Title: Awake....again
Post by: Wombat on May 28, 2014, 11:50:33 PM
Well sleep doesn't want to come tonight...why is it when you really want to sleep you can't, but if there's a good movie on I miss the end ????

Me too. Sitting in the kitchen and just eaten a slice of toast and marmalade  ::)

So much for cutting down. Eating in the wee small hours is never a good idea.

Sleep just won't come tonight.

I haven't even tried to go to sleep yet - I find if I go to bed around now then I get about three hours sleep before the half sleeping half waking sets in. I'm fine when on HRT though!

I hate that half-sleep, half-awake stuff - bloody exhausting!

Does it last for ever I wonder?  ???

Why do men generally sleep so well. Hubby is snoozing two mins after his head hits the pillow. I am so jealous  ::)

Ha ha indeed. As we speak all I can hear from my position on the sofa (after having given up on trying to sleep following around 4 unbroken hours) is huge snores reverberating through the ceiling from the bedroom upstairs!  ::)

I have come back to bed with a cuppa. Made one for hubby. He wakens up enough for two gulps and then goes back to sleep. He has always been the same. Sleep anywhere  :o

Have either of you tried zquil? It's very mild and I find if I take half a dose (1 T) it's enough to make me settle down to sleep well. I still wake but can go back to sleep until morning.

Since starting HRT I now sleep like a baby!   It took about a month, but I finally got there.

Also, hot flushes have disappeared and no more dryness.

Just one other thing to sort out and I have it sussed.

I'm the same as hotstff - on HRT my sleep is great but now that I have had to come off it I am back to around three hours a night and I can feel myself getting more down through, I am sure, pure tiredness! Most annoying.

Have any of you ladies tried Melatonin capsules? they have them over the counter in the Vitamin section. Its the only thing that knocks me out like a light and I had insomnia for years. Listening to hubby snoring away and me laying there then I tried these and sleep like a log. Last night I dribbled all over my pillow and husband says you were snoring last night...hahaha I put up with him for years.  ;D

I haven't tried them but I found this information interesting as to how melatonin is switched on in our bodies by the pineal gland http://sleepfoundation.org/sleep-topics/melatonin-and-sleep

Thanks for reminding me Annika!

Hi Annika, I take 3mg Melatonin at night for about a month and my sleep has much improved. I take it about an hour before I go to bed and it helps me snore off well. I still wake up once or twice like tonight but not as bad as it was a month ago.
