I'm not active personally. Walking is my limit and occasionally cycling.
However: have watched a successful Tour de France and le Veulta, several of the F1 races as well as most of MotoGP, which have finished until March. 2-day GB have WON the Davis Cup :bounce: in Ghent. The trophy is HUGE ;D and Belgium have been in a Final for the 1st time in many years.
-
Have watched interviews with Bradley Smith and Cal Crutchlow this evening :-* :-* and a film about how Danny Kent became Moto2 first British Champion for eversomany years :bounce:
F1 has moved from the BBC ……… DC has moved with it but don't know about the other presenters, i.e. Suzy Perry, EddieJ ………. interesting times!
DH was watching American Football earlier this week but it was on too late for me to be bothered sitting up!
-
I'm not into sports myself but do walking & use my strider 3-4 times a wk.
I like watching some sport.Football, touring cars, snooker, gymnastics and I like the programme,"A Question of Sport"
-
F1, MotoGP; skiing round up, crikey that's scary stuff! ; gymnastics, ice skating ……..
-
The World Cycling Championships from the London Velodrome …….. gold after gold after silver after bronze :-* Go Trottie, go! and Cave and Wiggo did well!
Plus Andy Murray winning his match after 4+ hours - he looked DREADFUL afterwards ……… :-\
-
I used to do Highland dancing - very aerobic, but not sure if that counts..... :-\
These days, well, um, er.............
D.
-
Oh: I did sword dancing - carefully ;D
-
Lovely Mother's Day TV for me yesterday, cycling and tennis, I love most sports (watching not taking part ::) ) F1 season starting soon and 6 nations rugby on now bliss ;D
-
Go Wiggo, Go Cavvi :-* and don't forget Laura Trott :bounce:
MotoGP begins soon GO BRADLEY :-* :-*
-
Ok.........never been good at sport until now. I came last in the egg and spoon race and was last to be chosen for netball teams. Apparently I am good at pelvic floor exercises. Yesterday, the physio said so. So there! :na:
-
 …….. not too much of this then Ju Ju : :hapij: :bounci:
There is an advert about 'joining' to do something for Sport Relief ………. the two words don't go together, surely :D ::)
-
I don't do running! Or bouncing! My grandson is doing all of that for me today. It's exhausting watching him.
Cos I'm slim and tend to wear sporty type clothes, people who don't know me, think I am sporty! ;)
-
F1 qualifying at 12.30 on the 'other' side, MotoGP this afternoon on the laptop, courtesy of BTSport. However, what's 'sport relief' got to do with providing charity ………. I don't find any relief when doing sport ;)
-
Relief when watching perhaps? I feel exhausted watching sport, so no need to do it myself. ;)
-
I have never been sporty. My friend and I used to take it in turns to come last in school sports day races. I was always last to be picked with an 'oh no Miss, do we have to have Jane.
I used to cycle though - 5 miles to work and 5 miles back. No wonder I ended up with exhaustion.
Tried the gym, bo-ring
Can't swim very well
Love walking the dog
Don't even watch much sport by choice.
-
Back to the drawing board with F1 qualifying, I hope the race is so good I forget the awful qualifying ;D
-
Agreed. This kind of qualifying was trialled for a couple of seasons in the early 2000s and didn't work. Public were paying to see qualifying and note was happening on Track >:(.
Got my fix of Mark Webber, DC and Colin Edwards, same again tomorrow ;-). Did you see Guy Martin and DC at Silverstone racing super bike against Red Bull F1? Good programme.
-
I didn't see the programme you mention I'll see if I can download it. As far as today's race, it was ok, nothing exciting and hardly any overtaking. I was so relieved when Alonso walked away from what was left of his car, I hate the big accidents when the car overturns.
A few years ago when I was on a Mediterranean cruise I was walking back to the ship in Monaco and who was walking towards me but David Coulthard, I was too star struck to say anything so luckily my sister asked if she could take his photo, he said yes so she took it but I just stood like a dummy looking at him :o
-
 bet you kick yourself every day! Didn't see the F1, too busy gardening then watching MotoGP. Apparently F1 have dropped the 'new' qualifying idea ::)
-
Well I ought to do more exercise but right now I can hardly put my foot over the edge of the bath into the bubbles :-[
Last week I did well, went for several walks and though that the dreadful tiredness during and after was due to lack of stamina.
As well as walking to keep bones healthy; swimming, cycling ; can help with anxiety. Though for years I haven't been bothered to undress B4 swimming in the pool.
I also feel that GOOD footwear is important, both for every day use as well as doing sports/walking. I see many ladies with bad footwear and bet a lot of them go to their GPs with knee/back pains >:(.
Sitting at the computer etc. correctly is important. Making sure that the Company provides a good 'work place' and also to take their away from screen time on a regular basis! Does anyone here belong/ed to a Company who provided a sports environment for staff?
-
I wasn't at all sporty when I was at school. It was either music or sport, and music won! Having said that, I did do Highland dancing (as opposed to Scottish country dancing) as a teenager - it's incredibly aerobic and fantastic to watch, even now. I actually took it up again in my early 30's - my re-introduction to it was doing the Highland Fling at a St. Andrew's Night when we lived down south, and then being asked to do it again, straight away, the same night. I could hardly walk, the next day!!!! I kept it going during my 30's (the dancing, that is, not just the Highland Fling!) until a back injury from a car crash put a stop to it when I was 35. Anyone else do Highland in their school days, or at any other time??
-
Music and Mime, Country Dancing ;D
I didn't do the Highland Fling until I was 13, part of our Ballet School Classes. Have photos somewhere :-X. We danced over Xssd swords.
I hated being watched doing anything other than swimming for the School and dancing, so sports at School were a nightmare: hockey >freezing weather<, cross country the same …….. as for running, why bother if one can walk ::)
-
I used to do line dancing, that is also aerobic and such fun. Cycling was definitely my thing, think I said that before on this thread.
Hubby is watching the French Open tennis as I type.
Just got back from daily dog walk :)
I've never been a team player so team sports were a nightmare,
Do you want to hear a story - during a netball tournament at school (juniors) I was 'marking' a girl called Christine. She was about to take a shot at the goal when she dropped the ball. I picked it up and couldn't understand why everyone in my team was calling to me. Being the nice, polite girl I was and not wanting to get into trouble I handed the ball back to Christine!!!! Couldn't understand why everyone in my team started screaming at me ::)
-
::) ……… I never could understand the Rules, so worried about getting it 'wrong' that I was never a team player :-\
-
me neither which is why I handed the ball back to my opponent when she dropped it instead of throwing it to one of my own team. Wonder why I wasn't picked for the school netball team :whist:
-
…… does it matter now?
-
didn't matter then......not to me anyway :)
-
Phew! I remember always being picked last :-\ …… and remember not wanting to use the 'slide' of solid ice in the playground ……… 'cos I knew it would hurt if I fell down :'(
-
I also remember not wanting to join in doing handstands against the wall in the playground because I was a chunky child and the others would laugh at my fat bum :'(
Anyway back to sports - school sports day :gym:
-
Hated those too ::)
-
Wimbledon, Euro 2016 and the Olympics! Not long now. :)
-
Although I always find Wimbledon exciting (come on, Andy!), there's something very relaxing about it, too. I think it's the hypnotic backwards-and-forwards of the ball - I also love that split second when the ball seems to stop in mid-air just before it's hit for a serve............ ::)
-
I've been weeding, does that count?
-
does that mean you are feeling better?
-
:thankyou: not as good as yesterday but have improved during the morning. Decided to quit whilst ahead …...
-
post viral fatigue - pace yourself x
-
… so I need a break from exercise, perhaps a trip to the coast?
-
yep, I'll come too :)
-
What time shall we pick you up ;D ………
-
give me chance to pack a bag. Where are we going?
-
Have a read of the holiday thread :D
-
Tour de France soon :great:
-
So - began the day with Tour de France, followed by e-cars from Battersea, then F1 qualifying and now cricket from Cardiff. I'm exhausted ;D
-
I have sat on the edge of the settee all afternoon :o - those motorcycling boys really did WELL today in Bruno. John McPhea and Cal Crutchlow won their Class, Sam Lowes came 3rd in his :bounce: in atrocious weather :-\.
-
GO CAL GO!!!!! what a DAY! :-*
-
Congratulations to Andy Murray, worlds best tennis player. Arise sir Andrew in January ;D
-
;D ………… not the best way to 'win' though ::)
-
It spared me the stress ;D
I'm off to the o2 next weekend to see the tennis. I am waiting for the group draw to be made then I will know which players we will get to see.
:bounce:
-
I don't like tennis: except the Veteran Tour at the Royal Albert Hall each December, now that I really enjoy. Himself gave me the Life Story of the chap whose name escapes me …….. but he plays with several balls at once and is a real joker on the Court. (Book is upstairs, I'm not ::) ;D )
Watching World Cycling from the Velodrome in Glasgow.
-
Apparently it's the 'big one' in the O2 this evening - won't be watching >yawn< but expect the paying public should get a good evening's entertainment!
-
Andy just won !! Big achievement . :)
-
I'm pleased although I don't like tennis.
-
Sore throat from shouting at TV! Andy won!
:spin: :spin: :spin: :spin: :spin: :spin: :spin:
-
I was there last Sunday, if you like tennis I would recommend you go, it's a fantastic experience :)
This was our 7th year of attending and have been lucky enough to see all the top players, my favourite players are Murray and del Potro
:congrats:
Andy Murray world number 1
-
His Bro is No 1 in the doubles too!
Last F1 on the weekend :-\
-
His Bro is No 1 in the doubles too!
Last F1 on the weekend :-\
I was in London when the Brazilian GP was on tv, my son said it was awful with too many red flags so seems watching the highlights was the better option.
I'll be crossing everything for Lewis on Sunday, apart from my eyes ;D
-
Nico Rosberg has retired ::) ……..
-
I heard ::)
-
I was surprised ……. but I agree, the fight between him and Lewis couldn't continue but who: except Jenson ;-) : can step into the seat?!? after all everyone else has signed their Contracts.
-
There is too much choice to watch this weekend ;D
F1 - Lewis on Pole :-* - they now have the footie on TV screens in the garages and on the screens around the Circuit
Tour de France began today
Footie started at 3.00 p.m.
Cricket from Canada ........
Wimbledon - the hottest for years ::)
-
Well. If DH had attacked a workman as Max Vestappen did after the F1 yesterday, he would have been walked off Site with his P45 :o
-
Been to London to watch the tennis again but I'll catch up on the GP soon, I don't know what happened with Max but I do know the winner of the race :)
-
Max threw his prams out of the pram by kicking an opponent >:(
So different from those on the Tickshaw Challenge !! ;)
-
MotoGP season finished on Sunday :'(. Have watched testing from Valencia today. Bright sunshine there. It will be a while to remember who is which coloured leathers ::). Roll on March.
1 more F1 race this weekend. Hopefully the relaxed tennis games will be on in the Albert Hall soon.
-
I've been hooked on the NFL this year, from 6pm until I go to bed in Sunday's it's all I watch ::) I am a big rugby fan anyway so it's not that different apart from the armour :o ;D I even got tickets to see a live game in Wembley in October.
F1 and tennis are ending, rugby and NFL are going strong and in January the tour down under and the Australian open tennis will start another season. It's no wonder the year goes soooo quickly I'm always looking forward to the next sporting event. I've already booked to see the Paris Roubaux cycling in April :)
-
;D - DH is into NFL. I find it stops and starts too often for me to keep up :D
I am selling my tread mill ;-). Too busy watching from the sofa ::)
-
Any one else fed up with Murray tear-gate? Get a grip man, get a grip :-X. Get some grub down you then you won't be so prone to tears!
-
That's exactly what I said.
He has been so lucky and now it's come to an end. That's life and there are so many people with real problems to cry about. ::)
-
.... and I thought that I was simply a Grumpy Old Woman ;D. He should have been planning for retirement for at least 20 years! same with other sports people, they don't look far enough ahead. At least they don't have to worry about a Pension ;)
-
R U my neighbour
-
I'll not walk your dogs if you don't :D
We are trying to walk more often though missed it today, but once Spring arrives I can do more gardening.
-
Awww poor Andy, I feel for him. I've enjoyed watching him, and wish he could retire when he wants not because he's in pain. I think it's a shame when any person cannot continue doing something they love because of injury.
:na:
-
People have to give up jobs they love all the time. It's nothing to cry over.
-
Huge shock in the F1 world today, Charlie Whiting had died, the day before the season starts.
He was a massive part of F1 and his passing is going to be felt by all the teams and drivers :'(
-
:'(. 66 - no age. All that flying round the World, pulmonary embolism? F1 isn't being shown other than on SkyTV ......... apart from the British Grand Prix :-\
-
We are a sports loving family so we have sky sports, but I don't agree that non pay to view viewers have almost no sport any more, unless you like horse racing and snooker :-\
My sisters mother in law died of the same, a few days after returning from a coach holiday :'(
-
Sitting too long?
Watching Cheltenham as everything has altered due to Brexit >:( ::) :-X
U forgot 2 mention football :(
-
All the new MotoE [MotoGP] bikes destroyed at Jerez in an overnight fire :'(
-
GO LEWIS GO!
-
F1 in the rain :o hi-lights might actually be worth watching later :D
-
Although I don't like footie etc. I do hope that we win tomorrow :poke2: :hapij:
-
S Africa ahead .......... Marc Marquez leaves his bike rather suddenly in Qualifying :o and landed on his feet, running .......... walked away :-\
-
Been enjoying virtual MotoGP racing from various Circuits, 2day it's Silverstone ...... apparently e-racing and F1 have done similar but I haven't caught up caught up with those. Such clever technology - does anyone 'game' .......... I would love to have time to try it. I would love to sit in a flight stimulator too.
Looks like F1 will get it's way at Silverstone for 2 races late July early August - they won't have to quarantine apparently >:(
-
Well F1 has got it's own way >:(. Having seen the lack of crowd control around UK coasts recently, how the **** will Northamptonshire be kept clear of fans ......... :-\.
-
Bottas was practising yesterday and Lewis today - according to F1 news, when the races take place at S.stone at the end of July and start of August, Teams will be allocated a Hotel each ......... hopefully they will provide their own cleaning teams as most Hotels as I understand it across the UK are closed :-\ and despite it being a closed event, already people were driving into Northamptonshire in the hope of getting a look-see. I suppose the Police are elsewhere engaged?
-
Virtual Boat Race tomorrow afternoon which should be fun.
Wimbledon will be quiet ......... and people will lose out on renting their properties to TV crews etc.. I'm not into tennis but it will be a completely different part of London this year.
Chelsea was streamed and footie has been shown retrospectively - R we likely to see Sir Cliff singing again ? ;)
-
Summer just won't be summer without Wimbledon.
My two weeks of sport a year and it's not happening :-\
I know!
Wimbledon, Glastonbury and my Birthday, all happen during two weeks when i sit on my @rse, watch TV, listen to great music and eat lots of shite! Won't be the same :(
-
:ola: Horse racing is back on, albeit behind closed doors with very strict protocol.
I imagine it will seem very odd not hearing the cheering of the crowd as the horses race down to the finishing line.
I know it's not every ones idea of sport but I do enjoy it & like a flutter ::) ::)
Cazi x

I love having a bet on the grand national. it's a childhood thing where we'd all pick a horse and win whatever we'd all put in the pot. 😆 ( 7 of us) .
I know the National isn't for everyone, my OH hates it, says it's too much for the horses. 🤷♀️
-
Grand National should be run without riders!
I am sure that there could be recordings of crowds played over the tannoy at Race Meetings?
MotoGP is to begin in mainland Europe, S.stone cancelled quite early on. F1s have been testing at S.stone and apparently, crowds of cars arrived to see if they could get into the Circuit :cuss: :beat:
-
Might be more fun if they ran the Grand National without the horses.
-
Horses are bred to run, to jump I'm not so sure otherwise the countryside would be full of escaped horses?
Lovely to see horses running free along a beach or across the Moors.
-
Football starts Wednesday :)
-
What's that again :D
-
Football starts Wednesday :)
Can't wait!
-
Grand National should be run without riders!
Do you mean just the Grand National?
-
Yes. I HATE the Grand National because so many horses are damaged etc.. So those horses that are bred to run should go round on their own, interesting to see how many would stop and eat the first fence ;D - or graze the grass infront of it. Flat racing is better ........... because horses love to run. Bit like dogs who will race around. Jumping is something that horses would do in order to escape predators. I would also ban the carrying of whips.
I missed the boat race >:( but can't see where it was shown .........
-
Just as well you're not in charge then CLKD because you would stop a lot of people enjoying themselves.
-
Especially the Irish ......... interesting that not many articles in the media about the C-19 effects at Cheltenham ?
I think watching the horses making their own decisions would make good betting odds ;D
-
Especially the Irish ......... interesting that not many articles in the media about the C-19 effects at Cheltenham ?
What do you mean by that CLKD ???
-
Which - the Irish - the Country that loves horse racing more than any other ? that breeds some of the finest blood stock ? that know how to Party ;D
Or C-19 effects of the Cheltenham Meeting? Apparently many were affected but it was not headline news.
-
Cheltenham - probably didn't make the headlines because there last meeting was the 27th March & things had just kicked off.
English people also love horse racing (& know how to party). :)
-
It was discussed long and hard about cancelling Cheltenham but as one bookie said to me, "It will be a brave Man who stops 100,000 Irish men arriving" ;D.
When I went to watch racing over hurdles many years ago I was surprised at how small the horses were ! Sadly 1 didn't get up after a fall so the jockey had to walk back with saddle and bridle :'(
-
How do you know a bookie CLKD - are you a secret gambler? ;)
So you have seen a hurdle race then - have you seen a steeplechase? they're even bigger fences you know.
-
Football starts Wednesday :)
As if it wasn't enough that there are endless ancient repeats on TV, now we have to suffer football too >:( >:( >:(
Current affairs is awful too, 10 days of wall-to-wall Dominic Cummins when everyone was sick of it after 2 days, now probably a month of racism.
-
Looks like we got out the wrong side of the same barn sheila99 ;-). I have a wonderful button on my remote: it says 'OFF' :whist:
Tnx goodness for fine weather since Feb..
-
The dog loves football. Back to the trail of dog snot along the TV where it's tried to catch the ball :(
-

 I'm sure don't begrudge the dog its enjoyment though!

-
;D. many years ago my kitten watched the dance of the cygnets - en pointe across the TV screen, disappearing Stage R - she went behind to see where the ballerinas had gone ;D
-
Ascot this week. With no punters ::)
I have an image of our Queen: sitting in a onesie with large fluffy sippers, sipping a cuppa in front of a large TV ;D or does 1 think that her Maj will be dressed up in pearls and a hat .......... cheering from the comfort of her lounge.
Those that would normally attend have been asked to dress up and put photos onto various platforms, I think for Charity.
-

That's what I did but without the onesie. Watching it on TV doesn't make as much difference as I thought actually. You still have the commentary etc - it's when they cross the finishing line that you'll notice it as
that's where most of the race goers are.
Can't wait to get back trackside & have a little flutter or 2 with my race going buddies.
-
Lots of sports back this weekend
Strade Bianchi - cycling
British grand prix
FA cup final
Im happy ;D
-
How R U watching F1 - it seems to very restricted considering fans aren't supposed to be travelling. Apparently >:(
Sergio Perez has tested positive but Racing Point have 2 other drivers to choose from ........... instead of the whole Team being sent back to base which is opposite the Circuit.
-
I think Hulkenberg has has Perez’s seat for the race, but Perez will probably miss next weekends race as well.
I havent watched practice yet.
-
Found it! Looks hot there ;-).
-
Apparently Perez returned to his country as his mother had been involved in an accident. Mexico.
So mayB the team should have given him some Leave 'cos his mind won't be on the job anyway!
No team spirit there then, a) no respect for his sponsors, manager, engineers and b) no thought for the costs to the Team should they not get expected results this next couple of weeks.
As with Joffra Archer, I would sack him on the spot! However: with football all the Team could be carried on a coach to the next venue and incarcerated into an Hotel? so that no one gets the chance to slip off to see his dog/s .........
-
Im going to look out for Lando Norris, his helmet design was done by a 6 year old ;D
-
They showed that earlier ...... especially for Silverstone apparently. Wish that they would pronounce Silverstone properly >:( they miss the 'e' off the end :bang: :bang: :bang:
-
;D Would you like me to make a list of mispronounced welsh words ;D
-
;D .......... what on TV Sports ? Or in the public at Large (though we aren't supposed to be at large right now )
-
F1 = that'll do for starters - Go Lewis, go :-* and that Toto Wolfe :-X ::)
-
Watched qualifying
Watched FA cup final
Watched most of cycling, OMG thd dust :o
-
WOW :o :-*
-
Glad I watched the GO until the end ;D
-
How boring until the last couple of Laps though :-\ ....... MotoGP and F1 next weekend, no contest there then! 70th anniversary at Silverstone next week I think that's 70 years since the 1st race there? At least the weather was fine and is set fine for next week too unless 1 is North of Newcastle.
-
Lots of cycling starting, you need to check the calendar or you will miss the races, I have set my sky box up to record them or I will foget.
-
DH has the cycling under review via some gadget or other as we don't have SKY.
Temps next weekend in the high 30s - that'll test the F1 tyres :D
-
Thrilled that hockey (NHL) is back playing..that was a long 4 months! Also watching some major league baseball but I'm missing tennis. I'm a big fan of the grand slams and Wimbledon is my favourite of the 4.
-
Extinction Rebellion somehow got hold of Marshall's uniforms and entered Silverstone Circuit on Sat. >:( :-\ - 1 has to wonder if they were allowed in to make a quiet 'point' and then arrested ?
-

Tennis is one if my favourites, I have tickets for the end if season event in London in November ::)
Im waiting to see what happens, its meant to be the last time its in London, I'm hoping its delayed a year :)

Hopefully you will be able to get to watch socially distanced live tennis, so lucky! ;D
-
If this is the Seniors Event I watch on TV. It's good fun and the only tennis I like ::)
-
Its the year end finals, top 8 ranked men play singles and doubles. Been every year its been in London and seen all the top players :) the atmosphere with Roger Federer is the best, he has very noisy fans ;D
-
Atmosphere cannot be reproduced 8)
-
One Moto3 racer cut his arm badly on the podium last Sunday with the celebration bottle, now has 22 stitches and still riding :o
John McPhee for Scotland 5th :-*
-
Tennis is going to be held behind closed doors :'( refund on its way :(
-
:'( ........... best for everyone though?
-
That's too bad, but they are trying to keep everyone safe, still stinks though.
-
Well done Lewis! On a roll. 8)
-
First Simon Yates +ve for C-19 so out of le Giro
Now Valentino Rossi +ve for C-19 so will miss at least 1 week MotGP :o
