Title: Duvet Sets
Post by: littleminnie on July 15, 2019, 08:08:39 AM
I know people that wash them and put them straight back on. Whereas I, have a cupboard full.  Love buying new duvet sets, it changes the room.
Anyone do the same or is it just me?  :o

I usually have three.

I couldn't rely on being able to put them back on as, especially in the winter, they may not be dry in time.  I hardly ever use my tumble dryer.

I like white so I buy good quality one but with embossed patterns.  I change for washing once a week.

Oh yes Littleminnie, I love new beddding...I have quite a few aswell.
I'm aways looking, where ever I go...
Ive bought some rubbish ones over the years, that look nice until you put them on, only to find they're rough and would take your skin off.
So that's a lesson learnt.
But yeah, love new bedding.........

I love bedding and towels and have an airing cupboard bursting at the seams.  I always buy good quality as they look and feel nicer.  I try to avoid duvet covers with plastic poppers as if you have to tumble dry them (which I try not to do) they lose shape and then don't pop together. I prefer the ones with buttons.

Ditched the duvet 25+ years ago because it made me too hot and caused constant sneezing through-out the night.

The idea is that 1 has a duvet each - so that the quilt wraps round the whole body individually, therefore using the body heat to keep warm.  When we had 1 - it was being pulled back and forwards  :D

I love buying towels, bubble bath, shampoo ..........  ;D

I love buying towels too.  Don't like cheap ones though, they wash like rags.

Many years ago I put in our shop window the need for dog towels. Well they came home far better than what we were using in our bathroom  ;D

Reminds me: when I used to change the duvet covers and the  :catscratch: would be hidden inside; waiting; until I moved the covers  ;D

You only have to shake our duvet, and our dog goes mad, thinks it's play  time.
If she don't grab the corners and shake it, like it's a rag doll, she tramples all over it given the chance! 😂

We have three duvets sets two white and one pale cream which I alternate.
Have an airing cupboard full of towels but can't resist buying  lovely fluffy towels.

We also have a super king size bed which is lovely but not every retailer stock super king size duvet sets which can be a pain the number of times I've seen lovely bedding but the largest size they stock is king size well I've lost count.

I keep 2 sets at any one time  so one on and one off. Bought some lovely new ones 18 months ago when I got a new bed. Prefer a pattern to white. Got 2 different Scandinavian designs from John Lewis.
Re. Towels : Feel a bit guilty if I replace them too soon even though l like new ones. My Mum used to keep them for years! What do you do with old ones? Don't want to just throw them out.

Put them in a recycling bin locally (supermarket car park etc.), or take to a council recycling centre.  Dog re-homing centres are also pleased to have them.
