Hi, i am a new member and struggling with the menopause. I was on HRT but had to come off it due to a DVT in my leg. I am using Replens for vaginal dryness which seems to be helping, but i am really struggling with insomnia and awful sweats (day/night). Would really appreciate some advice.

hello Sue,
welcome to site, I am new too! my Gp suggested I buy some tablets [from BOOTS] called SLEEPEAZE 25mg and 20 tablets in box. Not expensive and do the trick. You can take one or two before bed, but one always ok for me.
I don't take every night, just when I feel I really need it, Gp says much better than prescribed sleeping tablets and non addictive. As for night sweats, I sleep in cotton nightie, then push the [Summer] duvet off when I need to. You can then sleep on top of the bed but are still covered for those times when you get cold.Good luck.

Thank you for the warm welcome, will certainly give them a try, my gp wanted to prescribe anti depressents but to be honest dont really want to go down that route if i dont need to. Dont you just love this menopause, my husband has said that it is like sleeping next to a radiator because of my sweats but he has now set up a fan next to my side of the bed which comes on and off during the night and it does seem to help a little. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

:) I know just what you mean Sue! It's no picnic is it? I don't know about you, but I had nobody to tell me what it's like, as my Mother died when I was young. However, that's one of the good things about the internet, the sharing of info. The only thing we have to all realise is [including my own tip to you] that we are not doctors on here, and what works for one may not work for another. It's more that we can chat to people going through a difficult time, and knowing that we are not freakish! My husband says I am a living hot water bottle, but that it's nice in Winter! Not so nice in the Summer of course. Ah well. ::)
