Which are breaking up all over the UK :'( ........ what would you grab on your way out?
I am going to pack a case - I already have 'photos in a large bag to grab. We are half a mile from a very dry field ......... with houses/flats/gardens between us and danger.
Medication
Address/Phone book
Vehicle keys
Bottled Water
Biscuits
Underwear
Tops
Good shoes
Blanket
Flannel
Soap
Large towel
Toilet rolls

2 dogs, 2 horses, 100 cows and 500 sheep and lambs. I need a large boot ;D

Those are most of the things I take on holiday!
The only thing missing is my husband, dog and a really good bottle of wine.

Exactly. I couldn't sleep for hours, wondering what to pack .... then looking round and wondering what to leave :'(
We are surrounded by woodland with dry tinderbox fields between the forest and the properties. Fortunately not many have thatched roofs, I would never buy in a 'pretty village'. Also we have racing stables locally ...... 2 chicken farms, 4 boarding kennels all backing onto to woodland :-\
Yesterday a few fires were started by farm machinery - bring back horses!!!

A few years ago the gentleman who came to service our gas fire told me he'd lost everything in an electrical fire which destroyed his house. He said that fortunately no one was hurt and that was what mattered. It made me think about this and as long as I had OH and the dog I'd be OK.

Maybe fields that border properties will in the future of more extreme heat have to have a firebreak ploughed between the properties and the field. It was always practise to plough a firebreak when burning stubble years ago.

That's a good reminder ! And any thrashing was done in the middle of the field? Using horses ;-🐎 🐴 )

Lots of old sensible ways have been forgotten. When people tended to stay in the same area, local knowledge was useful. In my village, we often have flooding when it rains a lot, since a small area that was never built on and got boggy was developed. ‘Floating’ foundations are very clever except the water has to go somewhere. Eg the road and next doors kitchen (very old cottage).

Well this un-exploded bomb is on the move, very very slowly :o. I wonder how many were prepared with a grab bag, cat crates etc. on an 'in case' basis ? Or am I the single person who thinks ahead ...........
Would love to see it set off in the sea 8). Good job that the person digging in his garden recently realised :o :o
