Title: Sydney siege
Post by: Rowan on December 15, 2014, 09:28:51 AM
We are concerned as OH's son who is a lawyer and works near the Lindt Chocolate cafe.

Hope it all ends with hostages being unharmed.

Never thought it would happen in peace loving Australia, one wonders if its madmen or genuine ISIS. Either way its horrible.

Has his son been in touch to reassure you ?

These things seem to happen anywhere now - in 2008 there was a suicide bomber in a peaceful Devon town - it failed and it turned out to be a loner - but it was quite a shock - the town was quickly 'locked down' by police so they must be prepared for something to happen anywhere now - maybe even more so since isis.

Hadn't heard about this issue  :-\ - usually all  mobile phone 'lines' are shut down to leave essential services open

Oh heck silverlady hope things are OK. Your OHs son maybe not twigged that you might be worried. Fingers crossed. My brother & SIL were passing through Sydney overnight en route to family. I was worried, but they posted a message saying they were at Sydney airport waiting to board next flight.

It seems that the perpetrator was 'known' to the Police ………  :'( ……. maybe it's time to keep these people under lock and key regardless of what the Human Rights' brigade think  :bang: :bang: :bang: - and then there's the awful issues in Pakistan today  :'(

Dreadful events in Pakistan. I have quite strong feelings on this kind of thing but suffice to say this is a real tragedy. All those bright young lives.  :'(

So, so sad that all those children are lost. Something needs to be done to stop any more innocent folk being murdered.  :'( :'( :'(
