Title: FSH levels
Post by: Mezzanin on April 21, 2013, 08:24:25 AM
My doctor says I am in perimenopause but my FSH level is 17, I thought that was a bit low to show peri symptoms. I am 44 by the way

Hi Mezzanin - it is difficult to judge on just one blood test as hormone levels fluctuate so much during peri. I thought that the level had to be over 20 although it can work the other way too when readings can be high but you continue to have periods for years afterwards. What day of your cycle did you have the FSH taken?

Hi Mezzanin, I'm also 44 and have recently been told that I'm peri-menopausal, my fsh level was 21. I have other symptoms such as irregular and heavy periods, insomnia, occasional night sweats and hot flushes, aching muscles, low moods, etc etc! Joy! I find this forum really helpful with lots of experiences and information. Lx
