Hello helpful ladies -- my GP has just agreed to move me from gynest to ovestin cream but not sure I got a straight answer from him on whether or not I needed to start again from scratch with the nightly doses for a fortnight before moving on to maintenance dose, or just continue on maintenance but with the Ovestin cream not Gynest. I think he said that I should start with full two-week course but he's good at waffling and dn't think he gave definitive explanation. Thoughts anyone?

Welcome!  Go visit a Pharmacist in your local town.  Take the 2 preparations with you and ask for advice.   ;)

				Hi ancient runner

I should think that it will be ok to just carry on as you would have done with the gynest, that's what I was told to do when I changed to vagifem.  So if you have done the 14 days loading with the gynest use the ovestin cream twice a week.  How many tubes did your gp give you - mine used to give me 2 per repeat prescription.

Thanks Katy and CLKD -- two really useful bits of advice.

When I changed from Ovestin after 10 years of use 2x7
I was told to start Vagifem every day for 14 days  its a different preperation
As for Ovestin I went from Ortho after 2 years it just stopepd working but to be honest I cant remember
Ring GP up ask nurse or receptionist to ask him for you
Chemists are great but hes not your GP if you think he said it for 14 days then 2x7  then your probably he probably did

I would do that Suzi Q but he's semi retired and not in till next Wednesday! Pharmacist reckons stay on the maintenance dose and since it's x5 stronger than gynest was (and that had improved my problems no end) I hope this should just do the trick. It's up. Trout pout developing.... ;D
