Title: Veins on chin
Post by: JeanneA on June 24, 2013, 03:44:08 PM
Has anyone noticed tiny veins showing through on my chin? I've had these for some time now, is this another menopause symptom?

Do you mean standing out veins or the little thread veins? Thread veins can get worse when you are taking HRT as they seem to respond to oestrogen which is why more women than men get them. They can also be caused by the sun and alcohol. Some info here http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-117235/Spotting-preventing-thread-veins.html

Oh I have them on chin and have started getting around nostrils too. Very sexy! I try hard to cover with make up, but short of caking it on........ Nobody notices but me, or so I'm told.

Hi jeanneA

I've got them too...posted a wee while ago about it.  I have had them for years.  Is definitely hormone related according to my GP, high levels of circulating estrogen.  I hate them, they are hard to cover up and make me look like I have a boozers nose.  Electrolysis is 'iffy' as it can cause worse redness and scarring.  I want to get this done as apparently it completely gets rid of them without a single mark, and they don't come back.

I had all my little thread veins on my cheeks  that were cause by sun burn removed by electrolysis  http://threadveinremoval.cliniccompare.co.uk/advanced-electrolysis-treatments-facial-red-thread-veins

It didn't hurt, it leaves minute dotted scabs that dry , fall of and leave clear skin. I was given calamine lotion to dab on and told not to wet the scabs, after a few days they were all gone.

This was a few years ago, they have not returned.

Also taking a Rutin supplement helps strengthen blood vessels and stops tiny leaking thread veins.  I have taken Rutin for a few years and have very clear skin.

Hi thanks for all the replies, I would call them thread veins.  I try and cover them with make up but they still show through.  :(
