Title: Thank goodness for Gas contract
Post by: Joyce on June 12, 2014, 05:43:13 PM
Hubby announces at teatime there is water coming through the bathroom ceiling and dripping onto floor, with dead pan face.  I thought he was winding me up, thinking something else had dripped onto floor.  ;D But no, true enough drips coming down through ceiling.  He went up into loft to inspect to find water dripping out of boiler. Not lots, but water travels a long way. Gas board cannot come until tomorrow & will only come if it becomes a safety hazard.  We've put a bowl under said drip & it seems to have stopped dripping through. Will check later, then switch water off.  Will have to fill a bucket with water for overnight toilet trips.  ::)
Thank goodness we have a boiler contract!

Always had the gas care contract. It has saved us a fortune over the years. Hope you get it all sorted very soon.

Our airing cupboard houses the hot water tank which is fed from a cold water tank in the loft.  Rising main fills that.  12 months ago our neighbour woke to find the cold water tank had burst in one corner  :o ……… lots of clearing up to do and a whole house redecorating job, carpets, paint, light fittings  ::)

We had a leak few years back from new shower in bathroom. What a mess. New carpets & new furniture too. Claimed it back off installers though. Just as well we are at home. Hate to think of mess if we'd been away.

Well wouldn't you know, they didn't have the necessary part.  They never do. No hot water or heating, thank goodness it's summer! So just had to do a wash down in the bathroom & boiling kettle to wash hair.  They say they will have part tomorrow & will come back & fit it.  I sure hope so.  Last time they had to order a part we were without hot water for a week.
