Morning ladies *waves*
Just an update...
I posted a month or so back to say I was intolerant of progesterone in a big way, and my GP referred me to NHS Menopause clinic as she felt I had tried 2 types of HRT and it wasn't working "on to herbal preparations for you" :o
I planned to see a private specialist but in the absence of any fairly close to home (live in mid Wales) I decided to hang fire for the NHS clinic appt, and planned to go private after that if I found it unhelpful.
Well, I went to the NHS clinic last week - both the nurse and the doctor there were fantastic!! Made me feel really at ease - and sooo understanding!
She talked about utrogestan, and yes I could have it on NHS, no problem.
I also mentioned my libido (or lack of it ;D) - and she said I could have testosterone if it didn't improve - no problem!
What she has prescribed for me in the short term though is the birth control pill!
I did have the choice - and and her advice I said I would be prepared to try it, see how it went.
She said some prog intolerant women find it works for them?
Anyway, I have started on it and fingers crossed.
The next thing she'd like me to try is Mirena, but no pressure, after that or instead of that is utrogestan.
I feel so much happier about it all now, I did feel I had been thrown into a bleak wilderness a bit by my GP ;D when she suggested HRT wasn't for me, just like that. :o
Anyway, I'll start another thread asking how any ladies like me who are prog intolerant got/get on with the combined pill , meanwhile, I hope you are all getting some of this lovely sunshine!!!!!!! 8)

Thanks for the update! Always good to get feed back: and yes, enjoying the sun, had to come in - it's too hot ;D

Wow, that is good news. How long was the waiting time and did you have to travel far?

That's good news. I do get really annoyed, though, at the different treatments from different NHS trusts. I attended the NHS meno clinic in Oxford and there is no way that I could have testosterone. They didn't prescribe it and wouldn't test levels either. It's a shame they can't all give the same treatment and advice.
I had no problem getting utrogestan prescribed though although I couldn't use it in the end due to the soya content.

Oh I totally agree Taz, - it's a proper postcode lottery! seems so very very unfair!!! I do think the NHs should provide the same service to everyone regardless of location, for all things as wll, not just HRT :(
Milliemoo - I had to travel 17 miles (which is good for me as we live miles from anywhere big) , and the wait was a mere 4 weeks, I think! :) :)
CLKD - glad you got some sun LOL, even if it was too hot! ;D

It's not so much a postcode lottery - I feel that all NHS Menopause Clinics should be run in the same way which doesn't seem to be happening at the moment. I agree that it is unfair that some places are too far from an NHS Menopause Clinic and this is unfair.
They were lovely though and I saw them every three months for about a year I suppose before they referred me back to my doc. My round trip was just under 100 miles each time but they are the nearest to me. I was just sad about no testosterone for the failed libido.
