Morning Ladies. I have been suffering terribly with palpatations, however these have subsided and I am now feeling terribly breathless. I have seen GP who has checked BP etc and says I am fine - the breathlessness is down to anxiety. Since I have been told I am going through menopause, I have imagined that I have DVT, brain tumor and problems with my heart - is it just me going crazy, or are other people suffering like this to and how do you overcome it?
I am having such a terrible time and cant stop thinking I have something horribly wrong with me.
Thank you

Oh join the Club! I did find however, that during my menstruating years, I would feel bloated pre-bleed and that would cause associated breathlessness.
Every little ache and pain can leave us feeling doomed ………. ::). Usually though, it's an over-active imagination!

Yes yes and yes Jillellie, all of your anxieties and fears. It is quite a common thing during this time to believe you have something dreadful wrong with you. All i can say is every time i have been feeling like this i come on here and am reassured that it is nothing to worry about. x

Is there late-onset asthma in your family, my Dad wasn't diagnosed until he was nearly 68.

Im the same jillellie got palpatations at the moment, get panic attacks, tight chest, breathlessness, I suffer from asthma which doesn't help x

hello jillellie I think you have come to a good place. You see when you read the posts here and realise there are a lot of women sharing your worries and symptoms, it doesn't make them go away but it helps you feel better about them. This is what I have found anyway. The health anxiety is horrible it really is but I am trying to overcome it now that I know I am really ok and there are a lot of other ladies feeling the same.

I cannot tell you, although I guess I'm getting ready to, how helpful low dose beta blockers are for all the associated anxiety. My doctor years ago was so wise when he told me to use a BB when I needed one or two rather than daily. Meds and I do not get on well, thus taking only when needed is super. For me, and I do have asthma mildly, the BB helps with palps, shortness of breath, irregular heart beat and anxiety. Mine usually hits when I wake or maybe an hour after and the BB tones things down in twenty minutes. I hate Valium and the BB seems much more natural to slow the adrenalin response, rather than depress the central nervous system. I take only five to ten milligrams of propranolol. I was a heart nurse and am very comfortable with this routine. Hope this is helpful in some way.

Thank you trey that's good to know I have asthma too which is why the doctor said at first I could have beta blockers then another doctor I saw said there is a different kind of bets blocker now I could be ok to take x
