One day to go! Wedding flower panic!!!!!
I have just discovered that everyonewho needs to- grooms father (husband)and brothers brides mum and grandmother have buttonholes and cortages which are being made up by the florist to be collected on Saturday morning I have been overloked - I'm the grooms mother, and none have been ordered for me- I am desperately upset and feel slighted, I have asked and asked to be involved in the preparations but have been told each time 'no thanks' and yet we all get on well. should I get my own corsage- or not bother- I feel like not bothering !
I have relised that I need to get my daughter in law to be a present, was going to get her something nice today. any ideas?
I'm really upset and I havent slept a wink all night.

Things often get overlooked at weddings so try not to take this personally. Have you had a word with your son or are you not on speaking terms at the minute? Do you know which florist as you could phone them and get one extra made up - offering to pay if it's necessary. Or you can pop into your own local florist and get one made up just for you. It's tempting to not bother but I feel that on the day you will really wish you had. Hold your head up high - you are not beaten!!
As for a present - is that the normal thing to do then? I didn't know that but haven't been the mother-in-law to be either. Do you know what she likes?

I agree, if you don't get one made up, you'll kick yourself tomorrow. You be proud, you are the groom's mum after all.
I thought presents were given to the couple, never heard of an individual one to the bride. If it's expected how about a small piece of jewellery, something simple. Silver is popular with the younger generation. Of course it could be just white metal, depending on your budget, it's not the cost but the thought that counts.

the suns up and I feel better! I have calmed down and feel daft about having a strop!!!!!
Off to the local florist now to get a corsage made up, I will hold my head up and smile.... :D
We are getting them a new tumble dryer whilst theyre on honeymoon and get it up and working for their return, after all they need one with a young baby too! Its not very romantic but weve already paid lots towards the wedding.
Sorry for acting like a spoilt little brat ladies!!!!! ::)

My reaction would be that I wouldn't be going to the wedding. Your SON not remembering >:( .... as for giving the daughter in law a gift, nope. The B/G are responsible for giving the attendants and ushers something, the parents 'give' the wedding ;) - my Mum had our cake made and iced as a gift to us ......... but she was paying for it all anyway. Dad gave us a car ....... as well as eventually walking me up the aisle.
I would be FURIOUS :cuss: hurt and angry.

They should have remembered to order you a corsage, but may just have been an oversight , everyone can get frazzled last few weeks before wedding, my daughters recently married and there's so much to remember. You can get yourself a nice unique corsage now. As for getting daughter in law a gift, I must admit I've not heard of that. I thought you got the couple a present. I hope you all have a lovely day, after a stressful, busy lead up to my daughters we all had a fabulous time x

A forgotten flower would not keep me from my son's wedding. It's a frantic time and something always gets forgotten. It's an oversight not a slight.
I have not heard of the gift either, must be a new thing.

Have a wonderful day & hope the weather is kind.

Hope it all went well, I think you did the right thing arranging your own and agree it's all such an upheaval that things get missed. I bought my d-i-l a perfume set which also had body wash and moisturiser as a work colleague did that for me on my wedding day saying that all the presents tend to be for the house, so she thought she'd get me something for my special day and I was really touched.

I'm exhausted! It was the most lovely day, very informal and relaxed,it rained but I dont think anyone minded. I ended up babysitting the little chap overnight so I left earlier, it was nice. I managed to have a bit of a dance- I looked so like my mum, I was glad I got my own flowers and didnt sulk!!! We got them a really nice tumble dryer which was ready and waiting for them when they got home yesterday!!!! Love doing things like that.
Thank you for your advice ladies. Soemtimes I feel like a silly kid- sulking away! ::)

So pleased The Day went well. You were probably shocked at the time! How's your feet after your dancing ;D

Sore!, currently sporting a plaster on my heel! ;)

;D ……… worth it?

Oh yes, I adore dancing, dont really care if I look like a fool, I think maybe my epitaph would be 'first on the dancefloor and last off' 8)
it was a pity I couldnt stay for long though. Everyone was so generous with their gifts for the happy couple. xxx
