Title: new member saying hello
Post by: ladybird52 on February 18, 2013, 02:09:22 PM
Hello everyone,

I found this webpage/forum completely by accident but have found it brilliant for info/advice etc. and very helpful in making a decision about HRT.  I am 52 years old and in the last 6 months have been feeling terrible, with hot flushes interrupting my sleep every 2 hours as well as feeling very anxious most of the time.  I always thought I could manage to pull myself together but it got so bad that I decided to go ahead and give HRT a try.  I have been taking Premique low dose 0.3mg/1.5mg for 2 weeks. I really can't believe how quickly they have helped and I feel a whole lot better already. Thanks again.

Hi

Thanks for replies.  So far so good....apart from last night when waking up again every 2 hours I resorted to wondering round the house in pitch darkness (trying not to wake hubbie up) trying to calm down as my heart was going ten to the dozen and feeling hot again.  Lots of deep breathing later I managed to get to sleep again a few hours later hours later.  The funny thing is I noticed my neighbour was also awake at the same time and she's probably also about my age.  It felt strange thinking perhaps she was doing the same thing! I suppose Rome wasn't built in a day and I think I read that one of the side effects of the HRT is insomnia...will persevere!      Andrea

Welcome lafybird52 , like you I am new to this site, it was my doctor that pointed me to it. I'm so glad to have found it. I didn't realise a lot of my symptoms were down to menopause. I have just started hrt (two nights now) and already I have slept through both nights, something I haven't done in years. I'm wondering if its just coincidence as its early days. It's good to know others are suffering or enjoying similar things. Good luck with your hrt journey x

As most GPs start you on a low dose HRT you may find if symptoms start to return you may need the dose increased.  I have read on here a few times women have abandoned HRT because they felt it wasn't working but my guess is they needed to take more.

The first week for me on HRT made me feel so much more relaxed but after a while it felt like my body was craving the HRT.  After six months my symptoms were returning so my dose was increased and I have been taking 2mg for over a year now and feel so much better.

Just wondering if you took your HRT in the morning and maybe you can't sleep as your body is ready for another dose.  I always take mine in the evening and have no sleep problems - I also think this helps relieve any morning anxiety as well!
