started to use this cream a couple of weeks ago for vaginal atrophy and have now got painful stomach cramps and back ache. does anyone out there have any experience of using the cream?
-
oh no :(. I've heard people say this is a side effect of Vagifem too.
I'm sure somebody who's taken orthogynest will be along soon to let you have some answers.

I noticed similar back-ground griping like I was starting a period :-\ ........ but nothing to worry me. I also feel more thirsty the day after using the preparation ::)

I had been given Gynest about a year ago, before I started full HRT.
I had raised concerns with my GP about side effects, but she said the level of hormone
was so small (0.001%) side effects would be very unlikely.
The actual thing I had raised with my GP was "will this stuff give my OH boobs?" He was worried, bless him.
When she stopped laughing, which took some time, she managed to say the dose of hormone was very very tiny,
so OH would not need to buy a bra.... ;D
The only issue I had with the cream was it was a bit messy, got everywhere.
However it did help a bit with dryness issues

I don't find it messy. At least, no messier than having a period ::)

It used to drop out in clumps when walking.
Mind you I was using it at the same time as Replens, so that might have contributed.
Gynest by itself didn't do a lot to help, so needed additional help.
Mind you there were no other side effects.......

thank you ladies, sounds like the cramps may be linked to the cream. I'll keep on with it though, let you know how it goes. Many thanks Valx ;)

Hi Valx
How are you feeling now? I have been given Vagifem pessaries but after reading the long possible side effects list, am really afraid of using them. Some kind ladies replied to my request for help/advice and they seem to be okay with them. However, I used Oestrogen cream before and had awful side effects; racing heart, headache and nausea. I have been on Kilogest for 5yrs with no problems but although I really need to use the pessaries, I am just so afraid. It's all a bit hit and miss isn't it? Hope you are feeling better :)
