Hi all, I'm new as well have been reading all post and have been great help to me, I'm just hoping to get some help on anxiety part of all this. My story is ... Didn't have a period for def from jan - jun 2013 spoke to GP when getting the pill had few night sweats nothing bad so she ran tests on meno and ye I was I thought it was hillarious at 42 so anyway we spoke about hrt and I thought ok I'll take that make me young and energetic! Big mistake, first 2 months ok then 3rd month on then felt bit dodgy on green tabs, elleste duet, then month 4 palps started really bad went to hospital done few tests ok same month 5. Stopped hrt and pill still get the palps now but put on beta blocker not so bad or maybe I can just control them better. Just feel I wished I hadn't touched hrt if none of this was going on before. Took normal period dec 3 in jan any encouragment or advise welcome x

Hi Dinnie,
Sorry to hear about your palps. I am perimenopausal and have palps too & am currently wearing an event monitor! You're definitely note alone, loads of us have these horrible things.
I had them really bad before hrt and they were much better within days of starting hrt. I have been on Femoston 1/10 for 3 months and the palps are now back, hence the monitor! I have also had some spotting. I am convinced my oestrogen levels have dropped and this is the problem. I can only speak for myself but I wouldn't assume hrt has caused your palps, it may just be your own declining hormone levels. Or it could be you need a different type of hrt?
I wish you well, I know how uncomfortable these things are. Mine have always been benign, supra ventricular ectopics, but my cardiologist just wants to check they are still the same. Early signs are that they are the same, which is good.
Hope you feel better soon,
Sally x

Dear dinnie
Hi
42 would be classed as early menopause and HRT at this age up to the age of 50/51 is putting back the oestrogen that the body has prematurely stopped making naturally. It is needed for protection of bones and other things. I am sorry you have had such a bad experience with HRT but there are different types and formulations. HRT is not for everyone, it is a very individual decision and not one to be taken without understanding the menopause and it's effects on our bodies. So my advice would be to read the great information on this site as well as reading the posts. There is a lot of information in the menus on the left side of the web page. Some women here also use beta blockers to help with the distressing effects of anxiety. Anxiety can be a symptom of menopause.
Perhaps another chat with your GP may be helpful?

Hi Dinnie.
You say that you spoke to your doctor "when getting the pill" do you mean the birth control pill?

Hi Taz
Ye birth control I was on cerrazette but after all the bad palps I decided to stop everything so now on beta blocker propranalol it had calmed things. Was so scary but it does help knowing lots of women have them and not just me thinking am dying! Lol

I'm not sure how your doc knew you were in early menopause? Cerazette often stops periods due to the constant progesterone. Was this mentioned to you? It could be that you are not in early menopause at all but just beginning to suffer the symptoms of peri meno which are the eight to ten years before your periods stop and you become menopausal. Just a thought!
I agree the palpitations are scary.
