Does anyone have any suggestions for effective treatments for itching? It feels like pinpricks and happens almost always only at night, just when I'm trying to sleep. It is really beginning to affect my ability to function the next day - any help appreciated.

We have several itchy threads on here, it's a common problem as oestrogen levels drop. For me it's the insteps whilst in the bath, occasionally during the day but usually at night: also my back .......... for several years now ::)
Do a search - you'll see the other threads ;)

Had to laugh at title, only a Scot could say that! ;)
As for itching, well some nights it drives me scatty. It's when I get overheated, start itching one place, then another, then another. Mainly my legs. I sympathise.

Yep, it's a Scottish ism. ;D
Oh me too. The middle of my back is the problem. Just where I can't reach.

I've posted this on another thread but it might have some useful info in it http://www.34-menopause-symptoms.com/allergies/articles/understanding-menopausal-allergies.htm
As for Doolally - it's not just a Scottish phrase. My East Anglian mum and dad used it a lot - I drove them doolally on more than one occasion ;D It originates from when soldiers were stationed in a transit camp in India at the end of their tour of duty - the camp was in Deolali. http://wordsmith.org/words/doolally.html I've never wondered where it came from before!

I found my glasses in the airing cupboard! Come on, own up, who put them there? I'm not doolally am I?

;D ......... both insteps itched as I got into the bath last night. I am aware of a background irritation in various parts of my body on and off all day ::)

My tummy was itching like mad earlier. Slapped some aloe vera on and all's well with the world again. :)
Interesting origin to meaning of doolally though.

My mum always used to say someone was "doolally tap" but I never knew what it meant before apart from the fact that whoever she was talking about was a little bit crazy.
