I am often hungry. About mid-afternoon. I have dried fruits/nuts; bananas; I try not to reach for chocolate, scones, biscuits but find it difficult. I am sure that I started a similar thread :-\
What do others reach for?
-
Bananas first, then if still not satisfied, which I usually find I'm not,
I go for special k bars, or alpen bars, if I'm craving something sweet, it's usually biscuits,
my favourite are jammy dodgers, chocolate I usually leave until night time, unless I'm out and need sugar quick, then its got to be a snickers...
Not very healthy, but I suppose it could be worse...
Here CLKD, have a slice of 🍰..........🤫😉

Fighting off this yucky flu bug going around, I've gone off sweet stuff - hooray.
So I've been snacking on salt and vinegar rice cakes with Hummus or crackers and cheese spread.
Sticking to a savoury theme - I've just had a mug of chicken oxo and dunked some wholemeal bread and butter ;D
-
>hands back plate, licked clean ;D < :thankyou:
Oh Salad - :foryou:
salt and vinegar crisps are a good idea: I'm on Pringles right now
DH is cooking evening meal: chopped pork tender loin stir fried with fresh veg on rice
Went off bananas when I got a mealy one last week :o :-\
We have bars but I've gone off those ::)
Jammy dodgers :sick02:
Rice cakes didn't do it
What's hummus - sounds like something that David Beckham would drive ;)
Off shopping tomorrow so will have a look-see at what might be suitable.
-
we no longer have biscuits or crisps in the house, except at Christmas.
We have fruit, nuts and full fat live yogurt.
Really miss a biscuit with a cup of tea though. ::)
-
>hands over my last Pringle <
-
:thankyou:
-
Sliced carrots and hummus
-
Glad your back Jay?
Forgot to mention the rice cakes, chocolate ones for me, but I'm partial to the caramel ones too. Had cheese n crackers last night before bed, tonight might be crumpets n butter.
Can't stand hummus......🤮
-
Thanks Jill, I like celery and mayo,or peanut butter, until I was told I was intolerant to nuts 😟
-
What's hummus .........
I often have crackers with butter to go to bed on ........ gets a bit messy though 8)
-
Hate crumbs in the bed, get everywhere.....lol
I've gone mad on sweeties, like pear drops, and rhubarb n custard, ect...
No good for the teeth though.....
Oh and those herbal sugary sweets you get from chemists, can't remember the name...
-
Hummus is chickpeas, sesame seeds, garlic and oil all mooshed up,I'm not selling it very well am I,it's nice with pitta bread, although I think Jill will tell you differently
-
Oh Salad - :foryou:
Thank you - very kind of you :D

I keep my tomatoes out of the fridge. Vine ones which smell of tomatoes. If you fancy something bread-y or cake-y, CLKD, put a piece of bread in the toaster. While toasting, chop one tomato in bowl with slug of olive oil, salt and pepper and handful of herbs from windowsill (I'm addicted to coriander and to basil). Straight on the toast. Instant bruschetta in one or two minutes, very filling and not bad for you xxxx
-
Olives and feta :-) x
-
Breadsticks and peanut butter
-
My go to at the moment for an afternoon snack are marmite flatbreads. I limit myself to three but could eat more. My other half would never eat marmite but loves these. They are in the super aisles where you find ryvita etc
-
:thankyou:
-
I can do it at the moment stellajane because I am doing two walks a day for my back so I am enjoying being able to snack without guilt
-
Hungry today as I didn't eat much yesterday ::) - nuts to hand after a banana mid-morning, light lunch, an egg custard with a cuppa: by the pond in warm :sunny: :ola: : now fruits and nuts.
-
Can't beat chocolate but trail mix is a winner for me, the ones with the salty raisins. Peanut butter and a cut up apple to dip is filling too
-
I'm out of peanut butter and forgot to put it on the list ::)
-
You may be intolerant ?ive just been told I am & allergic to wheat, cut them out and no longer feel nauseous or get stomach pains 😊
-
TBH I very rarely get hungry inbetween, but if do an apple cut up dipped into peanut butter it's yum & very nutritious. 😊
-
I love peanut butter but can't have it anymore 😢
-
Custard tarts...love em. Not a very healthy snack....I know...
I used to love pineapple tarts, can't get them anywhere...☹️
-
The Portuguese tarts are too rich for me :o
Can't be bothered with apples or hard fruits ::). Too much preparation and chewing involved :D
-
Oh me too clkd, just can't e bothered,I eat lots of fruit on holiday as it's all prepared for you 😊 lazy or what
-
Oh Mother I have sinned :D :P
-
Almonds, prunes and very dark chocolate do it for me!!
-
At the same time :o
-
Actually, yes. Mid-morning ;D ;D
-
Biting is hard work Stellajane ;D. My Dad would eat the whole apple, core, pips, stalk ....... oranges gives I wind :o
-
Agree with oranges being hard work...
Many an orange has ended up in the bin only halved peeled, as I've lost my temper with the
bloody thing!! 😆
I love em too....
Anyone for grapefruit? Same with them, cut em in half, then struggle to get the segments out....give me acid reflux anyway....😠
-
Am not allowed grapefruit due to statins >:( but love 'em. Halved with a sharp knife, covered in sugar, left over-night to soak. Then eat. Also cut in half, covered in brown sugar and put under the grill to bubble. Good as a starter ;-)
