Title: What is going on?
Post by: BreadFruit on February 05, 2014, 10:17:24 PM
Now that I am 4 days away from finishing my first 28 days on HRT I am feeling weird again in a way.

As some of you know I was on Prempak C for a while but had bad allergic reactions to it on my skin. Then my doctor put me on Elleste Duet. That went OK and I am continuing on the pack until it is finished.

I still have a rash but it is not as bad as it was. But seems to be worse since I started on the little green tablets.

The doctor said I should be getting a period. But nothing has happened so far. I have some slight grumbling in the womb but otherwise nothing. I would have thought that by now the period would start???

Also I have some serious mood swings. Quite vicious really. Very aggressive. And then I have total apathy and anxiety attacks, which is probably part of the face and hand rash. Also I should be cleaning house and studying as I have exams next week monday and tuesday. But I get so worked up about it as I cannot remember some of the latin names of the plants. I do know the stuff we learned but I cannot put it in the words and phrases they expect. I wish it was multiple choice, but sadly no.

The closer the exam days come, the more I am stressed. Now I have reached a stage where I do not even care anymore at all. I do not need to pass the exam, but it would be nice. I know I can do better and do justice to myself. I keep telling myself I can retake in July when the last exams are due. But then I would be totally overloading myself.

I just while my day away without focus and purpose. Its so annoying.

I felt so great and full of energy when on Prempack C. But it seemed to have dribbled away bit by bit since I am on Elleste Duet. Its not as bad as when I was not on HRT, but not as good as when on Prempack C. I wish I were not allergic to it.

Hey lovely

I know not about you meds but I can relate to the stress and anxiety times..........so lean on family and friends explain how you feel......all women should hopefully understand. The exams are they crutial??? sounds like Floristry??? maybe make some flash cards with the phrases you need to learn....not much help but a little and be kind to yourself.....

Love n hugs

Hi
Sorry you are feeling down and not so good.

The green tablets will be the progestogens. These often cause PMT type symptoms. I'm not sure what is in your type of HRT but it may well be different to what you were on previously- have a look at the green menu about HRT to the left of this page, and you can see what is in each type of HRT.

You would not normally expect a bleed until you finish the progestogens- same as if you ever took the Pill- the bleed comes at the end of a pack when the progestogen is withdrawn. So it could start around 3 days after the last tablet.

You might feel very differently once you come to the end of the pack and start the next pack which will be oestrogen only for a while.

No advice about the exams, except if it's not an essential exam, try to relax over it assume you are doing an exam in horticulture- the RHS maybe? A good friend of mine did it and I know how hard it can be!

Thanks for your replies.

I got my days a bit mixed up. Actually the last tablet is tomorrow. Which means my period will most likely start on Monday or Tuesday which are the exam days.

Yes, it is the RHS. I wish it were multiple choice, but sadly no its a fully written exam.

I look forward to the start of the new pack. I hope the period will not last long as I am also going on holiday for two weeks from Thursday onwards and was hoping not to have any bleeds then. But I wont be able to enjoy the sun as much as I had hoped due to the rash on my face.

I went and had acupuncture and a deep tissue massage by a "Chinese Doctor". He said my shoulder, arm and hand/thumb pain is due to the hormone fluctuations. He gave me some tea brew and some herbal pills. He also wanted me to boil up some herbs to drink like a soup. But I declined the soup. I tried the tea tonight. The taste is not bad and did not need to add any sugar. Will see how it goes. I may end up in a rash again because of it.

I really thought my period would start today. This morning I had some cramps, but now its all gone.

Just want to say that a lot of "herbal pills" shouldn't be used if you are on HRT. You need to know exactly what is in the preparation. I used to get a rash while on the progesterone part of HRT - most annoying but not as annoying as meno symptoms so I put up with it. Hope your holiday goes well!

Hi Breadfuit - I do hope your exams went well.  I can completely identify with the way you felt about remembering Latin words and phrases!  I had to remember Italian names and words for a written exam in January and I was worried, just like you, about forgetting these.  (I'd have been OK with French...) There were a couple of moments on the day when names/words almost completely eluded me, so they must have had a good laugh with whatever I wrote!  All water under the bridge now, but scarey at the time. :-\
