I called 111 about headaches and waiting for a nurse to call back.
The headaches are scaring me and Im just posting because I'm so frightened.
I've hydrated, taken Nurofen and I still feel the same.
I'm sorry for banging on. I had my astrazeneca jab on Saturday just last at 3:30pm.
-
I do hope the nurse will be able to put your mind at rest. I felt the same, had a very similar pressure headache, but as everyone on here has been saying I think a blood clot would feel so so so much worse. Two things might help, just keep busy, tidy that shoe cupboard - and do it mindfully - focus on exactly what you are doing and the minute scary thoughts creep in, refocus. The second thing is slow calm breathing. This is a great technique and the more you do it the quicker it puts you back into calm mode. If you are fearful in the middle of the night you could try calling Samaritans, they are there for anyone that is having a difficult time and I think you might find a talk very calming. You will get through this x

Aww thank you Gnatty so helpful, and feel more relieved knowing others have experienced it.
I will do what you said and I really appreciate you responding. I'm feeling a bit of a wreck at this time and I really need to stop posting everything that comes into my head :o

What is the worst that could happen? Did U get a call back yet?

I did, but it was so late I was out of it and in a deep sleep. Missed call from the nurse at 3 am :o
Suffice to say, the head pressure is there, it's not painful. It's kind of in the background and maybe just need to get used to it until it disappates. :-X

There's one perk about the vaccine, Ive beenn sleeping deeply for the past 2 days, and nearly slept over 9 hrs (unusual for me). So missed the call from nurse, which was at 3 am ish. The weird pressure is there, but trying to ignore it - it comes and goes. Doesn't hurt, jus annoying and well worrying, but thinking its a side effect that will go away soon hopefully.
Yes if I feel like I need to rest will definitely take a nap. Uusally put it off just so not to mess up my body clock.
Thanks for checking in x

Glad you're feeling a bit better. The official message downplays the experiences people have had - it seems fairly normal to have a bad headache and all sorts of other nasty symptoms for longer than a couple of days, but it makes sense to 'check in' if you're not sure and they will know what's going on. I think they would rather you got in touch than tried to 'tough it out', after all it's their job - they don't do it for free! No need to feel guilty.

Better now. ? Have you managed to keep yourself busy ?
How's your Mum?
-
I had my second AZ vaccine on Monday and have had a headache since yesterday. Information for my age group said headache etc was uncommon for my age group, if not for younger groups. Really? Seems fairly normal, having talked to others. I’ve reassured a friend that a blood clot head ache is far more painful than the background headaches we’ve experienced.

Hey there,
I wouldn't say better, just a weird spaced out, disorientated feeling. Still got headaches been popping Nurofen like my life depended on it.
I spoke to my GP today and he said it's a tension headache after describing it to him and if he felt I needed emergency help refer me to A and E, but I don't.
.
So I guess I have to deal with it. I was browsing which really I shouldn't be for others with same issue including pins and needles in face I've been getting which comes and goes. Found out quite a few people on the forum (not this one) had the same issue post vaccine.
It's like all my symptoms have been pretty much neural. I did manage to try get on with the day which put my mind off it for a bit.
Mum's good. Just horrible pain in knee (she had key hope surgery there to remove a clot), which apparently might be a tendon issue according to the nurse she saw at the hospital. ::)

Thanks, Ju Ju,
Yep, keep felling myself that it would be really painful and severe if it were a clot to keep myself from worrying too much. Thanks :D

Tension headaches always make me feel as you describe especially the spaced out feeling.

Oh I have altered sensation in my cheeks. Non related to headaches. As with tinnitus, I've kind of got used to it ::)
Keep hydrated. Eat little and often. Go for a walk or do something that doesn't entail bending your neck too often, i.e. if you read, keep the book up rather than on your knees ;-)
Glad your Mum is OK!

And yes, going to do exactly that :)

Hope you guys don't mind me rambling here.
So I keep hearing that after 4 days if headaches get worse better rush down to A and E. Is this up to 4 days post vaccine or from 4 days after the vaccine? Also, if you've had side effects - heachlache, fatgiue etc soon after the vaccine, does that mean less likely for things to get way worse?
Just cconfused. Yes, I still have headaches, tension, sometimes on the left side of head then moves to the right or both. Sort of pulsating almost. Anyone still experiencing headaches similar to to this 4 + days post jab. I'm wondering if it'll ever go. I'm eating, drinking, popping pain killers and hping my weekend (which will be about a week post vaccine) will be a headache free. :D
-
Hi, still got my headache. 2nd vaccine on Monday. It was bad in the night and pain killers didn’t make any difference. So not much sleep. Had to do my trans anal system stuff this morning. Kept doing things wrong, but my headache has all but lifted. Drifting in and out. So having a PJ day today. Both my son and DIL were a bit poorly for a few days. DH has been fine, as has my DD. Still much better than COVID-19.
-
Hi loonarider
I think you need to give it a week after the vaccine to feel back to normal.
With my first vaccine I was quite poorly and in bed for three days - fever with pulsating headache etc. That was back in january and there was nothing in the news about blood clots post AZ vaccine then so I didnt worry at all . Not a bit.
I had my second AZ vaccine 21 days ago and I worried about it a lot- even though it was my second. I felt weird for the first 7 days with shooting pains coming and going and felt spaced out. I had a lot of tension headaches- neck related and also above the temples. I think anxiety played a huge part of this.I am fine but slightly aware how many days since the vaccine it has been and I probably wont completely relax until day 33 rolls around!!
So what I am saying is - it is normal to be anxious especially as it has been in the news and very scary. But remember a headache where you cant stand up is the one to be concerned about. Plus vision problems- feeling sick etc. I read that the headache which is the one to worry about comes on suddenly and doesnt move around or come and go. It develops after 4 days up to 16 days ( and maybe later).
Anxiety can cause headaches and you tend to focus more on every slight twinge. I broke a blood vessel in my hand (without realising) a few days after my vaccine. I suddenly saw blood under my skin and had a complete anxiety attack until I realised what it was. I understand how you feel.
As each day passes you will worry less

Hey there,
Thanks for your response, always informative and stress relieving. Have to say, I can stand up, but have a bit of diziness, and my eyes are funky - can't expain it - possibly a bit blurry? Not sure if I'm looking for niggles or not or how to discern which ends up with me calling 111....again. Either way, I guess the good news it the headaches sort of gradually come and go.
I have had nausea soon after the jab and has come and gone too. Mostly in the morning, nothing to shout about though. Very mild. Just went to the garden to plant a tree and was finding it hard to bend, head started pulsting, or maybe that's just blood rshing to my head making things worse. I have the same when lying down...
ANyway, thanks again. And you're right, while I know I'm still chiming on here, every day that passes, I feel better able to get one with things.

Yes, much better than covid, got to keep telling myself that. So it seems the 2nd vaccine has it's side effects too, I mean I guess it's not surprising - but heard 2nd would be way easier since it's a lower dose? I dunno, I'm hoping it'll be a breeze. Take care ::)
-
I think it depends on the individual. I had no side effects after the first vaccine, apart from an achy arm.
-
If it were a side effect by now you would have been floored with pain.
I would get a home blood pressure monitor and take your BP, sitting, B4 eating at a regular time in the morning. The best of 3 pressures. I don't register on the one that DH has ;D. Keep hydrated and eat little and often. Headaches can be due to stress, sleeping to heavily, not getting enough sleep, not getting enough fresh air or exercise.

I used to have the wrist one, but turned out it was rubbish according to the paramedics who came to my house after having what I thought was a heart attack a few years ago ;D
So have been eyeing up the proper arm ones that you see in most GP surgeries, I get a bit obsessive about checking te pulse, BP, and other ways of meausring health though. But I guess it's sometimes good to check things are OK now and then.
I've hhad an unsatiable hunger since the jab, almost like I'm close to my period which I'm not - eating everything in sight. Or maybe yet another peri symptom. Either way, deifnitely trying to sleep, eat well (difficult right now) and stay active. My headaches aren't that bad like last night, nearly didn't notice them. We will see what tomorrow brings to the table... ???

I was thirsty for 2 days ........ also stress can use up energy = hungry.

I wonder how many calories we burn from stress! :spin:

Loads ......... probably :D
I had a headache yesterday. I hadn't taken in enough fluids for a few days. Out came the fizzy bottled water during the night. Better now.

I had a good meal just now, and necked some water. Headache lifted instantly.
Let's see what tomorrow brings, so far so good :D

I woke up with a worse headache this morning, but threw ibuprofen and paracetamol at it. Things got better as the day went on and now just about gone. Cancelled my singing lesson in the morning. That would not have helped me or anyone else! The headache was never as bad as a migraine, but debilitating as the days went on. Reactions like this are supposedly uncommon for my age group. My DD said trust me to be different!
-
...... or not. I no longer believe what they think is happening. Have you filled in the yellow card Ju Ju?

What age group are you. I'm in my early 40s.
Yea, I jsut started taking ibuprofen and paracetamol and they work well together.
It seems to come and go. I had a great night with no headaches yesterday, today a different story.

To add, I'm on another forum and the amount of women also experiencing headaches is pretty startling. The men not so much. I wonder why?

Because it is what it is?
Did U sleep?

Loonaraider, I’m 67. I’m fine now.

I did thanks. Headaches have gone altogether now. So it took just over a week for everything to dissipate. I'm glad the symptoms passed and didn't progress :D

Hi Loonarider
Pleased to hear you are feeling better now. Hopwfully that is now it and you can relax.

I have a background headache but it could be dehydration rather than after effects ::)

Yes, you won't be hearing about me freaking about vaccines and clots anymore  Yes, definitely more relaxed, now back to the peri symptoms ;D

Yes, have been forcing water down me like nobodys business, deifnitely helps (and eating regulary)
-
U don't have to force liquids! What colour is your urine? It should be straw coloured most of the day.
-

It's fine, to be honest I've been drinking when I'm thirsty now.
In other news, headache has returned and it woke me up at night followed by slight nausea feeling, then stsrted feeling weird warmth. It doesn't hurt it just feels like an uncomfortable pressure and a tight band is around it. This I've never experienced accept since the vaccine.
Trying to deduce whether the warmth and nausea is just hormonal stuff as have had that before, but it came on after the headaches which I think are linked to hormonal stuff, but the headaches most likely the vaccine as its a specific kind.
I had a brief respite of 2 days and they're back. So annoying. Obviously my mind runs to clots again. Hoping I'll be fine.
Anyone else get headaches more than week post vaccine? I don't want to be alone in this - really dampening my day. :'(
-
How much is your headache due to stress? Disturbed sleep? I ask as I do get headaches regardless of the vaccine. Woke up with a headache this morning as I going to visit my mother in hospital today. She’s not an easy person to deal with. You could say she’s my headache! Have you talked to the doctor? For reassurance?
-
I get various types of headaches all the while because of the medication regime I've been on since 1988. Still here!
2day it's because I didn't take my regular meds last night.

Thing is I usually don't have this type of pressure headache. It's not the kind that I'd get near my period where a paracetamol will sort it.
These pressure, tension type headaches started 6 hours after vaccination a long with joint pain. Joint pain gone, headache persists.
If it's a coincidence and the headaches that begin soon after the vaccine are unrelated then I can relax a bit, but it seems like a direct correlation to me.
I'll call 111 if it gets worse, though I'm also seeing the doctor for other annoying symptoms, so will mention it too.
Thanks for your input. X
-
Is the headache becoming worse? You are drinking, exercising, eating well? Take a pain relief although too many can cause bounce back headaches!
-

Ah OK, welp, I'll be seeing the doctor tomorrow and can annoy them with my questions ;D

Bounce back headaches? You can't win. I am taking Nurofen and paracemtol together when I feel the headache creeping up to prevent it getting worse (one hopes).
Oh and definitely drinking and eating well, maybe a bit too much as an anxious response.
-
How often: the body gets used to some medications - I would stick to 1 or the other now, if it were vaccine related it would have got a lot worse. Those types of headaches are unbearable, having sufferers crawling on the floor 4 relief.
Have you practised relaxation techniques?
-
Hang on in there until tomorrow and then speak to Dr. ( unless the headache becomes so bad in the meantime)
Hopefully they can reassure you.
After 22 days (since my second vaccine) I woke up in the middle of the night with one of the worst headaches I have ever had. it was all over my head and my neck was pulsating! I had to get some ice and lie there as still as possible. I was so worried.
I drifted off to sleep and was surprised to find the headache completely gone in the morning although I felt a bit spaced out. I dont know what caused it. Probably a mixture of things and maybe sleeping with my neck in a funny position. But I did panic and that almost certainly made it worse.
Tension headaches manifest in different places and I always forget this and think the headache I have is new.
Good luck at the Dr tomorrow.

Only when I feel the headache pain creeping in do I take them. Especially at night, otherwise my sleep is interrupted and feel worse the next day. Yes, I do breathing circles as I also hav e been diagnosed with panic disorder and get bouts of attacks when I least expect it.

Thank you kindly Meno mope.
Good to know about the tension headaches, as I find that mine move arond a bit, which ends up freaking me out. Yes, will wait til tomorrow when I see tge doc. So far nurofen is keeping he ppain at bay. When I had a phone trigage with my doc last week, he said that if it was serious painkillers wouldn't make a differene.
I mean they take the edge off so I guess that's something for now.
Thanks again x

The weird tension headaches are back. I've drank water, I'm in bed and scared to hell.
Debating with myself whether to call 111.
I had two days with no headaches and they're back.
I really don't think these are normal headaches. They zap. They started soon after my jab and haven't stopped and then when you think they're gone they return.
Tired of feeling scared and not knowing :'(
P.s ran out of ibuprofen, taken paracemtol about 30 minutes ago, no change yet.
So frightened and my partner is in a deep sleep that I don't want to wake him up from
-
Zaps are common . I get them due to the meds I take. Alarming, I go 'oh!' then it's gone.
-

Well that was crap, 3 hours sleep due to head pressure and the ocasional zap. Unfortunately, I hadn't any nurfoen in the house, just paracetmol which did diddley squat. I hope it passes.
Seems a lot of women are getting these tension headaches post vaccine on the open access government website forum. I just hope it will disappear soon, as one women had hers for more than 30 days post vacccine. This is torture.
-
How are you feeling today, Loonarider?
I have had a headache for over 2 weeks now. It comes and goes so some days I hardly notice and others it’s more noticeable but doesn’t interfere with life at all. Until this evening when I suddenly felt really sick too but after lying in bed for an hour it’s passed and I feel fine again...
Trouble is since perimenopause came into my life I panic a lot about my health so any niggle sends my mind into overdrive and I then google every terminal illness possible!
I had my first vaccine at the end of March so don’t think it can be related but doesn’t stop me worrying. I have spoken to 2 doctors so far who both diagnosed tension headache and don’t seem concerned that it could be more serious.
Hope you are feeling ok now. Did you ring 111?

Hey there Ellen,
It's funny you ask how I am. For the past week I've been relatively without the tension headaches, until the past two nights where it has woken me up from sleep in the early hours so went downstairs and cried eventually falling asleepm on the sofa by 5 am.
Not to mention my other annoying issues that are ongoing in the backgrounD. Had a massive panic attack and breathlessness that saw me staying awake until dawn again.
My quality of life really sucks - and it's putting me into a deep depterssion. I've got a doctors apponitment in 2 weeks time and I don't know if I can wait that long. If I was minted, I'd go private, but I have to wait, and pray I don't keel over until then. Im sick of it. The tension headaches have been an addition to already worrisome symtpoms that I've always had, so tired and fed up.
I hope you're feeling OK? It will be 3 weeks post first does of the astra vaccine tomorrow. Take care x
