just a thought but iam waiting to see orthopeadic doc at hospital at the end of the month my gp thinks i may have arthritis in my hips but i have noticed that the pain gets worse when i cant go to the loo properly its at the bottom of my back then if i stand or walk for more than around 20 mins my hips and back go stiff and i need to sit down now iam supposed to take fybogel twice a day but i forget which results in constipation saying that i go to the loo everyday but its like pellets to much info sorry and iam thinking could this be the cause of the low back and groin pain any thoughts please

In my (limited) experience of constipation, the general discomfort or pain feels very similar to period pain. It is low, but not any more in the back than period pain is. Does it feel like period pain? More severe pain from constipation can radiate into the groin.
I get back pain (but am not constipated), which often feels a bit like period pain, generally when I've been lying down. It's not severe, more of a nuisance than anything. Hope you get it sorted. x

Hi Kerrieann
I could've written your post myself.
I suffer terribly from constipation too and my back and hips throb terribly especially if I'm walking about. I also get a low down period type ache in my tum and feel a bit uncomfortable.
The only thing that relieves my aches is a sit down with a nice hot water bottle. This all seems to have worsened since I entered my peri journey. If someone could come up with a fail safe for constipation I'd snap their hand off ;D
Anyway, just wanted you to know you're not alone.
Take care

fiorinda yes i think it is a bit like period pain right in the bottom of my back and its ache not a sharp pain but the more i walk or stand the worse it gets gonna try taking the fybol gel twice a dat and see if theres any improvement
clarieylou its nice to know iam not alone with this :) what have you tried for constipation ? i cant increase the fruit and veg to much as i then get ibs :( cant seem to win
-
Snap!
I can't go too overboard on the fruit and veggies either because of ibs.
I think I've tried just about everything to get me going as it were.
I'm beginning to give up hope to be honest. Being all bunged up makes me feel poorly, lethargic and I've got no appetite.
What sort of things have you tried Kerrieann x

only really fybogel as if i try a laxative it seems to be way too strong and i get bad tummy pains and cant get off the loo and then within a couple of days iam back to square 1 again fruit juices seem to do the same thing also tried weetabix every day and that give me heartburn not sure what there is out there are you ?

I find a couple of bottles of Actimel each day help keep things moving.
One with breakfast, next later on in day.
-
i havent tried prune juice thought it may be a bit too much of a laxative but i will give it a go and also the actimel anyone used those pro biotic capsules ? wonder if they would work
-
Hi All
My son has Sunraysia prune juice every morning, about 1 -2 inches in a glass and it works for him. And it's natural :)

I have found that bread-or more correctly, yeast-which causes the same problems for me.
Sourdough bread is fine for me, and anything with yeast causes the bloat and constipation-ie mushrooms, croissants, anything with yeast in it.Try substituting the sourdough bread to see if it works for you. Soda bread is similar, but is usually made with wholemeal flour which I don't like and tastes of bicarbonate of soda-sourdough uses a culture which works more slowly, but is easier to digest. It's more expensive than ordinary bread, but I buy a loaf and slice and freeze it and only use what I need.

hi, I was put on this diet by a gastro enterologist ( had a colonoscopy last year due to persistent constipation)
I can ignore the lactose bit but follow the rest, although it's annoying as was mostly veggie and can't eat any pulses or lentils any longer, and no peaches >:(

She also put me on 2 tablespoons of golden linseed every morning - either on its own or in oatmeal or granola - and I take flaxseed in the cereal too.
I've had no constipation for over a year now, having had it forever before that.
If you do the linseed, start with one spoon and work up after a week or so.
good luck

I have chronic back and nerve pain and am constipated due to pain relief. Tried everything but as I also have IBS, I couldn't tolerate most laxatives. My only saviour was Actilax, taken at bedtime. It is gentle on the stomach and it has really helped. Would recommend it.

I've also had this exact same problem, my solution was dietary, a banana for breakfast and avoiding bread made a huge difference
