I have just read about a mascara VolumeCare+ which is aimed at post-menopausal ladies - do you think such a product really makes any difference? I didn't............then I did........then I wasn't sure, but how I wish I had my hair-free top lip, my defined eye brows, my long, attractive eye lashes. Oh, what a depressing minute or 3 I've just spent.

Better now?
DH is a research Chemist and often groans at the ideas pushed particularly at ladies in the Health and Beauty pages/adverts.
I haven't worn make-up for over 30 years - got too lazy to take it off at night ::). I've let my hair go silver on top. I don't shave my legs unless the weather is really really warm .......... for lots and lots of weeks ;)
One has so many eyelashes so unless the mascara made it sticky, it won't add volume. I tried that in the 1970s ::) and looked like a panda :o

A really good product for your lashes to grow is called rapid lash, you get it from boots,it's a bit costly but after a few weeks, omg, your lashes are lovely and long, really works.
I don't step outside the door without make up,so vain ;D
-
I'll do your hair - I cut my fringe and no one has laughed. Yet ;-)

I used to wear the bare minimum make up when I was working but have got lazy these days! I do fill in my eyebrows every day as I feel better with them "in", and use mascara when going out (had a break for 7 weeks ???) love lipstick but have wasted so much money. CLKD, thanks for Mr CLKD's opinion - when I think about it, how can eyebrows know if they belong to a child or adult?

I don't like all the 'ideas' on shampoo but it seems that I can't buy any that hasn't got 'something' magical in it ::)

;D Yep, that's a tip my friend gave me for looking in the mirror, take your glasses off and stand well back, works every time.

Works far better than any anti wrinkle cream :)
-
And you drop 2 dress sizes too, brilliant ;D

Both Grannies had beautiful soft skin. One had water from a pump ......... both used very little other than warm water and probably 'ponds' skin care cream.

Last night DH said I was looking awful red (face, I think!) Today I went back to a Clinique redness solutions cream but after 2 minutes, I remembered why it was in the toilet bag in the cupboard - it pulled up and I had big grains of dark green stuff to wipe off! Any recommendations for a good redness solutions moisturiser, preferably with SPF?

Whose side might he be on?
I would use a sun tan lotion ............ mayB Nivea. The less mixes the best.

My mum taught me to care for my skin from a young age, so I always moisturise. Until I was around 30, I washed my face with soap but now I use a cleanser as I find it doesn't make my face feel stripped of moisture. Now that I'm 50, I use a richer cream at night after removing makeup. I find Olay a good product for my skin.
For my makeup I just go very light - I don't understand the trend these days to plaster the stuff on like so many young girls do. I think makeup should enhance the face, not cover it up. After moisturising, I apply a BB cream (Garnier), then a light dusting with a mineral powder, a little blush and then I touch up my eyebrows. I get my eyebrows tinted and shaped every four weeks, as I'm blonde and they are otherwise very pale. I'll use eye makeup if I'm going out for the evening.

I'm the same Teresa, don't go outside the door without my make up,not sure why tbh, probably scare small children (even more than I do already ;D )
-
;D ;D Draw really angry ones on ;D
-
Look like an Angry Bird! 🤣😂
I do most days. 🤷♀️ 👹

And bright red lippy on,make sure it goes on your teeth too ;D
-
Blue eyeshadow?right up to your eyebrows? ;D

The latest eyebrow doo-da is laminated brows. It's a fraction of the cost of dermablading but only lasts 4-6 weeks. I've an appointment before Christmas and I'll report back with bad or good reviews ::) :D
-
No need to call her that Teresa ;D ;D
-
Well, had my appointment 2 days ago and I would definitely recommend brow laminating. The downside is remembering to keep cleanser off them! A gentle wipe with tissue or cotton wool is all the cleansing required. I had a lash-lift and tint at the same appointment and WOW!! didn't know I had such sexy lashes  Just wish the rest of me could be tweaked :cancan:
I bought the Rimmel nail polish gel without the lamp (a 2-step procedure) and am going to try doing my own nails for Christmas day. Hoping to save money and hopefully have nice looking nails without causing the stress to my nails which gel causes.
Anyone else trying a DIY treatment for Christmas day?
-
How long does the lash lift last (blimey, bit of a tongue twister ;D )
-
Maybe 2 weeks, approx. If you take 5 mins to use an eyelash curler then mascara (I like clear unless going out. — not going out these days :o ::) but some days it’s good to pretend!) the lift should last longer.
-
I use rapid lash serum,it's from boots and it's pricey but after two weeks or so,omg, your lashes are really long, you just need one coat of mascara,it's fab
-
I always wondered if rapid Lash serum was any good and now I know it does! How often do you apply it?
-
Every night, not sure if the cheaper ones are as good, too scared to stop using it and try them instead, probably could've saved myself a fortune by now ;D
-
(needing cheering up so thought I'd post an update!) I don't know what the beautician did but 3 weeks on and my eyelashes are still longer and sweetly turned up at the ends  and that's without mascara! (too lazy right now) Of course, now I have the time and money to have this treatment every 4-6 weeks, the blasted salon has to stay shut!!! I will message the lovely beautician and tell her the good news and leave a review on her FB page (if I can find it this month:lol:)
On another positive, I am delighted with my hair at last! The answer? Lidl's Tea tree shampoo+conditioner, towel dry hair, apply John Freida Luxurious Volume blow out spray and dry, then straighteners with gentle turn under at each side, finger-dry the back. I hope I can never find the thinning scissors again as they are what cause all the hair trouble I have! :diablo:
Any other happy hair, smoother skin or fabulous beauty product story to share?
-
I have long quite thick hair and a nightmare to comb after washing but maui do a hair mask and it's fab,Tesco sells it,comb just slides through afterwards
-
Only spoiled by hubby's attempt at a hair cut?
-
My HUBBY!?! My daughter trims it,hey Sheila you have sheep shears dont you? ;D
-
My daughter makes a bigger hash of mine than OH. And yes, it looks as though it's been done with sheep shears :(.

I won’t be cutting my husband’s hair ever again after my Lockdown 1 “do” which I thought wasn’t bad 😊
When he went to the hairdresser she asked him who’d cut his hair? He agreed with her when she said it wasn’t good 🤬 I tried my best and won’t be responsible for my actions as it most certainly wouldn’t be good a 2nd time 🙈 🙄) he should have sat still so it’s his own fault 💁🏻♀️ if it was a bit squint. ::)
-
He should be grateful, his ears are still there aren't they? ;D
-
Yes!!
And his tongue :P This Lockdown or Lockup [/b]it should be aptly called after nearly 40 years of marriage ::) and a holiday with Mr P is the last thing I want right now :argue:
-
Lockup
-
Bit of a heads up girls - QVC Tsv tomorrow is entitled “Lash” . Still delighted with my lifted lashes and I don’t buy any other makeup so I’ll be watching :o
-
Here we go again and I am just about to run out of day+night cream. Looking for ideas for a red face !! Too much hot central heating indoors v cold, icy outside. I’ve tried Clinique before and it was too thick and gloopy.
-
I use Estée Lauder, they have the thicker cream and the lightweight one,it's pricey but fantastic
-
Is that a foundation Jaypo? I can’t wear foundation as it makes me feel I’ve a dirty face, and I get it all over my collar or top.
Thanks for suggestion x
-
No just a moisturiser padine, I use the thicker one in winter then change to the light one come spring, really hydrates the skin, the serums are fab too
-
That sounds a possibility, thanks ::)
