can anyone help, i have had restless legs for about 18 months now, every night, starts about 4pm, cant sit still for very long. when i go to bed 9 times out of ten i have to get up and walk around. i long for the days when i could sit through a film etc. please help. i am 56 and my periods finished about 2 years ago.
also hot flushes driving me mad, but i recently bought a ladycare magnet, because i read a lot of women had success with it, i still get flushes but i dont feel they are as bad or last as long, and it does make me giggle when i get stuck to the fridge, cooker and ironing board etc.

Hello Karen w.
I think another lady has posted about magnets and had some replies, also they have been talked about in the past along with restless leg syndrome.
I think if you do a search you will find a lot of information on both subjects.
Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for.

RLS is such an uncomfy thing to have - one tip is to lie flat on the floor with your legs raised and feet flat against the wall. It used to work for me. There is info here http://www.rls-uk.org/ about the syndrome which might be useful.

Hmmm! Would Lady care magnets work on my husband's restless legs....well I'm the one suffering cos they wake me up!! ;D

I spent years with legs up on the head board trying to sleep: or hanging over the edge of the bed. I then discovered bananas, 2/3 small fruits each day helped ENORMOUSLY. It's the potassium apparently. I can feel them drawing all day but its' when I get into bed that they are troublesome :cuss:
Nurofen helps too. Taken 30 mins before I go to bed. But do try bananas!

Hubbie eats loads of bananas. Says they keep him regular! No effect on his twitching legs though. :o

Has he got any medication for it Ju Ju? My dad used to suffer dreadfully much to my mum's despair!

Ju Ju - could be magnesium deficit then. Have a look at the lists of foods which have the various minerals in? The feelings get me down, what with that and the allergic rhinitis, some nights are full of tossing and turning >:( ..........

I'll look into that. Thanks. Just found these icons. Appropriate?
:parti: :jiggy: :spin:

I'll print this off for hubbie, though it seems to be more of a problem for me than for him. On occasion, I have taken refuge in the spare bed. Still he is very caring. Any suggestions for snoring as well?!!

Cat - laying on his chest won't allow him to drop off to sleep completely :catscratch:

Better give him a kitten for Christmas!

NO pets for C.mas ;) ........... wait until Feb. for the next litters .........

I don't know if it's the same for everyone but if you're low in iron or iron stores you can get twitchy/restless legs. I had it last year when I had a ferritin level of 8 due to v heavy periods. Once I was on iron it disappeared.

I had dreadful trouble after surgery in 1991. Legs kept me awake night after night after ......... :-\ ......... that was the year I had 2 double folded blankets under the mattress on my side of the bed, as elevation certainly helped.
