Absolutely horrific.  We need new laws on allowable safe,places to build and to log as logging in Oregon and Washington strip bare the land and mudslides happen.  Dear friend lost son and DIL in mudslide where all the trees had been cut and developers built homes.  Money rules.

Apparently the people living in that area were warned to stay away because of the heavy rain increasing the likelihood of land slides.  What happens above an area can destroy areas below, like when houses in the UK are build on the flood plains it affects land down stream  :sigh:
