Hi all,
I have noticed lots of bruising on my arms and legs.
They are about the size of a fingerprint.
They seem to just appear for no reason without me knocking or banging myself. For instance, I woke the other morning and my OH asked me what I had done to my arm. When I looked I had 6 fingerprint bruises on the inside of my right arm.
When I was having a shower there were more on both my legs.
I find that I do bruise easily now but these are appearing for no reason unless I can't remember knocking myself :-\

Hi Dyan
Might be worth a blood test. Some vitamin deficiences such as vitamin C can cause bruising.

I remember my mum complaining about bruising which seemed to appear from nowhere. She reckoned it was because of her skin thinning as she aged, therefore the slightest little bump would show up as a bruise.
Don't know your age and if that may apply to you or not. If not your age it is worth getting it checked just in case, to rule anything out.

Thanks for your replies Libby & cubagirl.
Libby- I do take a vit c supplement daily(perhaps its not enough)
Cubagirl- I am 51 and I do tend to bruise easily on the slightest knock as I've got older but these bruises just keep appearing.
I did have a routine HRT check this morning but was informed when I arrived at drs that my GP was ill.I was going to mention it then but I now have another appointment on 26th July.

Un-explained bruising MUST be checked. It can be a sign of leukemia ........ I'm always knocking myself and think at the time, 'when the bruise appears I wont' remember how I got it' ::)

If you are on meds that warn about increased bruising you are prepared for them. To see them appear overnight needs to be investigated. If you are low on energy and feel generally below par it could be you are anemic but a blood test will determine this. Go for your check and be positive!
Good luck sister!

I feel ok at the moment but I had a funny week last week.

Just wondered if this was ever resolved? I have been experiencing something very similar.

I bang myself regularly and think 'when the bruise comes out I won't remember how I did this' ::)

Just caught up with this , how is the bruising Dyan? Did you see the Doc? PN x x

Hi PN,
My GP said it was because your skin gets thinner as you get older and some people have a tendency to bruise more easily.
I haven't had as many bruises lately.
Perhaps I'm getting more thick skinned ;D
Thanks for asking. X
