hi ladies thought this might be an interesting thread got some money for my birthday and was looking to try a different perfume i normally wear channel either coco or chance i also love jean paul gaultier so something along those lines would be a nice change whats your favourites :)
-
Hi there, I really like Allure by Channel - expensive, so I use it sparingly! :)
-
Jimmy Choo is really nice..The EDT smells quite different than the EDP. The EDP lasts all day.
-
Miss Dior is my favourite day, Coco for night. In the cheaper seats, Kate Moss, Darling and Just Pink.
Bramble
-
bramble is that the original miss dior ? have they got a new one out now ?
-
Pure by DKNY
-
Armani code
-
DKNY Be Delicious range are lovely too. Another one which I like is Marc Jacobs Daisy. It depends on what you like really.
-
I like Clarins fragrances. I used to love Par Amour but that's discontinued now.
I still wear their Eau Demistante (which I can never spell).
I also like Calvin Klein Euphoria but I only buy that when it's on special offer at Superdrug.
-

Yes the original one.
B
-
Calvin Klein Euphoria is my favourite.
-
Quite a lot of perfumes disappear quickly on me. However, I use these the most.
Coco Chanel Mademoiselle (mostly)
DKNY Be Delicious
Alien for some evenings, depending on the mood.
Another one I cannot remember - meno brain today ;D
Has anyone notice how much perfume has increased in cost in the past 2 years? Or is it just my imagination?

mummy bought me chanel cristalle for my 16th birthday....soooo special and I loved it. she always replaced if every year :-) When she passed away, I bought me it from her the 1st xmas but it wasnt the same and the smell upsets me still :'(
-
thats sad jacky maybe when you smell it you try to remember the happy times when your mum gave you the perfume :-\
-
If we can talk nostalgia, one of my favourites from teens was Goya, Aqua Manda. Also loved Soire de Paris, still have a little in a drawer, brings back good memories and a lovely bottle. Avon, Timeless was also a favourite, still available. Fond memories also of Coty, L'Aimant, Tweed, Charlie and Anais Anais.

Theres a new Givenchy out soon called Lau Patoiu smeels yummmy
-
Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. One year I got one which had a shimmer added to it, great for nights out.
-
so many lovely perfumes need to get into chemist and start testing isnt nice how a perfume can bring back memories just one smell and i can be taken back years or miles away in a lovely :) hot country
-
Perfumes can take me back like that too. Fortunately all lovely memories for me.
-
yes me too i always tend to buy perfumes when we go on holiday so all good memories :)
-
I think lovely smelling perfumes really help to lift your mood.
-
Many years ago, we went on holiday to a Greek island. We used to sit at the same taverna every night. A young woman walked past each night and my DH commented that she smelt nice. One night as she passed by, I asked her what perfume she was wearing.....anyway it was Dune and I bought some at the airport. ;)
One night when he was due home from work, I spruced myself up and sprayed my Dune on, and waited for his reaction :-*
He said ' Have you bought some new air freshener, because it smells awful '
>:( >:( >:( as I said it was many years ago, and can laugh at it now ;)
-
That reminds me of a time we were on holiday and like you, I liked the perfume another woman was wearing and got OH to ask her what it was. It was Amarige, I got some and wore it for a while but don't like it now - too sickly. I bought another perfume (J'adore) at duty free one year and I lost it on holiday one night when I was a bit worse for wear ::) ;D
-
I think the same perfume can smell different on different ladies, something to do with your own body chemistry. I have never found a perfume that smells nice on me apart from Impulse Hint of Musk which is about £2.99 from the supermarket ::)
-
OK positive thoughts day!
The list of my "other" favs starting as a teenager are...
Alisha Ashley musk oil, still live that. Sandalwood, I think Yardley made that..dont think it still around. I used to use impulse hint of musk too but dont like it now. Then there was avon Timeless, Coty Laimant, anais anais, Angel blue. Joop for MEN pinky one, loved that and wore it as perfume...lol
my current ones are vivien westwood....extravagant but scrummy! and boots musk body spray/deo for everyday.... looks like musk has stuck with me....lol
-
I usually only have one perfume and it 's never an expensive one. I just can't bear to spend so much money on perfume as I can never smell it on me anyway.
Last year I asked my husband for perfume for Xmas as I had run out. It lasted me 6 months and then I asked for some more for my birthday. Now I've run out again and I asked him if he would buy me some more for this Xmas. He said "What! Have you used it all again!" ::)

-
I break out with cheap perfumes, honest. ::)
-
as a few ladies are saying perfume smells different on different skin, i once made the mistake of buying a 100ml bottle of opium (not cheap) after loving the scent on other ladies but on me its smelt like cats p :'( so very disappointing but a lesson learnt :)
-
I like Ysatis (Givenchy), and Estee Lauder White linen. I also use Body Shop White Musk, and their lovely new White Musk Libertine.
-
Am I the only one that's not really bothered about perfume? ???
I hate it when some people drown themselves in it- there was a woman I used to work with who did that and I could almost taste it when she was in the room. Yuk! :sick02:
I did get one from Avon as a present, Bond Girl (hehe) or something it's called. That's not too bad but I only wear it very rarely. Hubby prefers me au naturelle

I know what you mean with that one. Used to work with a girl who would drown herself in cheap stuff. You could smell her wherever she went. Even knew when she'd been in the toilet. Needless to say if I ever smell that smell nowadays I feel my stomach heaving!
-
I mix a one or two of drops of rose geranium essential oil with some undiluted Classic Fenjal oil, I keep it in an empty essential oil bottle. I then have my own signature scent.
I have had many people ask what is that lovely smell, mostly men, one said that I smelt of Italy. I think its the vanilla that attracts men ( survey I think)
Not a good idea if you have a sensitivity to essential oil though.
-
catweazle i am not a regular perfume wearer only for special occasions or when i get a sense of odeur de armpit ::) a bottle will last me for 2 or 3 years and i really do prefer the impulse sprays they are more dilute that a perfume :)
-
i always wear perfume always have but i agree women that drown themselves make me feel sickly i have sprayed perfume on myself in store before and havent been able to get it washed off quick enough i dont always think its the cost but just what suits your skin
-
I've just had to ditch my Lovely perfume as it had gone off. They do say that they only have a one year shelf life, though I do have mine for more like 2 years.
My mum had a bottle of Intimate, think it was by Revlon, years ago. She kept it so long we nicknamed it Antimate! It was rank, but mum thought it was fine.
-
yes i try to keep mine i its box and in a drawer isnt it the light that sends it off
-
One of my favourites was Byzance by Rochas - and they stopped making it :'( So I have moved on and now love Allure by Chanel, Truth by Calvin Klein & also Euphoria by Calvin Klein. I agree that perfume smells different on different people, so I think it's trial & error - visit Boots and try some new ones out. I am hoping Santa will bring me some new perfume this year, as I have been exceptionally good ;)
Spadger x
-
I've been good too Spadger, but doubt hubby would even think to buy me perfume ;) He bought me for the very first Christmas after he met me and my skin came up in hives. I hadn't the heart to tell him, so kept putting it on and put up with the sexy lumps until we got engaged. ;D
-
Beyonce Heat - got it from DS for my birthday yesterday and really like it.
-
Happy belated birthday Nifty. Hope you had a lovely time.

-
Thanks Firewalker, I did and spa break was heavenly. :)
-
I found some of my favourite perfume today, I last had some 20 years ago i didn't know they still made it it is marks and spencer Florentyna and is a mixture of gardenia, jasmine orange blossom and musk, i love it :)
-
I have put in a request for Calvin Klein Euphoria. I've had it before and it actually lasts on me - some others don't have any staying power on me.
-
Love Cartier la lune for evenings, have used Chanel Chance so much recently I can no longer smell it on me, J'adore and am saving my Boots points for some more Gucci Flora
Flyaway x

I adore Coco Chanel and have worn it for years, but have recently stopped as my friend said it reminded her of 'old lady'!!!!? I have defected to Miss Dior (not original one, the other one, used to be called Cherie I think) which does make me feel young and attractive.
I used to wear Charlie, and something dreadful called 'Knowing' by...(can't remember) - when I smell it now it practically makes me heave, but I thought it was the last word in sophistication when I was 20. Funny how you change!
My mother used to wear Tweed, and my dad spalshed on Brut in the green bottle - I still LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that aftershave! Very happy memories for me.
-
Brut did and still does it for me every time! ;D However hubby loathes after shave with a passion these days. :( I did get a really nice one for my son once which was by DKNY I think, which he loved.
I got a present of Chanel No 5 once for my birthday from a friend. I thought I was so sophisticated, think I was about 17 or 18. However, I soon discovered it gave me migraines. :(

That takes me back! When I was still at school (maybe 15/16) I used to work holidays and weekends in a shop. The woman I worked alongside was a lovely person, really stylish, very funny and very charismatic. She was probably about 45-50 then but we got along really well and I looked up to her. She always smelt lovely and told me it was Tweed and whenever I get the faintest whiff of it now, I always think of her. :)
-
Brutt 33 still takes me back to an old boyfriend and Saturday evenings at the speedway and stock car track and 'The Air That I breathe' by The Hollies takes me there as well
-
My favourites are the orginal Lacoste for women (not the new pink) and Orla Keily. I like fresh scents like White linen and Diorella, but the former two are my current faves.
-
so many ideas since i started this :D going shopping sunday afternoon to try some new perfumes someone suggested trying narciso rodriques so gonna try that in debenhams been told its along the lines of coco so iam hopefull i will like it anyone else heard of it ?
-
It's funny isn't it, how the olfactory (I think that's what it's called) sense can propell you back to a certain time and place...
I also went through a phase of wearing aftershave, because I really couldn't find a perfume that I liked! I used to wear Jazz (YSL I think) Polo, and Aramis Devin (absolutely gorgeous, you can't get it in the UK any more I don't think) also Givenchy for men (yum). I've always been a bit of a tomboy!

quite upset really :( bought a new perfume it is black orchid by tom ford tried it several times whilst partner was with me before i took the plunge and payed out £95 now ... other half keeps saying that he can smell onions on me havent eaten or cooked with onions since i have been wearing it :( i like the smell but its putting me off now think i made a mistake should have stuck to my coco ;D
-
Oh no Kerrieann, how disappointing for you.
Does he have the cold by any chance? I know that can cause a smell of onions on occasion?
Just trying to be helpful.
Glad you enjoy the smell yourself though.
What about asking a good (and honest) friend?
Although, smells are different for different people.
For £95, I am sure it wont smell of onions.
Fx
-
I put in a request for CK Euphoria for Xmas and got it. I know that suits me and retains the smell, unlike some others I've had.
-
Did you buy from a reputable supplier Kerrieann? It could be that you have a counterfeit.
Taz x
-
Surely shouldn't be counterfeit at £95 - I'd never pay that for a perfume.
-
How would you know though? It was just an idea. I'd pay it if it was something I liked. Nowadays it's not even the equivalent of two tanks of petrol!
Taz x
-
Quick Splash It All Over at the pumps then Taz ;)

hi ladies no i dont think it could be fake as i bought it in selfridges other half doesnt have a cold no but he always comments on perfumes or aftershaves when we are out and about and he does have quite good choice o well i will just have to enjoy the perfume myself and use it up as i ant throwing it away at that price ;D
-
Ha ha Honeyb - yep!

Almost anything by Estee Lauder.
BB
-
Has anyone mentioned 'Poison', the original one by Dior. Used very sparingly, it's delicious! S. x
-
I wore ysl Elle for ages but the smell changed on me.
Now wear Gucci Premiere, Elizabeth Arden Green Tea spray which is so fresh
and my son bought me Marc Jacobs Lola for Christmas which is nice.
I don't wear them all at once though ::) lol!
-
I was lucky this christmas and received Elizabeth Arden Green Tea may save that for the summer.
A big fat hint a few months ago when my Blue Grass was running out and my husband bought me Estee Lauder Intuition! Love that perfume and haven't had it for ages. You've got to use your intuition !

I have a perfume to spray the bathroom after DH has 'been' ;D - I don't like it on my skin but in the air it is lovely. It belonged to his late Mother and a small squish is enough ;)
-
I had a bottle of Dior joy, and
Bottega Vanetta la sensual.
Both gorgeous.
But I do like , Estée Lauder, White Linen, and Beautiful.
Ysl, Black opium,
Calvin Klein, Beauty and Eternity.
And anything by Dior,
I love my perfumes.
I used to buy my mom, Avon's Timeless. Years ago. Loved it.
-
Hi hero. Yes Poison takes me back, I wore it constantly when I was in my 20s thinking it was very chi chi. The first time I bought it from Boots I thought it was pronounced 'Poisson' (like French for fish). Luckily the lady behind the desk didn't smirk at me. I bought some a few years back and actually wore it on Christmas day for a boost. I have spent my life looking for something that smells like frangipane as that is my favourite smell in the world.
-
I opened the box of Poison and sprayed it on our plane
coming back from holiday years ago,
Omg, everyone started coughing, all I could do was apologise.
I felt awful.
🙀🤭😷🤧😷🤧
-
My favourite is Chanel No 5 but also like Miss Dior and Estée Lauder Private Collection 😊 x
-
Currently wearing Calvin Klein Obsession.
-
Do any of you ladies pop into Boots and get a free spray when out shopping.?
(Or Debenhams)
I do it all the time.
Then scarper when the girls start walking towards me....... :hapij:

It's what the samples are for ;D but sometimes I've tried something that is revolting and it's the only perfume that really lingers ::)
I like eau de cologne or something light like philosophy pure grace, my other favourite is Chanel Coco, I find heavy perfumes give me a headache.
-
Any ladies remember Gingham? Or Smitty? I loved them both and have searched unsuccessfully to find these again. For a cheapie I like Chique but go through 100ml bottle very quickly as it's only cologne. My all time favourite nowadays is the pink Narciso Rodriguez and a 50ml+75ml shower gel+75ml body lotion for about £55 is a real bargain.
Happy New Year to all reading this 🥳 🥂 🎉 xx
-
I like anais anais just now but usually it's nina ricci l'air de temps for me.😘
-
I am into Fragonard since going on hols to Nice. M&S stock it and I can pick it up from the food shop :o
-
Going to go back a few decades but since I was 18 I have always used Blue Grass by Elizabeth Arden, its hard to get now but I still have a bottle and also Jessica Mclintock because it smells like lilies of the valleys
-
I've used Blue Grass since late teens also. Was pleased when they brought it back after it disappeared for a while. Went to buy a Intuition Estee Lauder yesterday to find out that that has now been discontinued. Why do they do that to customers who stick with perfumes they like.
-
Oh, nice thread scents always peri me up. I use a smalll company, Abbey Perfumery, Hooga, is quite honestly a hug in a bottle, Joe Smooth is slightly coffee like ( smells far better than I can describe) which is a more up and get going fragrance, but their Terra Mirus is my all day whatever the circumstances scent.
Hard to but online but they do sets of trial sizes. Terra Mirus on paper was the worse sounding for me, but is 100% my fave! Highly recommend the company.
Fragrance stirs up a lot of memories and I wear what matches my moods. Happy sniffing!
-
Wow this is an old thread :o
Got to be YSL Paris for me or the original Dior Poison (in the very dark bottle)
-
A woman I worked with wore YSL Paris and I used to follow her like a Bisto Kid( ages me) then I tried it on me.... And it was horrible.... Strange how fragrance reacts to our different skins.
-
Givenchy Very Irresistible for me.
Plus any that remind me of my mum, so most Chanel, plus the cologne 4711. Want to go out and buy some now!
-
Ha yes Sarah,is it something to do with the ph in our skin or something?
-
I'm not sureJ Jaypo, but I just know never to buy something just because it smells good one someone else. And those testers on cards, may give an idea of you may like the initial scent, but it does have to be worn on you, and it evolves through the day too.
Penguin,4711! My first perfume aged about 6 given for a birthday present with a box of bunny rabbit hankies! The perfume long gone but I do have one of the hankies 50 years on!. When we lost my mum this year we found a huge bottle of 4711. Bought it home from hers but I am scared to open it as I think the smell may upset me, but too soon for me.
-
When I come out of a perfume shop, people give me a wide berth as I try them all up my hands and arms ;D
-
My favourites are Estee Lauder White Linen, & Calvin Kleins Beauty. The latter being cheaper now.
Oh, and I found my old favourite one Ralph Lauren Safari. Quite like that still.
I'm not sure what's happened to my sence of smell lately but, a lot of perfumes AND air freshners i can't stand.
I spray air freshners and hurry out of the room. 😂
I have Channel no5, Channel coco, and YSL Black Opium, and I'm not keen now.
Only one thing for it, .....to go round the perfume shops and try them.....making sure I take OH with me. ;D
-
It’s funny I should find this thread because I’ve been thinking of buying a perfume, haven’t worn one for years but now you go into a store and there’s hundreds to choose from, impossible to choose! I used to wear SunMoonStars (does anyone remember that?) and Cerruti about 20 years ago. Might be wise to start with testing Chanel as they seem to be popular here. I’ve tested a few Tom Ford and Laura Mercier ones but none are grabbing me yet.
-
Dior have some lovely ones.
I remember those perfumes Kathrine.
Sunmoonstars seemed so exotic back then. ;D
I got a free sample of Alien today. Although I had that one a few years ago, the new one however is gorgeous.
Happy shopping. :gym:
-
I will check out Dior then thanks jillydoll x
-
I love Dior but the newest poison is 🤢
-
I loved Poison back in the day, when there were about 10 perfumes to choose from. Now there’s 1000s. How on earth to choose? It would take me my whole life just to test them.
-
I'm using up a bottle of Red Door at the moment another favourite i've always bought. Much weaker than it used to be so won't be buying that again.
