HR Pufnstuff with Jack Wild and Mama Cass as Witchiepoo. We had just got our first coloured television, so all the children where we lived used to come in and watch it. Happy Days!
-
Mama Cass was Witch Hazel, not Witchiepoo!
-
What year was that pl knorman
-
1969/1970. I became obsessed after this post and started looking up old favourites from years gone by on YouTube. Other favourites, Tales of the Riverbank and Little House on the Prairie. A happy hour spent, but other half not impressed by HR PufnStuff!
-
Thank you I was def around then lol but have no memory of that one,I was probably watching scoobydoo I was obsessed with that then used to tear home from school to catch it around 4pmish.
Sorry if I made you obsessed lol wasn't it just nice to escape back to those times and young memories,I'm never off itv hub and bbc iPlayer re watching everything,at moment it's george and Mildred rising damp and on the buses lol sheer escapism love it lol.xx
-
Judging by your viewing choices, we must be around the same age. I have watched some of the George and Mildred's recently and they have stood the test of time. I loved Scooby Doo too. Quite ashamed that at 56 I currently love the Minions, is that permissible?! Oh to be little again, with no worries in the world!
-
No afraid not I'm the oldie lol.61 soon but never managed to get past 18 mentally lol,it's just the old body that holds me back 🤪 I'm doing now what I wished I'd done at 56 I'm so angry at myself for not catching on and taking steps then I was so sure it was all passsed for me,oh well I'll just have to keep kicking my own ass for another while lol.enjoy your day xx
-
Nearly 61 Daisydot? You're a youngster! Can I ask what you are doing now that you wished you'd done at 56 or is that on another thread...?
Taz x :)
-
Hi taz sorry I meant educate myself a bit more so I knew what to expect after the hysterectomy,I was 41,and was pretty much just left to it afterwards.I feel if I'd known a bit more I wouldn't have dismissed things that were building up over the years and putttng me through so much pain.last year was the worst one for me to get through but I did and I now know if I'd known what to expect several nasty accidents wouldn't have happened, long boring story but I've survived it and I'm a lot wiser now lol.My programmes are sheer escapism to happy times for me rewatching them let's me switch off.xx
-
I used to run home from school at lunch time for pipkins, however if you look at a picture of Hartley hare now he looks quite scary, like roadkill! After that came The Sullivans, an australian family during the war.
When I got home from school it was The kids from 47a and Tomorrows people and also I think it was called Kizzy about a gypsy girl who lived with her grandmother in a gypsy caravan.
No menopause in sight!! Happy Days
-
Ah yes, Pipkins and Hartley Hare, another favourite. And the Kids from 47A. I used to love Squiddly Diddly and Wanda the Witch, but no one my age remembers it and I know I didn't imagine it! Happy days indeed!
-
Bring me sunshine your lunch times were identical to mine. Pipkins and the Sullivan's then racing out the door to catch bus back to school.... :)
-
How funny 4mesons its a wonder we didnt need therapy after watching Hartley. if I could paste an image of him on here I would but it wont let me. I didnt have a bus back to school so I had to run half a mile!! Those were the days! if I was lucky I could pretend I was ill then at 1pm it was Crown Court!
Knorman I reckon Simon Cowell of xfactor fame used to watch your programmes as his two terriers are called Squiddly and Diddly!
Nice memories xx
-
I think I do need therapy lol maybe all my problems stem from Hartley ;D I'm tempted to Google a pic of him but I'm scared to look now
It was only 5p bus fare then I remember, you could go all over the north east for a 5p ticket
-
Thats why we watched the same lunchtime programmes as I come from the North East but havent lived there for 31 years!! I dare you to google him, but you will have nightmares. I quite liked his friend the brummie pig.
Another one at tea time was RRRRRRRRRunaround with the bloke who was in Eastenders his name escapes me. Good ole days!
-
Mike Reid! Loved Crown Court, quite a strange program for us youngsters to enjoy though?! I've been pretty fed up lately whilst trying to get HRT sorted out and its nice to have some fun on here instead of trawling through, frantically trying to find some answers. Thank you girls!
-
I agree and said that to my husband I felt lighter just remembering and forgetting about hrt combinations etc... I think i feigned an interest in crown court as my mam loved it and I was laid on the sofa "illish" but I seem to remember the jury were real people as in not actors??
Mike Reid that's him yes.
I also remember around on Saturday afternoons watching black and white films with my mam like Bette Davis ones and Shirley Temple... I loved those times.
-
The Generation Game with Brucie used to have the whole family sat around the TV, I suppose the same happens these days with Strictly and X Factor. I used to watch Top of the Pops with my mum and still vividly remember Pans People riding around on white horses to (K?!)nights in White Satin, or was it Procal Harum, Whiter Shades of Pale? No, sure it was the Moody Blues...........!
-
I sit every night with my iPad and I traul through all the channels and find the old programmes esp comedy ones from 60,70,80s and usually I find 2 or 3 that make me laugh and that's the best therapy we can have sometimes.im lost in my own space for that hour or so and it lifts my spirits even when I maybe don't feel like it I make myself do it as I don't t want to go to sleep feeling negative that's not good for anyone.xx
-
Wise words DaisyDot. I watched ' Duchess of Duke Street' whilst having my lunch today. Took me way back. Different pace of life.
-
I used to really enjoy that Roseneath thanks for reminder xx
-
Yes, that was a staple for mum and me. As I got older I loved Flambards and Howards Way. I don't watch the normal Big Brother, but always watch the Celebrity Big Brother, but had got to the point where I was gong off it due to all the reality people on it, so felt it was going away from the original intention. Wasn't going to watch it this year, but so pleased I have, its been brilliant. If you like that kind of thing!
-
Catwezele.
-
Did he wrestle too on A Saturday afternoon, World of Sport with Dickie Davies and Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks and Kendo Nakasaki(the one with the mask) and Les Kenet!! My nana's favourite programme!!
-
I've got a soft spot for Wombles ❤️ Going off the point I bought my kids a DVD of Hector's House when they were little, my son was so terrified of it we had to pretend to put it in the outside bin. He's 11 now and you can't even say “silly old Hector†or sing the music, he's properly petrified 😊
-
I was terrified of Hector and also a programme called "How" as it had indian drumming music at the beginning and I always ran and hid. I think Fred Dineage was one of the presenters and it was about explaining how things worked. Nothing scary but it was the music.
The other hide behind the cushion on a Friday night was "Hammer House of Horrors" terrifying as a kid and later the music from Tales of the Unexpected!
-
Haha it seems a lot of people are Hector-phobic ;D I was always puzzled by Tales of the Unexpected, how was the lady dancing in the flames but not burning???
-
No idea, Roald Dahl's darker side!
-
The other hide behind the cushion on a Friday night was "Hammer House of Horrors" terrifying as a kid and later the music from Tales of the Unexpected!
I'd forgotten about tales of the unexpected. I can remember lying in bed hearing the music, too frightened to sleep.
-
The Hardy Boys, Grange Hill and Fame when I was a teenager. Earlier than that I loved the Magic Roundabout, blue peter, Sesame Street. This thread is like a pleasant stroll down memory lane. Apart from tales of the unexpected lol!
-
The minister who came on at the end of the nights viewing and used to say now lock all your doors etc used to scare the pants off me,I'm sure billy Connolly did a spoof of that.
-
I remember being spooked by the test card, the clown.
I seem to remember after the minister the national anthem coming on as my dad said we needed to stand for that!!
-
Lol yes it did good memory!
-
A program I liked to watch but also dreaded was " thats life" on a Sunday evening as it meant back to school the next day
-
The Magic Roundabout. One of my earliest memories is being horrified my Grandfather didn't want to watch it.
-
Crackerjack was another favourite of mines x
