Anyone had this as a meno symptom-lasting for weeks!
-
No Nigela. I have had sporadic eye twitching which may last a few hours. Had it before menopause also, so don't think it is meno related for me. I don't get it very often.

Yes, I have :o Really started to worry me. Lasted about a week. Mentioned it to the doctor and he said was common at my age! (51) and was usually due to stress. I think he meant feeling stressed because of all the symptoms of the menopause. Another one to add to the list. Mind you haven't had it since and that was over 6 months' ago.

I think that this is usually due to tiredness and stress rather than meno. I've had it occasionally; the most recent time was when Mum was in hospital and I was definitely both tired and stressed! It went once things calmed down and I started sleeping properly again.

Definitely don't think it is meno related. I get it from time to time. It can be annoying, but don't think there is much you can do about it.

I have had this, its really annoying and it lasted for nearly 2 weeks off and on. Maybe you need an eye test, or rest your eyes from the screen? Its generally caused by stress. Mine went away by itself. ;)

I've had a twitchy eye for over a week and it's driving me mad :sigh:

I have had this for the last week and keep worrying that people think I am winking at them.

It goes ;) ;D

Believe me, it is computers fatigue and stress. My eye surgeon said he had it over a week when he was taking tests to become a surgeon. I get it at least once a year.
Was told to stare hard into far distance as though you are trying to see the legs on a fly and then relax and repeat. Hold for about five seconds.

Thanks Trey, I'll try that.

My eye has stopped twitching Trey, brilliant advice. :thankyou:

Interesting I've had twitching eye for weeks. Coincided with other menopause symptoms of palpitations and anxiety. Slowly getting better with HRT. Anyone getting visual disturbances too? Eyesight feels suddenly much worse and get strange flashes when close eyes to go to sleep. All very strange and doesn't help anxiety.

Hi girls, I get this too, on and off. I have heard that it can be due to lack of magnesium. Makes sense but i have never been tested to know for sure. For me it goes by itself within a day or two.

I am stuffed full of magnesium :) but I still get these eye flashings sometimes, have had it investigated and nothing wrong with eyes or the backs of them, I get a photo taken each time.
It can be due to stress and eye floaters.
I get the eye twitching too, this is due to stress and tension the eye muscles get tired. It always goes away.
suey43 I would get the eye flashing checked out just to put your mind at rest, maybe book an eye test.

I had this annoying problem which lasted for about 3 weeks. Stopped just as quick as it had started, and then returned for a few days again. Gone at the moment, hope it stays like that.

I've got this at the moment, had it about a week. Yawning and sneezing sets it off too :o

Could try palming to relax the eyes. Rub hands together vigorously until the palms feel very warm and then place palms over eyes cupping them so everything goes black and your eyes feel warm. Try and hold this foe 10 or 15 minutes- maybe lie doen or sit in comfortable chair. Hold your hands so fings from one hand cross fingers on the hand and your nose fits in between-hope that makes sense.
I have noticed that I've had a couple of times of eye twitching both following a car shunt.

Thanks for tips. Will get eyes tested although did have them done a few months ago. May be a combination of stress and poor sleeping. Been suffering badly for over 2 months. Hoping that HRT will help but next step is antidepressants says GP. Had anxious night on Sat when teenage daughter stayed out all night at a friends without telling me and that's set me right back in terms of anxiety just when I was getting better. Feel awful again today.
