Hello ladies. Anyone experienced a very poor appetite with this meno business? I've become totally uninterested in food, having to force myself to eat. Yesterday I realised I'd become dehydrated and had a really acidic feeling so I drank lots of water and this morning I've had diaorrhea.
My anxiety levels are very high at the moment and I've just started taking HRT.
I'm so fed up with this, my body is always letting me down and I could just cry and cry.

Anxiety can cause us to lose appetite. So can having a cold. Or being too tired to eat.
I expect that the loose motions are due to the water intake ;)
How about grazing, i.e. on dried fruits and nuts, bananas, porridge - things that don't take much preparation and can be nibbled during the day. That way you keep eating but little and often. Add to that plenty of fluids.

When I was at my worst I lost my appetite. But then you feel sick because you are not eating, then you can't eat because you feel sick. It becomes a vicious circle. I agree with CKLD, grazing is the answer. I used to nibble on pretzels, apples, sweets, flaked almonds, even if I didn't feel like them.
Once the HRT kicks in you will start picking up.

Dextrose tablets can help too .......... as can yoghurt, actimel-type drinks, spoonfuls of honey

Thank you CLKD and littleminnie. I appreciate your advice and have taken to grazing instead of worrying about meals and I do feel better today. Drinking enough to stay hydrated but not overdoing it.

sorry with me its the opposite :o could eat fro England but I fight it all the time as the waist line is expanding ???

Sorry to hear you are still feeling rough.
When did you start taking the HRT? Hopefully your anxiety levels will reduce soon. If not it may be that type doesn't agree with you. Are you taking tablets - if so have you noticed drop in appetite since starting them?
If not - have you reduced the amount of exercise you are taking? I eat far less than I used to because I don't get so hungry but I have a healthy appetite that is consistent with my activity levels, and get hungry and enjoy my food.
If you have no appetite and this persists for some time and you can't identify another casue then maybe have a word with your doc just to get checked out.
In the meantime - yes great advice re grazing. If you add up what you've grazed, as long as it's a variety of foods then it's as good as a meal!

I have 'fads' too dependant on which shop we buy your groceries in ::) ..... so although it might not be all healthy-ish, at least I am getting something down me ...........
