Well it will not be long before the new season starts. Are they going to drip feed us each celebrity slowly?
Must check Digital Spy for the latest rumours......... :-X
Bramble
-
Great minds ::)
-
I read in the paper yesterday that there's a special edition of The One Show on BBC1 on Monday night (2 September) that will reveal the full line-up.
-
Oh must be back for that then ............ I love Matt Baker :-*
-
Vanessa Plelps to be one and maybe one of the hairy bikers.
-
:o - not together though ;D
-
One would hope not. ;D.
-
Shall we Dance
On a Bright beam of Sunshine
Shall we Dance?
-
Tonight, tonight .......... ::)
-
:-\ I am under-whelmed <sigh>
-
I kinda got fed up with it but if there's a hairy biker ....that would be fun ;D ;D
-
I have never really watched it at all. Not my kind of thing.
Sometimes these long running things run out of steam.....and celebrities that people actually recognise.

Caught some of it, but not sure of what it will be like yet. Once the competition gets going maybe .....
-
It seemed recorded to me ::) .............. and stitlted somehow ........... have to wait now for a few weeks whilst they practice ::)
-
I don't feel enthralled with any of the celebrities yet. Hopefully this will improve once they get started for real.
Bramble
-
I think that Julian will surprise us ........ less camp and keener to learn :D
-
Saturday's 'pair up' programme was definitely recorded - it was never hinted at being anything else (according to this morning's Metro, it took over 5 hours to record!). The live programmes start in 3 weeks' time. I think Dave Myers will be funny (and Si's face in the audience!!), the actress from Corry looks good (don't watch Corry, so no idea who she is!) and Julian may well surprise - he makes a big thing about being in it for the bling, but I think he wants to dance well too. Abby Clancy needs that pout wiping off her face and to stop the pathetic posing - I have a sneaking feeling she's the one who's going to get on my nerves this year!!
-
Are we ready Girls - feet up, glass in hand, booing and hissing practised? Tonight and tomorrow .......... ??? :-\
-
Can't wait!
Bramble
-
Quite good for a first attempt ;) ....... planning this afternoon around MotoGP Qualifying and tonight's Strictly!
-
Some promising ones, some not so. However, for a change loved both of Tess's dresses.
-
Well ........... if Julian were to be more straight and concentrate on actually dancing rather than being showy ::) - and if Dave manages to engage brain and feet :o - James had Vanessa's ability worked out to a T .......... disappointed in the costumes though apart from the Waltz couple who went last ....... some of these new names, do they make them up ;D
-
It Takes 2 this evening! 6.30 with Zoe ......
-
Loved the opening weekend - can't wait for It Takes Two tonight (so glad it's still Zoe - I really like Zoe Ball, but I can't STAND Claudia Winkleman, so I never watched IT2 when she was doing it!).
-
::)
-
I think Claudia and Tess made a great pair tonight!
I think that Julian has improved despite what the judges said. It takes a lot of concentration for a gay man to become 'macho' ::)
Who will go? Vanessa certainly improved but Tony Jacklin is plodding a bit - the routine was good though, bringing in his golfing history. I think the Pros do a really good job, including the golden crash helmet at the end of Dave's routine.
Any guesses?
-
Loved Sophie Ellis Bextor. Really didn't like Tony Jacklin's routine at all, but he did pretty well for a 69 year old. Not sure who will be in bottom two.
-
Tony and Julien in the bottom 2?
-
Tony & Dave I reckon. Maybe Mark.
-
Who is Mark? .......... ::) must make sure that supper is planned for the 'proper' time ;D
-
I thought Mark did really good last night for a big bloke. My money is on Julien and Tony to be in the dance off.
Bramble
-
Not sure Julien's ego could cope if he's in bottom two.
-
I think there will be tears before bed-time ;D
-
Craig has a new book about 'behind the scenes' - anyone read it, I will put it onto my C.mas list ;)
-
Rather than start another topic, thought I'd ask on here. Whether or not you can dance, which dance do you wish you could do? Mine would have to be the American Smooth, just love the romance of it. Second probably the Argentine Tango.
-
love the American Smooth - it is so romantic. Would also love to learn jive but the poor old knees would not take it!! ;D (http://;D)
Any dance with Artem or Robin would be a delight!! ::) (http://::))
-
That leaves Pasha for me then :-*
I did ballet, tap and French National but my brain wouldn't get to my toes in time these days ;D : however: Argentin Tango for me.
It's great news that Anton's partner Erin is expecting a baby :bounce: he was telling Zoe that 'we are delighted' ;D
Tonight's show - think it will be Dave who leaves this week :-\ but that other girl didn't do well either ...... was in the dance off last week? Some of the costumes this evening are stunning!

Strictly come Dancing inspired me to put on my dance shoes again about 4 years ago. I'd recently gone back on HRT so was getting some sleep and not getting all hot a bothered all the time - I had some energy to burn. So I started teaching an adult dance class - I used to be a professional dancer. I had a broad range of ages in my class from 20s to 70s. I even had 2 GPs in my class!!! Many of my ladies had never danced before.
We did a simple ballet bar, plies etc. then moved on to doing beautiful arm movements and balancing adagios. I choreographed a wide range of very simple dance routines from jazz to a ballroom style waltz - I even had a 'Jane Austin' dance where we all imagined we were dancing with Mr. Darcy at one of the balls. We used to have such a laugh. When your dancing you cannot think about anything else because using every part of your body requires every area of your brain, so it's really good for you physically and mentally.
About 3 years ago I moved away from the area where I did these classes - watching Strictly tonight made me think I should start the classes again where I now live.
I recently read in a magazine that dance classes are popping up all over the place now - I really recommend giving them a try.

I went to ballroom dancing classes in my late teens. Friend wanted to be able to master basics for weddings. I was better at a tango, if I'm honest. But teachers were so unbelievably strict all the time, no fun at all. One guy kept partnering with me & we'd get in such a kerfuffle at times & laugh at ourselves. So not the done thing. I gave up as a result!
Dave needs to go, wish public would stop giving him votes, he's really d-r-e-a-d-f-u-l! However he'll probably stay & someone else will get the dunt. Maybe Rachel.
-
I think Strictly gets more interesting as the competition goes along.
I do get slightly upset that there are contestants that have obviously had dance training and clearly have an advantage.
I really love it when a contestant struggles at first and then you see them blossom and gain confidence. I'm loving Deborah - who'd have thought!!! She's really putting so much into it and enjoying herself.
Who's going tonight? I'm afraid Dave does need to go now.
DG x
-
I would love to learn how to dance but would not have the courage to join a class.
Are you in the South by any chance DG? You should definitely start up again, sounds like you loved it. PN x x
-
Deborah was so much better last night! Shame about Patrick, though think he did remarkably well considering. It never pans out the way you expect at this stage. Audience really have to stop giving Dave a standing ovation. He's having fun, yes, but he's a rubbish dancer. Not his fault he keeps getting the Vote. Maybe this week he'll finally go.
-
Purplenanny -I live on the Suffolk coast now. I feel I have met some soul mates on this site and it would be great to get together and dance.
I wonder if there are any dance DVDs that you could try out to give a bit of confidence?
DGx
-
I'm afraid that I can only dance beautifully in my mind. In reality, I have 2 left feet and totally confused when it comes to direction! But I love strictly. This is a wonderful time in our lives to do something for our selves, wherever it is dancing, painting, cooking, carpentry ... whatever. I have been having singing lessons for 2 years and have been finding my voice in more ways than one. I have even started taking singing exams. It is thrilling to be able to make a noise that is not just pleasurable for me but for other people.
-
My hubby is a dreadful dancer! He admits it, so we are never on the dance floor these days. He used to, but only when it was so crowded that we could barely move. ::)
-
Good for you Ju Ju. I think it is very important to learn new things all the time.
I'm terrified of getting dementia so keeping the mind agile is vital.

See it's been kicking off between Ola & Karen. What's that all about?
Loved Artem & Natalie last night. He can dance with me any time.
-
:o do tell? I don't go to the web-site these days ....
Pasha: Artem: Alija: Robin: Ian ....... can sit on my settee any day :-*
-
Bit of a cat fight during the week Karen saying Ola she was a bad dancer which keeps her in the back row. Lots of folk got involved to calm things down to stop Ola walking! Of course media probably adding 2+2 & getting 5.
-
We don't buy the dailies any more, too busy getting on with LIFE :-*
Looking forwards to this evening: think Dave should go but he has a fan base ::)
-
Dave was awful & Mark wasn't a whole lot better. However, I've an awful feeling they will stay & someone else will go, as is always the case. People don't vote based on how well contestants dance but on how popular they are otherwise. Not strictly fair, but these things are always the same.
-
Crazy result! :( Public obviously can't see talent when it smacks them in the face. You could tell Mark & Dave were shocked to still be in.
-
:'( .......... I think this will probably be the last season of this programme. It is supposedly entertainment in the form of a dance competition and obviously a few of the celebs have to have had some experience otherwise there would be a lot more like Dave and I think he was shocked ........ I would like to see the phone vote results! as I am beginning to think ........ :-X
-
It would be interesting to see if the free on-line voting has had a major impact on voting numbers. I think it makes it 'easier' to vote numerous times and possibly sway the result. It spoils my enjoyment of the programme when silly results like this weekend happen - I don't think the person who went home this week was a contender to win (far too wooden), but they certainly shouldn't have gone this week. And as for the other couple in the dance-off - words fail me!!!!
-
Has anyone on here tried voting online? Maybe there's a way in which you can only vote once. I registered, but my tablet wouldn't let me vote at all.
I agree, I doubt Rachel would have made it to the end, but she didn't deserve to go home yet. Bit like last week's vote. No way should Deborah & Patrick have been in the bottom two. It happens every year though.
-
It happens every year though - exactly the words DH used, followed by "I can't give a monkeys who goes or who stays" ....... ::)
When I did a 'phone vote I could only vote for 1 person once; I got Brucies voice saying 'thank you' :-* ........... DH suggested that the Judges should not place the contestants until after all the dances have taken place ..........
-
Don't know about multiply votes for the same person - I thought you could with phone votes (you get charged for every vote though). You can certainly vote for more than one person on-line, just as you can with the phone voting.
-
I tried voting twice for the same person last year and got 'You have already placed your vote for " & " ' ::)
-
Last night was a travesty. Last week was a travesty. There is also a professional dancer competing which isn't fair. As an ex dancer myself I want to see people with little or no experience take part and watch them develop into dancers. In the past there have been some really good examples of this. I still enjoy watching it though. DG x
-
Who's the professional?
-
The girl with Artem learned dance at a young age. Darcey was on the AT Show this afternoon and explained that, although some may have experience much earlier, that every dance with a new partner is a steep learning curve. Particularly as the celebs have to learn so many dances in short periods of time.
If there weren't any savy dancers then they would all be like John Sargent, Anne Widdicombe, Dave Myers etc.; there has to be a bit of a balance. I had dance training until the age of 18 but my brain wouldn't get the message to my feet these days ;D and as for those shoes :o
-
I like to see all abilities at the start and watch how they develop. Those (like Natalie) who have clearly danced before and for whom the basics are already there should develop a professional level of finesse and precision, and be able to perform far more technically challenging routines as the series progresses. Sophie started well, but seems to have plataeued (can't spell it, but you know what I mean!!), but Natalie started well and is still improving, and she should be applauded for that. Similarly, no matter how dire Dave is I'd be applauding him if he was improving ... but he isn't!!
-
I think that Dave realises he isn't improving - like me, his brain won't get to his feet quickly enough ::)
-
Scampi - very well expressed - I agree.
DG x
-
At last it's getting there ::) we might soon have a competition ;)
-
I thought Susannah's Paso Doble was terrific - was not too keen on Natalie's Charleston - she seemed out in timing in some bits but the judges thought it was wonderful!
Bramble
-
Blackpool night was really great. I think we are ending up with a very interesting mix - there are quite a few surprising contenders.
I so want to dance with Anton - he is such fun.
Looking forward to next week already. DG x
-
Ian Waite can sit on my settee any time he likes along with Robin, Artem, Pasha .......... :-* .... those children at Blackpool must have had a whale of a time 8) but sad that someone/s been into the dressing rooms and taken iPads etc. from the dancers whilst they were performing
>:(
-
I agree Bramble, Natalie was out of time with Artem. Didn't deserve score.
Craig was rather harsh with Sophie's score, but then he was Mr Grumpy pants at weekend.
Pretty disgusting that thieves got in, but would have thought there would have been security. Obviously not.
-
Police think it is an 'inside job' >:(
I believe that Fiona had gone as far as she could and Mark does give it his all, flat footed but keen: and those bright colours :o
-
I performed in theatres all over Britain and I'm afraid thieving from dressing rooms was always rife. If one had to take anything of value into the theatre, you left it with the doorman who had a safe.
Unfortunately, if you have to go into hospital thieving is a real problem there. For many , their mobile phone is the best way they can be in touch with friends and family while in hospital. My sister spent another stint in hospital recently and several people on her ward had things stolen - really awful! DGx
-
Just to say I thought Sophie & Brendan's Rumba was superb tonight, sexy without being raunchy. Shame the judges were looking for sex!
-
>:( (http://>:() shame about the judges - I thought it was just beautiful! PN
-
It was one of the few dances where I got caught up in the story. Quite beautiful. Yes Brendan gets a tad upset at times, but this week justifiably so!
-

Unlike all other years, I have no real favourite this year. Don't know if it is the mix of celebrities or I am just a bit fed up of the format.................bring back Gavin!
Bramble
-
I find Sophie cold in what ever she does, I think she worries too much about what her husband might think or say :-\
It was a good cheorgraphy of a difficult dance. Nothing stood out for me this evening ........... who's to go?
-
Think Ben & Mark will be bottom two, but not sure who judges would save. Should be Mark going though.
-
Last night was interesting. I think the high of last week had left everyone tired and lacklustre.
The judges were right to be tough this week - there are quite a few contenders and a few were very much out of their comfort zone. I agree about Sophie - she just looks rather inhibited and lacking umph! I'm surprised the judges haven't picked up on her poor shoulder line.
What I didn't like last night was the choice of music for many of the dances.
DG x
-
Yes, I agree about the music DG, it really does make a difference.
I felt the whole evening was a bit flat after Blackpool and not sure who will be going...possibly Ben or Mark?
PN x x
-
Oh the music was truly awful for the most part. Why can't they use more traditional tunes/songs? Natalie's was terrible as was her dance if I'm honest. But then I didn't think she was that good last week either. Not sure what judges are looking for. Is it a good dancer or an entertainer, as in Mark. Hopefully he'll be gone tonight & the competition will start for real.
-
It is billed as an entertainment show ;)
-
Loved Sophie & Brendan tonight! Hope she makes the final. Got my vote.
Is it just one couple or two that go this week?
-
One. Hope that Alijak (sp) stays in. Don't think Susaznne held it together well this evening.
Final next Saturday. Sophie is cold in whatever dance she does ...........
-
If Susanna doesn't go this week think she'll be first out next week. Think Abbey will win next week.
-
I just thought it was a great range of dances last night and the standard is really high all round.
I think it's sad for Susanna because we naturally compare her to the tall willowy youngsters she is competing with. She is in her 40s, has young children and is carrying on a very tough job with nightmarish early mornings - I don't know how she manages to do so well.
I believe Abbey deserves to win as she has made the best progress and improvement and her shear joy of dancing is such delight.
DG x
-
IT'S ON! ;D
-
Still think Abbey will win, but looks like it will be a brilliant final!
-
They have 2 dances plus a group dance to learn this week :o
-
I think Suzanna is the most popular with the public, so it depends if it's a popularity contest.
-
She doesn't do it for me. Yes she's good, but not sure she's good enough to win. But she may up her game on Saturday. Nothing to lose.
-
I don't think she's good enough to win as far as 'talent' goes but for hard work and Kevin is a dish :-*
Don't want Brendon and his partner to win though .........
-
Love Abby and hope she wins but I like Susanna too! Looking forward to the final, love the distraction from my meno madness! ::)
Sal x
-
Well done Abby I just loved her waltz it actually made me cry it was gorgeous to watch. I liked her a lot
-
I liked her a lot too - hadn't expected to for some reason but I loved her determination and she seemed so unaffected.
Ariadne xx
-
She deserved to win in the end. Well done to her!
-
I felt Abby had made the most progress over the whole season and I found her dancing really joyful - I always looked forward to her dances.
Good final - all of them could have been winners.
What will next years 'Strictly' bring?
DG x
-
:clapping: to a Very Good Programme .........
-
I love strictly but thought Natalie should have won it.
She did it for me. :)
-
I think that Abby had made most noticeable progress throughout the weeks. Natalie was a 2nd choice for me ;-)
-
I missed the introduction on Sunday due to seeing le Veulta .......... there was talk about guy and guy together ::) but that hasn't happened .....
-
Hi CLKD
I missed the intro show last Sunday - couldn't persuade hubby to watch it.
Can't wait for it to start properly.
The only thing with Strictly is that I feel it is the count down to Christmas - Ahhhhh!!!!
DG x

Not THAT word ;D

Will start a Strictly 2014 thread.
