Hi,I am going in to hospital next Tuesday for a laporoscopy to remove large cyst and ovaries. Has anyone had this done and can give any advice or tips on recovery times etc ?
Thank you

I had ovaries removed laparoscopically. Initial pain was from gas used to pump into tummy area. Shoulders ached for a few days afterwards. Wound healed fairly quickly as did I. After a week I was feeling pretty much back to normal. But as with most things, we're all different. Good luck.

Can offer no advice I'm afraid, but hope it goes well and wishing you a speedy recovery x

Thanks ladies,
I was planning for a week to totally recover. Have a caravan break booked at the weekend and was wondering how much walking I would be able to do, also flying to Spain on 19th. Not sure about flying restrictions so am going to ring insurance company later ..getting a little anxious now so will be glad when it's all over x

All I had was really bad shoulder pain from trapped wind.. like cubagirl says probably from the gas they use. I had a large ovarian cyst taken out. Hot water bottle essential. Apart from that absolutely fine 2 days later. Good luck... wishing you well. xxx

Make sure you have some peppermint water to sip for the pain from wind.

Ok Ellie thanks for that tip, will try to get some, otherwise would peppermint tea suffice - I drink loads of that ?! X

Extra strong mints worked for me. Will be over soon debil.

Hi all,
Thanks for your good wishes.
I had the operation today and now home. It went well although the cyst was much bigger than expected and they drained 2 litres of fluid from it! Feeling bit sore and swollen around abdomen and have shoulder pain from gas but pain killers are sorting that out!
Just got to wait for final results from pathology so fingers crossed !!
Enjoying being waited on by OH so shant let on how good I feel just yet !!

Thanks everyone....feeling a lot brighter today although still slightly hunched over like an old lady!
I'm hoping that the swelling will go down soon and I cant wait to have a shower and wash my hair tomorrow- I must smell divine! I'm weaning myself slowly off the paracetamol as the pain seems to be easing off.
DH and I have had a caravan weekend break booked in Norfolk for some time and I feel well enough to go tomorrow so looking forward to that. I doubt we shall do very much but it will be nice to get out and go for drive/ and very short walks.
We are leaving the kids at home in charge of the house and dogs so it won't be entirely stress free as I worry about my daughter driving back and forth to her boyfriends house ( she's not long passed her test) and my dog has taken to escaping from the garden this last week ( little s*d) so they will need to keep an eye on him!

Enjoy your weekend Debil and I;m sure they will be fine - I know what it's like to worry when you leave them though! Hope you're feeling much better soon.

Get the 'sitters' to keep the dog ON THE LEAD whilst he is in the garden. There may be a bitch around :-\ or a new Cat on the Block! That way you will have less to worry about.
Will your daugther text U? My Dad told me to consider every one else an idiot when I was out on the road, might be an idea to tell her to treat every one like ...........
Enjoy your break. Where in Norfolk?

CLKD, we are going to Hunstanton , it's lovely around there.
My boy has been "done" so not sure he's after a lady dog, he just likes digging his way out .We have a very secure dog pen but if we leave him in the open garden any chance he gets he's off!! I will tell them to keep his lead on....good idea!
