Title: Bloating
Post by: chattygal on June 01, 2014, 04:14:35 PM
I have a mirena coil fitted as an HRT treatment as my womb lining was thickening after many years of being on Prempark C. I also use Estadot 50 patches. I have been on this regime for 7 months now and am bloated a lot of the time. Does anyone know if a change of regime would make a difference or is this the price I pay for a decent nights sleep and and end to sweats and flushes.

By 'bloating' do you mean your abdomen?

I've no idea if changing HRT regime would alleviate your 'bloating' but I do know that feeling bloated can be a symptom of all sorts of things (constipation, food intolerance, ovarian cancer to name but a few ).

Obviously it's up to you whether you get it checked out by a doctor or not.

IBS can cause bloating.  As can hormones  >:( …….. do you drink enough?

Many women experience some form of bloating (whatever that is!) when using progestogens - so it may be your reaction to the synthetic progestogen in the Mirena, although there is supposed to be little systemic absorption.  As tiger74 says - it will depend whether you mean your abdomen or fluid retention generally.
