Inside when I opened it this morning it says 'your pressie is waiting here' :'( but my birthday is 2-DAY :cuss: ….. she even had the cheek to say on the 'phone "we're keeping your present here, hope that's alright" - well actually, it ain't but what you going to do about it last post being today :'(
So I have decided that as with my sister last year [long story short], I won't be buying for them again.
I collect paintings [well copies] by Vegee Le Brun - DH gave me her life story this morning ;)

Please don't despair over not receiving your brother's present yet, it could just be that it is unsuitable (maybe fragile etc.,) for posting! Try to look on the bright side for now.

I'm trying to put it to the back of my mind but as this has happened over the years often - and we have tried to point out that today is my birthday, *not* C.mas Day :-\
I noted in the 'birthdays' listed in the paper that today a Professor Le Brun has a birthday ……. he is President of the Royal Academy ??? ……. so now I have to look into whether he is connected to 'my' Le Brun ……..

Just catching up so :hbday: from me too CLKD! You're catching up with me (in age) methinks!
As for the present - we would often do this in our family especially if it's too big/heavy to post - no-one bats an eyelid whatever time we get a present or even if one is owed until the next occasion! Ditto my (grown-up) children with each other It's lovely that they still buy for you and would be sad to think you feel this means you don't want to buy for them ???. Parcel post can't be guaranteed at this time of year anyway unless it's Amazon or something. They sent you a birthday card well in good time - and that's great!
My husband never gets anything from his 3 siblings, nor does he buy them anything and can't even remember their exact birthdays! My 3 sibs and I do always remember each others' though!
Anyway hope it was a good one and you're feeling mellow and relaxed!

;D thought you'd never ask ……… a large cardboard box with a soap-stone oil burner, 24 votive candles and some nasty smelling perfumes to put in the top of burner >holds nose< …….. his wife did mutter 'sorry that you had to wait' as she handed it to me and I do like it - but DH was fuming underneath and he never fumes ……… for C.mas they gave me a bird-cage full of hand cream, soaps, bubble bath ….. which I will use to hang jewellery in once I get DH to put a hook in the ceiling.
It is the constant never getting my gift to me FOR my birthday that annoys us both: as well as the 'it was too heavy to post' comment ………. :'( - my thought is to stuff it into the loft because each time I look at it I will be reminded that they NEVER THINK about how I feel ………. :-\

I haven't weighed it, neither had they bothered. If weight was an issue, as DH and I discussed on our way home, why not send the token I had initial asked for ……….. :-X. They moan about anything that they have to pay more than £2.50 postage for - a few weeks ago we collected a rug for them because it was slaughtered and made near us; it was going to cost them £15.00 extra - he sort of quietly offered the amount but DH refused to take it :cuss: - and they ordered something for themselves that was going to cost £50.00 delivery from North Yorkshire - as I told his brother, 'you couldn't drive up there, collect it and get back for that amount'!!!!
It's their lack of thought - for goodness sake my birthday doesn't suddenly arrive even though I did at the time :rofl:

My brother in law has never given me a prezzie, let alone be pleasant. Didn't bother with the children very often. Hubby got a text on Boxing Day morning asking to meet up with him that afternoon in the nearby town, but he didn't see it till much later. BIL won't phone here in case I answer. :P I must be such a horrible person. Happily, I no longer have to deal with this man and hubby occasionally meets up but no longer gets upset or bothered. It seems most of us have difficult or unpleasant relatives. Sad for hubby as he no longer has any blood relatives other than our children.

We use Parcels to Go instead of Royal Mail. They either come and collect or there are drop off points. Posted all sorts of heavy stuff over the years including a wooden dolls house. If you can't afford or resent paying the postage then choose something different that costs less. Personally I don't like vouchers but they are very handy especially for teenagers.
