Title: Omeprazole
Post by: honeybun on February 07, 2015, 01:39:31 PM
I do remember using this years ago but can't recall how it made me feel.

I'm a bit light headed today and yesterday. Is it the pills and will it settle. My stomach pain is much improved though.
I'm on 20mg once a day.

How do others get on and is this a common side effect.

I've just recently finished a course, I had it fir what they thought was acid irritating my airways (throat clearing all the time like Sparkle) it eased a bit not much. I started with 20mg was ok but felt as if wind was building up in upper body. Sorry to sound crude but I was a good burper and love burping but for the few months I was on it I just couldn't ! The only thing I could to was drink fizzy juice now and again. When they gave me 40mg I felt ill. X

Hmm that's interesting Millykin.
I have a problem with always wanting to clear my throat. Had it for a while now.

Wanting to always clear your throat can be caused by silent reflux and post nasal drip, also acid reflux, sinusitis or asthma.

My sister suffers with this and is constantly clearing her throat and burping.

http://www.lakesidepress.com/pulmonary/Cough/throatclearing.htm

I have been prescribed a proton pump inhibitor Omeprazole in the past but could not get on with it, I felt as if my oesophagus area had tightened up and it gave me a headache.

OH has taken it on and off for years but it does worry me as it is only supposed to be for short term use.

I don't get the burping but am constantly clearing my throat.  The 1 positive with allergic rhinitis and post nasal drip is that I rarely succumb to Germs  ;) so I to tolerate the symptoms at this time of year.

What's wrong with good old Milk of Magnesia?  ;)

Dyan
It only started 10 months ago when I started HRT. Have also had antihistamine, and inhaler to check in case it was allergy to something, like Silverlady said. Antihystamine helps a little. As CLKD mentions Ive put up with nasal drip this winter and I avoided colds which is good when everyone around me hasn't.
Feels like a slight allergy but to what I don't know. X

My allergy is to house dust.  If DH really pushes the hoovery-thingy round our bedroom the symptoms disappear.  Currently I have an itchy roof of mouth  :-\ ……. so he needs encouraging into the bedroom next week  ;)

I take Rennies for heartburn but they have to be spearmint - can't abide any other flavour!

I don't get heartburn. I find hoovering frequently helps as I thought of house dust, cat hair, it does help but I think mines might be psychological! In summer I blamed hayfever, in winter I blamed heating, dust.

This has helped me with post nasal drip I get it mostly at night time which can cause a throat tightening sensation, also a feeling  of wanting to clear throat, you can get a daytime one too.

I think mine is cause by allergies which irritate the sinuses too, and maybe if I have eaten too close to bedtime.

Does the hoovery thing not work for you CLKD  ;D

Milk of Magnesia reaches my stomach and then comes back up within minutes, cannot stomach it at all.

Hubby has allergic rhinitis which really annoys him, my daughter is very sneezy too but only when she is in the shower. She must have a sensitivity to something but we haven't figured out what.

Used to but don't know where they are kept these days [1 upstairs, 1 down]  :D

It amazes me that products designed to ease upper gut discomfort can cause so many variable problems  ::)

I've noticed the past few days that the weather has been mild here, really spring like, lovely for a walk and I'm finding a few sneezes, nasal drip and throat clearing get a little worse. Might try antihistamines again and see x

Then you'll catch a GERM  :o  ;D

Pollen has started, hazel catkins in flower already …….. willow pollen [April/May] and oil seed rape makes my symptoms worse.

The pills are helping, they just make me feel peculiar. Will keep going with them though as I want my stomach to get better.

Have you tried Beconase nasal spray Milly. That's what the GP gave hubby. Works quite well.

I have Beconase [why don't we ring each other  ;D] but find if I use it as prescribed it dries my nose to the point of sores forming  ::) ……… won't use it at this time of year to avoid GERMS  ;)

I have just bough a Universal UV Vac Attachment Beds, Furniture, Carpets and Upholstery that gets rid of dust mites, pet hairs and other creepies.

It vibrated and shakes the dust mites out.

Sorry its so big and sorry I have hijacked your thread HB.

I will remove it if you want me too, can't find a smaller pic.

Vibrates - not back into the carpet though  ;D

What other creepies do you have to put up with ……… [reminds me of A Place in Sun - Home or Away]  ;)

DH gets the nozzle into the furniture and does the mattress - I remove sheets for washing and he 'does' …….

There is an advert on this week that tells us to visit the GP if we have constant 'heartburn' symptoms - firstly, get the appt.? ……… do 'they' not know how difficult that can be  >:( - certain food stuffs cause heartburn and if I take my meds too late then it starts and I can't lay down until the Rennies begin to work - hiatus hernia is 'common' in ladies of our age too  ::) ……….

I've got the dyson ball thing, I bought the allergy accessory kit for it and it has something similar to the attachment you got SL. Very good for beds. You see all the white powder ( probably shedded skin) in the clear Hoover thing! X

Wouldn't have a Dyson as a Gift! tried 2, gave them away  ::)

Here's the description, batteries were included with mine and it is an universal head and fits all vacuums.

You know where I got it HB from out favourite online store for 19.99

Over time our homes can become a breeding ground for dust mites and bed bugs that can leave behind allergens that leave you feeling tired and congested.
•Thankfully, our incredible UV vacuum attachment will sterilise and eradicate dust mites and kill harmful bacteria without the use of harmful chemicals.
•So simple to use, just attach to your vacuum cleaner hose (universal adaptor supplied) and the rotating base will shake the bed bugs, dirt and germs loose, zap them with ultraviolet light to sterilise and then uses the suction of your vacuum to remove the debris.
•Ideal for once a month treatment on mattresses, carpets and upholstery, the vac attachment will fit to virtually any conventional non-upright vacuum with a 3.5cm diameter connection.
•Requires 3 x AAA batteries (not supplied - available to purchase separately)

:-\ 'harmful bacteria' ? leaves the good bacteria behind  :-\  [advertising jargon again]

It's the pooh that causes the problems - dust mites graze on our shed skin then pooh  ;D - apparently!  Don't have bed bugs fortunately.  We had pets : fleas + pooh = sneezing  ;D …….. anything that moves the critters around and away has my Vote but maybe forget the jargon  ;)

Of course, the thingy has to be used in order for it to work, maybe that's the important part that they miss out  :D - I am so pleased that I don't have to hoover daily in order to keep symptoms at bay!

CLKD you are being picky today  ::)  ;D It has very good reviews and people, even men have found it  helps. I don't see any jargon.

Once  a week is OK, I change sheets weekly so do beds then.

Anything that helps with the misery of allergies and asthma.

Advertising jargon:     "•  Thankfully, our incredible UV vacuum attachment will sterilise and eradicate dust mites and kill harmful bacteria without the use of harmful chemicals ……… "

'kill harmful bacteria' - how can a machine differentiate between useful and harmful  :-\ yep I'm picky if I think I'm being misled!

I've earn too much this evening  :-\ ………. hopefully it won't turn into indigestion!
