Title: Scary Ovestin Applicator! Do You Use It?
Post by: Tiredlady on April 06, 2022, 02:46:04 PM
Hi Everyone,

I have both Ovestin and e-string. I haven't used Ovestin because the applicator scares me. Plus how do you get the e-string up there, and out again any suggestions or experiences please? Thank you :) xx

What's to worry about the applicator?  My advice would be not to push it too far into the vagina initially.  If necessary, squeeze the amount onto a tampon or finger rather than the plastic applicator.  I have no problems.

'ovestin' needs using every night for at least 2-3 weeks.

No advice about e-string.

What do Doctors know  >:(  ;D

If the vagina is tight or tender, trust your instinct.  Little and often. MayB a small amount mid afternoon and again in the evening for 3 nights, which will soften the walls of the vagina.  Then try a little further in ...... the idea being to replace any oestrogen lost to plump up the tissues.  Good Luck!

You don't have to use the applicator, you can insert it with a (clean) finger.
To insert the Estring, just squeeze the sides together and shove it up. Best to use some moisturiser or lube first for ease of insertion. There are instructions on the leaflet that comes with it.

I put sylk lube on the ovestin applicator to help insert it. You may want to insert ovestin lying down and take some deep breaths. That is what I do.

Hi Tiredlady ……. I used Estring for a bit
found out it wasn’t for me but you must give it a go very easy to insert ( I was scared to start with and kept looking at the box 🙄)……very similar to a cap CLKD
those were the days 🤣🤣
I also use Ovestin along with Vagifem ….
You will get a handle on this and get the relief you deserve 😘

Get a good grip on the e-string or it will flip across the room as my Dutch cap often did  ;D.

The longer you leave trying 'ovestin' the longer it will take to ease symptoms.   :-*

Get a little on your finger and insert gently.  What's to lose?

You are a absolutely right, I think it’s a case of trying not to make a rubbish situation worse. But I am thinking I need to get on with it!

Tired Lady, it's really easy to apply Ovestin, l never bother with the applicator. Just use your finger and gently apply against the front wall of your vagina. You don't need to go too high, just high enough for comfort. Rub a bit round externally too as it all helps. It's fantastic stuff!

Thanks Diamonds and pearls, I will try and get it done, I am so annoyed with myself for delaying :(

Use a tampon, put the product on the end quite thickly and insert gently.  Don't push too far.  Believe me, I couldn't have coped without treatment  :-\.  It was like razor blades  :o up there  >:(

People in this thread with e-strings, how are you finding them? How easy are they to get out? (I'm pretty sure I can get one in, it's getting it out that worries me!)

Have they popped out at the wrong moment, like if you're straining on the loo?

And can you have sex with them in comfortably....?

I've been doing exactly the same as Diamonds and Pearls for years and it works perfectly. I dont like the appliicator, it's sharp, shaped too blunt for smooth insertion and also a lot gets wasted inside and a pain to clean out.  Hope you start to feel an improvement soon.

I have a small bottle brush to clean the applicator.
