HRT--good or bad?

<< < (249/251) > >>

Anny:
Hi, It isnt quite answering the question, sorry, but I am new to the forum and not sure exactly where to post!  am having real issues getting my GP to presribe HRT using my high blood pressure as a reason not to. I have tried using tablets to reduce it otherwise they said they will not issue HRT but the tablets left me with awful side effects a did not lower BP in any case. They seem to ignore that bit!  I have done a lot of reading on BP and HRT and i cannot see it is a justifiable reason to refuse HRT? I have had many side effects of menopause for 3+ years now and I am at the end of tether trying to get HRT and see if it improves my symptoms. Has anyone else had these issues. This is the 2nd GP i have had this issue with. Thanks.

HRT gave me my sanity back.  Without it I doubt I'd be here by now, I felt that bad.

I was doing a holding job for a couple of years using natural remedies, these enabled me to ride the peri hormonal fluctuations but my hormones must've dropped quite suddenly last autumn because because my cognitive and mental function declined so much I couldn't function.  I could hardly focus or string a sentence together and I was a crying hormonal mess.  I literally thought I was going ga-ga.  It was horrible.  My antidepressant wasn't making any difference, even with an increase in dose.

Within hours of starting my first dose of Oestrogel, I felt the fog starting to lift.  Within the first week of the Oestrogel, I was up out of bed and functioning again.  It probably took 1-2 weeks to feel like I was making further progress. The Utrogestan unfortunately is proving to be a bumpy ride and I haven't still quite got on an even keel with that.  Hoping I will in due course.

I am having great difficulty with oestrogel. One hour after using it I become extremely exhausted,it's definitely the oestrogel as it happens every single time.Although it does bring my blood pressure down into a normal range so that's a bonus but I simply hate feeling so exhausted from it.Progesterone does not make me feel tired at all,so I seem to be a little different to lots of other people who feel great on estrogen and terrible on progesterone.Im at a loss of what to do and I only use two pumps of the gel so it's not a lot but this extreme tiredness is getting me down.

Hello!

I'm new here. I am sitting at my laptop literally shaking while typing this.  -  such waves of anxious, its horrible.

I started Evorel Conti Patches just short of two weeks ago after estradiol spray/gel and progesterone tablets did not work for me . My anxiety was pretty bad before, hence starting HRT.  It's now so debilitating that I am considering anti-depressants.

I wonder when it's time to just throw in the towel and admit that HRT does not work for me.

I'm ever the optimist, but this really is gruelling!  :(

Sorry to moan. So nice to be here  :)
I would say, this is without a doubt the worse I have ever felt going through the menopause.

As to whether hrt is a good thing or not - I did some research and came to the conclusion that its a question of balancing out what I know I feel like now against what any future risks are.
