Title: Will i still bleed

Is this a silly question.  Had a total hysterectomy plus removal of cervix.  If I went on hrt would I still bleed each month. :)

No question here is silly!  Did 'they' not tell you?  I'm sure someone will be along with the answer ……...

Hi happydays

You will not bleed on HRT if you've had a sub-total hysterectomy ie removal of uterus which includes the cervix.

The good news is that you won't have to worry about taking progestogen which is the hormone that often causes the problems with HRT as many women have side effects with this.

If you kept your ovaries, also it means that you will continue to produce some hormones of your own so won't be plunged into sudden menopause, and you should only start the menopause at the time you would have done if you had kept your womb, so a more natural menopause if you see what I mean.

Hi, I had both ovaries removed and I was not going through the menopause when I had the op. six weeks ago.  I am just 51. I have not had any symptons yet.   :)

Without ovaries you won't bleed.

I would ring the Secretary and ask the questions!  Also have a read of the menus ………. and I think there is another Forum that some ladies visit

Its not a silly question at all, I asked my doctor after my hysterectomy and the answer is no more periods if it was total like mine. Haven't had anything in two years now. Other hysterectomies that left part of the cervix can have mini periods. I should mention I was on HRT gel for a year following made no difference there is nothing left to cause any bleeding.
