Has anyone had success with Sage Leaf for hot flushes and if so how long did it take to have any affect?
I had to come off HRT at Xmas after 4 years and have recently started taking Sage Leaf for the horrendous hot flushes and sweats I am now experiencing - have been taking now for nearly 4 weeks, but unfortunately do not see any improvement.
Should I persevere with the Sage Leaf or should I have seen some improvement by now?

Hi Tina 1957
I'm reading all I can re alternative remedies for the meno as I too have to come off HRT at the end of the year ....... not sure whether the doc will put me back on HRT as I am 62 in November. I've not heard anything about Sage as a therapy but if you keep your eye on postings, I'm sure someone will have some advice.
Good Luck and I'll keep reading this thread too

I would ask your GP for further advice. Or go to a Menopause Clinic if possible. I think Sage can complement other 'treatments' but if it were any use to the majority of people, it would be on the NHS ;)
There's a lady called 'Ruth Goodman' who does TV programmes, 'a year on the farm' springs to mind ....... she talked a lot about herbs, might be worth while looking up the programmes?

I read on internet about making your own sage tea and as i have a large sage plant i thought i would give it a go, i dont know if i did something wrong but it tasted awful and got tipped down the sink! xx

I tried sage pre HRT but it did nothing for me except made me feel very sick.
It is a recognized treatment for meno but like all things it works for some but not for others.
Good luck with it you may be one of the lucky ones.

One requires a good herbal book before making tinctures otherwise :sick02: ........ sage can taste very strong. Peppermint tea is OK-ish ::) ..........

I bought it in tincture form.
I have never tasted anything like it. I was so disappointed I had heard such good things about it. I just could not stomach it at all.
It went in the bin.....not cheap either.

I take capsule form (Holland & Barratt) - 2 x 2 capsules per day, so no bad taste.
No adverse affect from them, but unfortunately no good effect from them either!

I spent a small fortune on pills and potions pre HRT. It was always done in the hope that something would help control the flushes.
HRT was the only thing that helped. I really thought I would have no meno problems because I had never really had period problems or PMT. How wrong was I.
