Title: Chronic kidney failure
Post by: CLKD on October 09, 2023, 07:24:11 PM
 :-\

I've been swallowing statins for a few years.  Regular blood tests.  Eventually blood sugar issues were flagged, i.e. pre-diabetic.  Apparently that's gone.  Now I've had 3 blood tests for kidney function, the Nurse earlier this evening after bloods last week: apparently though it won't be treated.  So what's the point in knowing  :-\

My annual review keeps being altered, trying to get it in my birthday month but that ain't working.  I suggested that the next bloods be taken in January as the Nurse was phaffing a bit.

I mentioned my intense 'not wanting to wake up' head every morning - she advised that I restart VitD capsules, however - that didn't help from March to August!

Should I be worried?

Looking on NHS Advice apparently omepralol can increase the CK risk ...... I wonder if this has been taken into account during blood tests relating to statins.

I would restart the vit d,it was maybe because you didn't need them so much between March and August but definitely take them in the winter months, remember to get ones with K2  :)

Hi clkd
I was diagnosed with stage 3 chronic kidney disease last year
Did they tell you which stage yours was?
There are 5 stages, 1 to 5, the last being dialysis or transplant
Stage 3 won't be treated on the NHS, but the hope is to stop it getting worse to stage 4, which is when consultants are involved.
I follow a low salt diet, less than 3g daily as this helps the kidneys, and also don't take ibuprofen or nsaids as these are bad too.
If you can check your blood test results online it will give you an egfr result which is how the stage of ckd is determined
I also have issues with fatigue and brain fog, so that could be your reason why
Hope this helps

Morning.  That helps A LOT tnx.  When I mentioned that my head doesn't want to wake up, they Nurse couldn't understand what I was trying to imply.  I will probably make an appt with the Pharmacist at the Surgery so that I can write down what is necessary.

Good luck. Hope you get some answers.
The national kidney Foundation also have a very informative website, explaining the different stages of ckd and their possible symptoms and treatment

Sorry to hear about this new development CLKD.  Can I ask do you know whether they've checked your thyroid function?  It's just that if the thyroid is under-performing (even slightly) that can lead to suboptimal kidney function & sluggishness with extreme fatigue can be a feature of both conditions.  Several of my family members have had renal failure.

U R all wonderful  :thankyou: :foryou: :foryou:

I need to make The List .......

'all blood tests normal' - as far as I know they were taken purely for kidney function.  [I should take my own advice, perhaps  ::)]
