Was at the GP today about my staining (3 week duration). She was really good and gave me an internal examination as part of my appointment she said my cervix was smooth and looked healthy but commented that I had a "creamy" substance present which she didn't think looked like thrush. I ask if I had used my vagifem last night but not used since Wednesday night. Will this still be my vagifem? Sorry rather disgusting conversation but don't want to Google and scare myself
-
Yes it dissolves into a creamy substance over 24 hours. Sometimes when you insert another vagifem you get this on the applicator from the previous one. I get this a lot as I use vagifem most nights. You might notice this residue on your pants too, it's just the remains of the pessary after the estrogen has been absorb and perfectly normal.

Tnx Dierdre that's the best explanation thus far :medal:

Hi hun
Yes i had my examine done thru my dr and she found the same creamy fluid she showed me because she couldn't see my cervix at that time when i first started using ovestin. She took a sample and everything come back fine .so i think its got to do with our hrt choices ..so dont stress ..
-
Someone on this forum posted some advice about inserting only part way up rather than right up to the cervix and I started to do that. Less reaches the uterus apparently. You'd think that GPs would know what the substance was though
-
Thank you sorry I am so pathetic
-
Yes I agree it will be the vagifem and no you are not pathetic Scottish Lass.
I am exactly the same 😊
-
Scottish Lass - what's pathetic about asking questions, nowt is OTT here! The GP wasn't sure either ::)
What goes up etc. ;-).
Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use too.

Bleeding started again she said if this happened she was going to refer me 😭
-
Best to get it checked out, it happens to the majority of us, I was always being referred when I was much younger. Its all very stressful this aging milarky!! :)
-
Thankyou my brain 🧠 is in meltdown
-
Being referred for a pelvic ultrasound.
-
Let us know how you get on? How long will u need to wait, 2-3 weeks?
-
For my overactive imagination hopefully not too long. Part of me just wanted to ignore it and hope it would go away but brave girl pants on
-
Oh don't ignore anything medical. It's not the worth the potential brain frazzle ::)
-
I wouldn't worry about the creamy discharge, vaginal discharge can often be creamy or lotiony. All v normal as long as it doesn't smell, there's no discomfort, and isn't greenish...

Just a wee update. Today I went for my u.s and all was fine 😁 as the radiographer said my staining might just be me ! (Odd as normal) One of the reasons for the update is to encourage anyone with unusual bleeding to go and get things checked . The ultrasound was quick and not uncomfortable and my mind was put at rest right away. All done and dusted in 20 minutes the most difficult thing was drinking that much water within an hour of the appointment for the scan, although I did get a gold star for following pre appointment instructions well 😁

So pleased everything went well today scottishlass. Get what you mean about the water, my bladder felt like it was going to burst last time I had an ultrasound....especially as they were running about 50 minutes late >:(

Did you have a transvaginal one?

Hi , I’ve read your post with interest as I also take vagifem & after 10 months& thought I was nearly there had the period symptoms from hell last month sore boobs the lot & last Thursday a small bleed . The staining/ spotting has carried on . Which I’ve not had before . Did your gp think it was the vagifem maybe ? Are you on hrt . I’m not ?
Glad all has gone ok for you today
Thanks ☺️

I am so pleased everything went well for you today  Was the transvaginal scan not any worse than a smear test or even not as bad as? xx

Hi Jules ordinary and trans vaginal x
Ok. I only asked as out of the last 3 I had, only the last one did TV one after offering it me. The other two said it wasn't necessary as everything looked ok.

My transvaginal scan was more comfortable than a smear as they don't need to use a speculum
