Title: Clearing Wards : Coronavirus spikes - (part two [China] )
Post by: CLKD on May 11, 2020, 04:08:05 PM
Coronavirus: Wuhan in first virus cluster since end of lockdown

And what's with France not having to undergo quarantine or isolation?  Is that so F1 can cross into England ............  :-\

Somebody's brain dead. They can only travel 60 miles within France yet they can come to the UK to spread it here. Prats.  >:( (and that's the polite version)

France is only about 70 miles from my house.  If I lived in Dover it would only be 20 miles.

Distance  doesn't matter.  The point is they will have to isolate on arrival here, which they haven't had to do before.

The French won't have to isolate that's the point.  I think it's to get into Silverstone for the F1 talks.

Korea have reported spikes too - due to people going into night clubs  >:(

The Irish won't have to isolate either, or anyone who doesn't come by plane. By the time they actually implement it CV will be out of control in the UK again anyway so it may not matter.

Keep up the social distancing?

A friend pointed out earlier that we are allowed to converse with strangers at a distance on a park bench but not meet with more than 1 member of our family  :D.  Thank goodness that DH and I get on really well  ;D

The Telegraph is full of 'how to' - mask making, what may/not be open ........ that Garden Centres are opening tomorrow but not according to the Government, English one weren't mentioned  >:(. I will be keeping away from people, but we do anyway.

The Chinese city of Wuhan is drawing up plans to test its entire population of 11 million people for Covid-19, state media report.

The plan appears to be in its early stages, with all districts in Wuhan told to submit details as to how testing could be done within 10 days.
It comes after Wuhan, where the virus first emerged, recorded six new cases over the weekend.

Prior to this, it had seen no new cases at all since 3 April.

Wuhan, which was in strict lockdown for 11 weeks, began re-opening on 8 April.

For a while it seemed like life was getting back to normal as schools re-opened, businesses slowly emerged and public transport resumed operations. But the emergence of a cluster of cases - all from the same residential compound - has now threatened the move back to normalcy.

So either someone still had it and was asymptomatic or else the virus can live outside the body for longer than they think.

UK Hospitals told to clear Wards ready for a spike in 2 week's time.  Proves the point that the Health Service doesn't have enough Staff to divert C-19 cases to Nightingale Hospitals as well as continuing with hospital care.  BARTS states earlier this year that it will accept those affected by C-19 if they have been ventilated - raising the risk to staff and other patients: many will die due to not being able to access treatment for which they have paid!

Care Homes told that they can have free PPE until March ............ I wonder which types of care homes are included.

My son is about to start work in a care home as the only job he could get since leaving uni earlier this year... Let's hope they do protect the staff and patients as promised  :o

He may well enjoy buttering up the ladies ;-).  They certainly make a fuss of lads ........ is he much at banter?

As long as he makes sure that he keeps his hands well washed with hot soapy water, wears masks where necessary and strips off when he gets home, changes his clothing the next morning.  It will be good on his CV!

Thanks both. It was a toss up between this and Amazon - he thought the care home would be more rewarding. What a star! Certainly a worthwhile job to be doing, especially at the moment.

Here we go again:

Headlines without clarity - The number of daily reported Covid-19 cases has risen by a quarter, according to the latest UK government figures.
There have been 6,178 coronavirus cases in the UK in the last 24 hours, up 1,252 cases since Tuesday, and 37 deaths.

Is this due to more testing?  More people presenting with symptoms and being admitted?

Never mind clearing wards !!

Two wards of a hospital have been closed after an outbreak of coronavirus cases, a health board has announced.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg health board said it was taking "robust action" after 34 positive cases at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Latest Public Health Wales figures show the health board accounted for 25 of 31 Covid-19 infections "probably" or "definitely" caught while in hospital.

The health board said early evidence suggested the outbreak was "contained".

How does this happen after all these months, heads should ROLL!

34 cases probably caught in hospital - why?  It appears that there's a break in the cleaning chain somewhere.  The public at large are being told to keep away from others .......

When MRSA and C.diff were active there was an uproar!  We need isolation hospitals with dedicated staff so that there isn't the transfer between wards.

Thanks for asking CLKD, he's doing ok. Real in at the deep end stuff though. I think he's happy to be making a difference. He gets a covid test once a week which is good. He's just grateful to have a job tbh.

X

That's good.  How in depth is the testing?  My sister temp scans all her Staff 3 times a day and they have a private company taking nose/throat swaps weekly but the results take 5-7 days to appear  ::)
