Title: CBD oil
Post by: jaypo on October 24, 2018, 01:36:20 PM
Has anyone heard anything about this cannabis oil?Apparently it's supposed to be good for anxiety, saw it in health food shop, was a bit pricey but I'd give anything a shot

Hi again!

I've heard very good things about it. Yes it can be very helpful for anxiety for many people. Just make sure it is good quality.

They have done studies that show it is effective for anxiety. THC (what makes you high) can make anxiety worse but what you can buy in the store has very little to no THC in it so not a problem.

It is also supposed to have very minimal side effects. Start small and build your dose up to see how it affects you.

I do hate how expensive it is. I wish they had smaller sample sizes because it isn't great spending that much money to get something that might not work. I like CBD for pain (Topically), especially nerve pain. Now if only I could find it. I put it somewhere but like my brain could remember where it ended up!

Hello, I have tried it for nerve pain and found it to be quite effective, not miraculous but effective and the stuff you buy over the counter has none of the "get high" components in it so no need to worry there.  Here in NI there seems to be a company who have quite a lot stands in shopping centres  The number of different products and delivery methods is mind blowing and I think how expensive it is varies on the method you choose.  I got some in Holland and Barrett the first time but found it wasn't good enough quality (I think that's an important factor to look for and I found it out when I was doing some reading) and then I got some off the internet...there are a few quite big suppliers that have been in the press lately.  I think there is another longer thread on here about CBD oil started about 3 weeks ago maybe?

Yes it's been mentioned on here a few times so if you type it into the search bar...

I don't think it's widely available in UK or at least it didn't used to be. I think you have to order it online.

Hello ladies.

Grapetree are now selling CBD oil as well as Holland and Barrett plus there are plenty of sources online.

Hope this helps and wishing you all well.

I have capsules from Heathspan but am reluctant to use them. Not enough reliable information yet.

The oil in the dropper bottles - you put a certain number of drops under your tongue and leave for a minute (mine says) depending on the strength then swallow.  Tastes a bit weird but not bad.  I suppose the absorption is better than if it goes through the stomach in capsules or if your liver doesn't like it!

Post by: jaypo on October 25, 2018, 03:34:46 PM
Think Grapetree has the high strength one as apparently Holland & Barrett have only the weaker strength one.......if that helps  :)

I'm using it for athritis in my hand....have noticed a sight improvement.
It's the one from H&B, dropper type..  but it's very gloopy....doesn't seem as much in as started on the bottle.

I'm going to give the one from Healthspan a try....

Hey Hasty - I have the one you put under your tongue from H&B and yep its definitely an acquired taste - unfortunately for me it doesn't seem to do much but maybe I haven't given it enough time or maybe like everyone says I need a higher strength.  Seems like general opinion is that the Holland and Barrett one is a bit weak.

I have degenerative discs and have had bad pain the last couple weeks. I wasn't looking forward to Thanksgiving this week not with all the cooking etc., My oil arrived yesterday and I took about 30 drops under the tongue last night. Honestly I didn't feel any difference but the taste was okay rather like a light olive oil. Last night I slept like a baby no pain at all I cannot believe it. My husband asked how I was I said I feel great just a slight pain back there so I took another 30 drops for today. So I thought I would get on and let you lovely ladies what I have experienced with it. My strength is 250 mg full spectrum and I got mine on Amazon.

Annika - sounds great - so glad it seems to work.  Trouble is we all seem to react differently to things like cbd oil and sleeping remedies and even hrt.  Its all so random but wishing you many more peaceful and pain free nights :great:

I wanted a better quality anyways but not like this. It was my favorite for pain. Never used it long enough to see if it helped anxiety.

I hadn't a clue what was wrong with me,didn't even recognise I'd anxiety til it was really bad and by that time I was definitely depressed also, just awful.
How have you been
Title: Re: CBD oil
Post by: Ladybt28 on January 20, 2019, 06:31:29 PM
well I have to say that it would be foolish of me to say "oh I'm ok I'm better" especially after 40 years of stuff but I have to say on my scale of 1- 10 for feeling bad instead of living my life for the last 10 years between 7 & 10, I would say I have moved down to a 4-5!! whoo hoo!  Flaming heck it's taken just over 6 months.  I'm not fixed that's for sure and I got my testosterone on Wednesday so its a bit early to say how that works or if it works at all.

It seems to be going in the right direction but I know relapses are possible and after 40 years of my brain being in pretty depressive state and my body being out of sorts I would be a complete idiot to think it will have "it will have got the hang of what it was supposed to be doing"!!  I think its a learning curve still but lets just say it's "different but in a good way"!  I could be on here posting tomorrow that I want to play on the motorway again!  lets not get in front of ourselves hey?  Thanks for asking Jaypo :)

Post by: Ladybt28 on January 20, 2019, 06:50:39 PM
What lovely words Jaypo, thanks.. inspiration might be pushing it a bit  ;) :) but if I have anything to share it's stuborness and persistence and the fact we all need to keep looking for our answer cos it's there somewhere..on the other hand I have to say my trials have nearly taken my life altogether, not to put too finer point on it, but in the end, I'm still here.  It wasnt so bad when I was younger I just thought that was how my life was an sort of accepted it for most of the time, but when peri really hit, it got really very out of hand.  In another thread there are another two ladies posting who have had similar ongoing issues throughout their lives who have related to my story and I can relate to theirs

Anyway back to the subject of this thread, when I tried CBD oil I dont think what I had was strong enough.  Interested in Hasty's High strength (Heathspan) post - I might get some I always like to have something in the armoury - I wonder if it might help with my not being able to drop off until the early hours.  I take my melotonin but sometimes even that hasnt been working as it did before.  I wonder if your body gets used to the levels?  It is a natural remedy I wonder if the body adjusts and then you need more.  When I upped it a couple of times lately I felt a bit "hung over" in the morning.

I posted earlier on the thread when I first started taking this oil and had good results. I have continued taking it on and off when needed and the difference it has made for my painful joints/back has been really remarkable. My finger joints were swollen stiff for years and now I have no pain or stiffness, to be honest I am really surprised I didn't think anything could help that much. I used to take pain pills everyday and now rarely even my sciatica seems to have improved. Anyway I hope it can help others certainly worth a try anyway.

Oooo. Very interesting indeed.
I need to research this.
I'm interested in it for myself for anxiety but also for my mum and dad.
He has it terrible in his hands and has just been for an injection today for trigger thumb
My mum has it so bad in her knee she can't sleep and the only option is an operation which at 80 she is reluctant. She has artirial fib and is on warfarin so I think she'd need to check with her doc
Very interesting posts ladies.

I wouldn't think so but maybe just the anxiety of taking something new might be there.
I get worried taking anything new as well, even vitamins.
I haven't used my CBD in a long time...really just because I can't find it still.

I am a fan of CBD for pain. It has worked well for me as a topical. I've read studies about it helping IBD, Crohns...some good info really. It doesn't cure it but while using it the effects of the disease are reduced greatly or even gone with continued use. (Sorry I can't find the studies right now but I can try to find them again). They've done a lot of research in Israel around cannabis and there are some great studies coming out of there if you ever want to look some up. (Sorry researched it a bunch awhile ago...) Not too many studies of if it helps menopause but I know it's getting more popular for helping with that though as well.

Still can't find my oil.... :steamed: probably find it in some random place one day.

I am going to try to get some better stuff sometime though. It wasn't the best (or worst) quality but it was better than nothing.

Hi All

I am 53 and have been having symptoms for many years. I am still having periods which are erratic and can be very heavy leaving me feeling dizzy and very weak. I was started on
HRT evorel sequi patches a fortnight ago and I am experiencing some side effects. Is it safe to take CBD oil with HRT?
I finally persuaded my GP to let me have HRT for she wanted me to have a coil fitted which I refused. I am being impatient and was hoping to have seen some benefits of being on HRT by now.
Title: Re: CBD oil
Post by: Ladybt28 on May 18, 2019, 12:05:40 PM
Hi Barnaby - a fortnight is really early days and those ladies who get it sorted in the first month are pretty few and far between :-\ Unfortunatley patience and sometimes bucket loads of it is the name of the game - so hang on in there for a minimum of 3 months to see if it works and then if it doesn't change your types of hrt every 3 months till you find what does work!  Can be a tortuous process - took me 3 years but I got there :)

Yes you can take cbd oil with hrt but just like the hrt depends of the strength of the cbd oil and it is the same dilemma - works for some women and doesn't for others there are no guarantees - our bodies all react so differently to various types of hrt and the same goes for cbd oil.  Let us know how you get on.

Thank you so much for the advise. I have struggled for so many years with fatigue, low mood, anxiety to the point that I don't like driving on motor ways any more, anger, severe joint pains etc and never linked it to perimenapuase. I was prescribed ant depressants which never helped.

I will purchase some CBD  oil and along side my HRT hopefully might start feeling normal again. I am having a better day today not having any stomach cramps, joint pains or headaches so hoping the side effects are wearing off.

My husband will be happy if the above work for i haven't spoken to him since March lol.

See all your issues - all due to menopause! I spent 40 years on Ad's that didn't work but that's another story... :)

Just depends on the husband... as any issues with them may remain regardless of hrt  :-X ;D...deciding whether to talk to him could be one of the symptoms you decide not to resolve just yet  ;D ;D

I am a fan of cannabis. and I am happy that I can spoil my sweet tooth too! First, There was cannabis-infused frozen yogurt then a chocolate cake with marijuana edibles.Dishes with peaches are good too but did you actually think that food infused cannabis? that is totally great but ingesting cannabis has a side effect that can lead to overdose or addiction because of the dosage of cannabis that food has. by continually researching, I came across to this blimburnseeds.com/news/marijuana/legalization/europe/peter-muyshondt-cannabis-activist-policeman/ and thinking about planning my own and try his food infused cannabis or in peaches.

Have you tried it yet Birdy?! I have some from Simply CBD but too anxious to try it  :'(  Still ploughing through an anxious period (4 weeks) and digging deep to try and keep a lid on it!
It's sat on the bench but worried I'll get a reaction to it!!!
