Right, who would you like to seat at your dinner table and pass an evening with.
shall I go first?
David Walliams
Stephen Fry
Dame Judi Dench
My brother in law
My Nanna
I'll keep thinking :)
-
I'd go for:
Nelson Mandela
Queen Elizabeth 1
My Grandad-in-law (is there such a phrase?)
Patricia Routledge
Terry Pratchett
-
Let me see.
First would have to be my dad. He died when I was 7 and I think he would have been great fun with lots of interesting stories to help the evening go with a bang.
As for anyone else I'm struggling as I hate being amongst people I don't know, but I'll think of some and get back to you.
-
Dustin Hoffman
Russell Watson(he could sing to me afterwards)
Rod Stewart(he could sing to me afterwards too) ;D
Gok Wan
I would pick Lee Evans but I don't think I would be able to eat with laughing at him.

Hmmm (great thread!), get my thinking head on!
Johnny Depp (a bit of eye candy! :yipi:)
Kenneth Williams (master of the double entendre! :clapping:)

Can't I just take some people up the pub - I am not one for sitting and eating for long.
Who is Tom Barnaby?
Taz x
-
As far as I can detect he is AKA John Nettles. ;)
-
Oh yes - silly me! I would take Frank Turner up the pub - nice to look at and interesting to talk to.
Taz x
-
as an aside - Frank at Glastonbury this year then?
-
I'd heard that about him too. I used to love watching him in Bergerac until I heard he had a nasty side to him. Put me right off, so it did.
-
I feel a bit like that about Shane Ritchie.
I love him as Alfie in eastenders but not as himself when interviewed.
A bit too big for his boots, I think.
-
There is no Glastonbury this year CLKD but he may be at Reading and Leeds. He is on a big American tour at the minute and my son's going to meet up with him in Tampa on Monday which should be a lot of fun. He is a bit busy for me to meet him up the pub I fear http://frank-turner.com/blog/upcoming-gigs/ :D

I would like-
Rupert Penry Jones
Johnny Depp
David Attenborough

-
You need a bigger table coffeemate ;D
-
Beethoven
Leonardo di Vinci
Elizabeth Vegee Le Brun
Marie Antoinette
-
Paul Carrack & Russell Watson then they could sing to me after dinner.
Prince Harry
I would say Lee Evans but I don't think I would be able to eat with the laughing.just looking at him cracks me up.
Julie Walters
Jennifer Saunders.
-
Um... let's see -
The Hairy Bikers, for their great banter about the food (which they'd have cooked)
David Mitchell, for his infectious sense of humour
Jo Brand, for her warm-hearted, self-deprecating jokes
Mary Berry, who's so knowledgeable about baking
Frank Skinner - always gets me laughing
Chris Packham, to talk about animals
Maxim Vengerov - great violinist and fascinating talker
Alina Ibragimova - ditto ditto
Olivier Latry - brilliant French organist
(Why did I put all these reasons in? Oh well, never mind...!)
Dulciana
-
Good reasons.
I would love to bring back people so that they could comment on how technology has moved on - whether Beethoven liked the various recordings of his music for example. To show Leonardo that he was as close as possible to being first in many things! To allow Elizabeth Vigee to talk with Marie antoinnette (Pity I can't spell ::) )
-
Jane Austen - because I love her books and I want to hear how the unfinished ones would have ended.
William Wilberforce - because of the decades he spent fighting against the slave trade - though I think he'd be sad to see how widespread slavery still is
The Queen - because she has seen & done so much in her life & seen so many changes
Queen Victoria - I'd love to hear Britain's two longest-reigning monarchs comparing notes!
One of my best friends who now lives in NZ - I haven't seen her for about 5 years now.
Geoff Hamilton - because he sparked my interest in gardening & because Willliam might feel outnumbered if he was the only man!
-
;D
Love it! Having the 3 Queens together would be great - Elizabeth I with all her jewels and background would have plenty to add I'm sure.
-
Himself ;) - to top up the glasses and make a cuppa
Leonardo de Vinci
Louis Pasteaur
the lady who invented X-rays ??? Marie Curie
Billy Connolly
Michael Palin
a couple of musician friends we dont' see as often as we would like
