Title: GP appt today- Testosterone on NHS but no supplies
Post by: Hurdity on March 22, 2018, 06:47:44 PM
Well today I asked for the first time to be prescribed testosterone on NHS having taken it for nearly 3 years as a result of one private appointment in May 2015 with Annie Evans (now retired). To my surprise the lovely female (gynae specialist) GP said she would prescribe it even though she had no patients at this practice on it although also works elsewhere and prescribes it there. We sat and worked out how much to be prescribed which was going to be approx 3 months worth (10 tubes) and I was so excited! However this was short-lived as the (practice) dispensary said that there was a supply problem with both Testim and Testogel and they were going to find out for me if/when they could get them in. The only other alternative is Tostran which is not ideal as it is double the strength and for a pea-sized blob of Testogel would be such a tiny amount and half a pea could be more likely to be applied inconsistently.

Anyway I thought I'd let you all know - because I have been waiting until my box nearly ran out - but giving me time to get it elsewhere if the practice were unable to prescribe it to me. I've got 3 sachets of Testogel left so hoping to get sorted in the next few weeks!

I really didn't expect it to be ( theoretically) so easy - things are looking up :). Hopefully the practice manager or whoever controls these things doesn't kick up a fuss!

Hi I posted this earlier today on Annie's post . Testim is being discontinued . Have also been told that testogel is only going to be available in pump packs , not sachets.
