Well after a really good run of feeling better and better on HRT, I've fallen into a bit of a hole...It started with the flu (proper flu!) last week, which has now turned into a bad chest infection . Unfortunately my mood has dropped with the appearance of this illness, I've been ridiculously tearful and now I'm really snipey at home. My anxiety has reappeared too.
Also, an in law of mine died of a terminal illness this week at age 43 and my husband has had a health scare very recently and we're trying to organise a house move and new mortgage atm. I've also said yes to more hours at work.
I now feel very overwhelmed again and unable to cope. I want to cancel the house move and just crawl into bed and hope everything goes away. It's really worrying feeling the old style thinking re-emerging in me- it seems then that it is just under the surface waiting for weakness so that it can take over me again.
So, thought I would turn to my MM friends for words of wisdom etc...
Thanks for taking the time to read this xx

Hi 2cats...first of all a big hug:-)
I know what you mean about it being just under the surface.
I felt great this morning than an incident had me crying and wanting to go to bed and hide like the old days :-(
When we are ill..flu etc our bodies rapidly deplete what goodness we have in reserve and the stress of a berievement plus worrying about OH and house move would tax any 30 year old!
dont try and be wonder woman and remember that before meno we were allowed to suffer stress/ berievement etc! give yourself a break and have a good cry :-)xx

That's a heck of a lot of stress all at once :( Not suprised you feel bad.
I cant advise on HRT as I havent tried it. Hope once your health improves you start to feel better.

I wonder if your illness is preventing the proper absorption of the HRT hence low mood etc. Not sure what dosage you are on but is it worth upping it a bit?
Also I think HRT can make you feel so much better but still if you take too much on you can revert back to lack of energy etc. Try not to take everything on your own shoulders and dish out the chores/responsbilities until you feel more able to cope. HRT is great but you still have to look after yourself! x

jax, katieLiz and Milliemoo - thanks so much for your kind words - they helped me so much this morning when I read your replies. :)
I really hope I'm back on track again soon - especially once the antibiotics work on my chest infection.
This bloody awful weather doesn't help either does it!?
Thanks once again xx

Other worries usually seem that bit worse when you are unwell for other reasons and the weather is miserable as it is now. Hope you will feel much better soon.

Hi there :), I am just suffering from the same kind of thing, a bad dose of the flu with a cough and after 6 months of feeling good on hrt I feel like the old feelings are returning, so you are not on your own, we should ride the storm and come out the other end smiling, hope you are soon feeling better

I agree with Suzi. We need to listen to our bodies more at our age. My body says I need to eat some more of that chocolate egg right now :)

hahaha Milliemoo, then you enjoy that chocolate egg! x ::)

Red shoes, sorry to hear you are feeling unwell :( Another couple of days and I'm sure you'll be back feeling fitter again!
I wonder if it's common to feel the menopausal problems return when you're ill??
I'm now physically well but really struggling with anxiety again....I can't believe it's back after feeling soooo much better for quite some time now.
Luckily this time I have more skills to deal with it but it's still a horrible bloody feeling when you're driving/walking up the road and your head is telling you " you can't do this, you'd better go home", plus the heavy weight that's now back in my chest again!
Bank Holiday weekend was a real challenge as I was back in my headspace of thinking my marriage might be over....I'm a mess inside the calm exterior.
However, the way forward through this is not to fight it but accept it as how things are for the moment! Easier said than done I know........ :)

Hi 2 cats, and sorry you are feeling low again, you sound just like me- I have just upped my dose of hrt and had a few weeks of feeling great, and now the awful feelings are back, brought on I think after going to a funeral for my daughters mum-in-law, who died from breast cancer- I was fine on the day but have felt v low and anxious ever since- I think because my daughter is so upset, it has really got to me, it does seem as though it is just lurking beneath the surface all the time and doesn,t take much to set it off again- I have been waking up for the last few mornings with an awful feeling of dread and panic, and can't stop crying. I too had the flu 2 months ago and felt really anxious and depressed with it- it does deplete all your energy I think- really hope that you feel better soonxxx

Late on this one. With me any anxiety is physical, i.e. queasy stomach, woozy head and shakey legs. Enough to drive me under the duvet, move over ;)
Can you step back from the extra work? 'Flu can make the sufferer weepy, very tired, anxious ....... it's a nasty old Bug >:( - be kind to yourself!

It's good to know that it may be common to go downhill with meno stuff when flu comes along. I'm so up and down at the moment! Due on next week and unfortunately the mere sight of my husband atm is enough to annoy me. Some months I get nothing at all then boom, I have a bad one! Think it's due to the extra stresses and strains due to poorly nan, death of family member and frustrating mortgage application etc, that must be doing it. Reasons/excuses doesn't make it any easier to deal with - for anybody....
-
One thing is OK, more than one hassle is enough to cause anxiety etc.. Be kind to YOU!

Good morning ladies, hugs to everyone who is feeling bad ((())). I thought it was just me and my rotten luck, Ive been back on 1mg HRT since Dec and have been feeling like my old self until about 3 weeks ago when i stated to feel like VA was trying to sneak back in. After a week it was getting worse and out of desperation i introduced another HRT at bedtime, this has kept it a bay a bit but yesterday i had a complete meltdown.
This is affecting my marriage im so down today, hope it lifts soon. xx

Hi there,
I'm new on this forum but would like to send my best wishes to everyone who is not feeling right at the moment. Coping with this phase of life has been incredibly difficult and its devastating when it interferes with normal home and working life. What drew my interest to the forum was this conversation. I take bio-identical HRT and have been doing so for 3 years. However, I have found that on a regular basis I need to increase the dosage of estrogen. I am now on the maximum dosage and, once again, it feels like its wearing off. I mentioned this to my doctor and she told me that there was a phenomenon whereby some people appeared to become resistant to HRT and regularly required increasing dosages. Obviously, this is not possible if you already on the maximum dose. I wondered if anyone had any experience of this?
many thanks
Nia

Mrsb21, - I hope you feel better soon, you're in good company here!
Nia - which HRT do you take? I think you'll probably get quite a few people reply about this topic if you put a new thread up? I'm going back to the docs next week to see if I could do with upping dose.... :)

Hi, when I went back to gp about how I was feeling she immediately doubled my doze to 2mg per day. She said the younger you are then a higher doze is often required as.
I'm back to square one again, can Hrt be taken along with citalopram x
