Our cat slept all night last night upstairs (as usual). She got up this morning had a tiny amount to eat, went out and came back in, went upstairs (about 8am) and hasn't come down since. (I've never known her do this before). She is just lying on the bed looking very sorry for herself.
Any ideas?

Take her to the vet if she's no better tomorrow and try and get her to drink

Is she due for worming? My cat used to go off her food and become very lethargic if she needed worming. She also did it if she was struggling with a fur ball. Maybe you could give your vet a ring for some advice?

I always take mine as soon as they show symptoms like this. Even if it is not life threatening there may be something she can have to make her feel better quicker. Does she feel hot to touch? She could have an abscess developing.

No she doesn't feel hot. Not going to the toilet or being sick. Still purrs when I stroke her. Never seen her like this. If she doesn't pick up later I'll take to the vet in the morning.

Check whether her claws are still intact. She could have had a near miss with a car and they instinctively put out their claws which get chewed up by the tarmac. She could be a bit shocked or have some bruising which you don't know about. I hope she recovers from whatever it is soon.

Thanks Taz. She has ventured downstairs and having a few biscuits. (The ones for sensitive stomachs).

Purring is no guide to if a cat is happy because they purr to bring down their anxiety levels.
Make an appt with the Vet. ready for the morning!

I'd forgotten that CLKD. Our "spare" cat was hit by a car and disappeared for three days before dragging himself through our catflap. One back leg was just about severed and he had other scrape injuries down both his sides and face. He purred constantly while waiting for his owner to arrive and the vet did say that this was a calming measure - although he might have just been glad to have finally made it back to his adopted home.

What a difference a day makes. She had breakfast this morning then went out.
