Title: Anxiety
Post by: karenja on August 01, 2014, 06:31:50 PM
Hello again, well the doctor has taken me off hrt as I could not get on with the green elleste duet tablets, I couldn't get on with citalopram at all, I did go back to herbal but he said I was mixing far too many things, so Im only allowed to take one stress tablet a day as anxiety is the main issue with me its just a valerian tablet so quite mild, it doesn't stop it as sometimes I get panic attacks over night but Im giving it a try for now, a question I need to ask, I took the hrt white tablets for 3 weeks and then just 3 green tablets before I came off, could this mean that I topped up my body with estrogen, as when I came off all the other symptoms, light headness etc has stopped it was only the anxiety that continued, but now weeks later I can feel some of the symptoms creeping back? any tips for panic attacks, even the breathing excersise is hard to follow breathe from your stomach, push it out when you breath in and suck in when you breathe out, its difficult!

Your body will need to adjust as the HRT ekes out of your body.  So expect the unexpected  :-\

As for valerian  :-\  :-X ……..

Anxiety needs chemical control.  Medication that is proven to help.  Short-term Valium is useful, I have used Bach Flower remedy mouth spray.

I was taught to take a deep breath in through the mouth; hold for the count of 5 ; then ease it out through the nose as slowly as possible.  3 times.  Then breath normally otherwise you will hyper-ventilate!

Little steps.  Ask away.  You are not alone there's usually someone around, browsing  ::)

How is your diet generally?  Sometimes anxiety surges happen due to low blood sugar so having a biscuit by the bed can help.  Slow release foods, i.e. porridge  :sick02:, bananas, ReadyBrek can help ease the sudden hunger when the body goes into over-drive.  I have Dextrose tablets too …….

Practice the deep breathing before you require it.  Make it 2nd nature!  Anywhere: in the line at the shop, whilst ironing, when walking down the street ……… make it a good habit  ;).  The idea of deep breathing is to concentrate the mind on something else, however, that's not easy as anxiety is physical!
