Title: 80% HRT drop out
Post by: rosebud57 on March 22, 2014, 10:53:04 AM
Just read a report that said 80% of women give up HRT, in the first year, due to side effects.  I wondered it that was the experience of the ladies here or if it's just another manipulation of statistics ???

I wouldn't be at all surprised if that is the level of drop out.  As we hear all the time on this site, so many GPs are ill informed, discourage the use of HRT and know very little about he various preparations, so many women just throw in the towel if they get side effects.
More education and better choices are needed. Many GPs need to be updated a.s.a.p.
GREAT BIG POSTERS ABOUT THIS SITE ARE NEEDED IN EVERY GP SURGERY.

Hear, hear DG. I'd ask my surgery to put one up.

Well I have been on mine for 7 years but am always astonished by ladies who put up with a lot of misery because they thinks its so bad for you - all ladies who took the pill without thinking and now drink far more than they should :D

I deleted it rosebud57 after reading it again and thought that it was not really relative, but I will have another trawl for it or search for another link.

I do think that what you posted was quite accurate though, a lot of women do stop HRT usually to difficulty in compliance.
