Title: Great British Bake Off
Post by: Dancinggirl on August 06, 2014, 06:20:35 PM
Yippee!!! Another series starts tonight.  Apart from Strictly Come Dancing this is the only reality show I like. I'm not that interested in cooking - it's the personalities I enjoy. After weeks of nothing really good to watch on TV there is at last something to look forward to.
Feedback and comments please ladies?

LOVE GBBO, closely followed by the Great British Sewing Bee!

Last night's first episode was great - a good mix of characters (some of whom I love and one of whom gets on my nerves already!!).  It seems such a long time to wait for the next episode - looking forward to 'Extra Slice' with Jo Brand tomorrow night.

BBC were £M10 short - lowest bid was £M25!

I didn't realise it wasn't made by the BBC until yesterday, I hope that channel 4 don't change it, it works perfectly and I hope Mary, Paul, Mel and Sue all stay.

I am only mildly interested in it so it doesn't bother me either way.  Some of the contestants are very poor which surprises me as I thought you had to be a certain standard to get on there. Good but not professional, same as Sewing Bee.

I don't like Mel and Sue as I don't think they bring anything to the show. Mary knows what she's talking about in her own brittle way and Paul is just the heartthrob for women 35+.  MY niece adores him so that's the only reason she watches it.  I reminded her last week that one columnist described him as "a bulldog in Dad jeans"  ;D ;D

We watch because Mel and Sue are on, without them it would fall flat.  Particularly as we don't like cookery programmes although I'm watching Dave and Si right now  ;D.

Probably Jeremy Vine and Claudia Winkleman. They seem to be on everything lately.  TV does this until  you're sick of the sight of certain people.

I often listen to his radio show and enjoy that but then he was on TV on Eggheads, Strictly come dancing and more recently he's even on Crimewatch and probably others that I'm not aware of.   It's just too much and complete overkill.  He must be worth a fortune now!

I won't have him, Russell Brand nor Jo Brand on my radio/TV  >:(

I can't bear Russell Brand either but can take Jo Brand in small doses.  I cannot bear Claudia Winkelman on both Sewing Bee and Strictly.  She always tries to act like a giggly schoolgirl and makes stupid jokes and brings nothing to either programme.

I find Claudia Winkelman annoying, I don't think she adds anything to the show so I was surprised when she was named as one of the BBC presenters who earn more than £150,000, She must be very popular with someone  :-\

I am listening to his radio show just now.  He's discussing County Court Judgements.

Hello ladies.

I don't watch the show normally but I always watch the charity ones.

The comment about Jo Brand reminded me that she did a charity walk for Comic Relief and announced to everyone that she'd been through the menopause, was grumpy all the time and they would just have to put up with it. I admired her for that!  During the walk various other comedy types joined her but all we saw of Alan Davies was him telling the camera that Jo was not in a good mood so he had decided to walk ahead of her and give her some space!

Take care all.

K.

French and Saunders seem set to replace Mel and Sue!   Think they would be a good choice..

I don't think we will be watching  ::) - it's a bit like Strictly, it's come to the end of it's Natural Life.
