Title: Catarrh.
Post by: suziq99 on September 20, 2018, 12:04:16 PM
I started with a nasty dry cough really hurt my throat & chest, so went to docs who said my chest was clear ! She gave me some meds for the cough well that quickly stopped hurting & started to produce plem, which felt like it was on my chest, anyway  kept up the meds then it bunged u my sinuses. So had a med free day & downed some sudafed which normally works a treat on me. Fine sinus cleared, back to the cough, more meds cough gone, back to sinus. FFS !
Now what, try antihistamine, popped one last night had a good night & morning take another one today, bunged up again.
Oh btw also downing tonnes of water & hot honey, lemon & ginger.

Any ideas ?   What to try next 😥

HORMONES!  I remember Mum sitting over a steaming bowl of menthol  :sick02: ........ don't remember what age she was.

Have you tried a Beconase nasal spray once a day?  I can't use it often as it dries up the inside of my nose making it really sore.

Oh my.  I usually get this this time on year but when we have started using the central heating, (so not yet).

You seem to be doing all the things I would suggest.  Perhaps try some steam.

The fact you can't shift it does sound like some sort on allergic reaction.

Yes I did try a steam up last night with some tigerbalm :o  Cleared up for about half an hour.
I do have a nasal spray didn't think it would help as nose is clear, but I will try it. Thanks.
May be I'll try another antihistamine & steam up tonight.

Hi suziqu99. Sterimar congestion relief is very good.  A natural product which can be used up to six times a day.  CLKD my local pharmacist recommended the allergy one to me when I went because of a sore nose when the heating went on and dried it out and it stops me from getting this problem. As an allergy sufferer too I find this natural product very good when I am sneezing a lot
